I went to the link provided and watched the 4 minute video of Mr. Sungenis’ comments. He appears to be his own worst enemy and it is understandable that Bishop Rhoades would tell him to knock it off.

Robert would have done himself a tremendous favor by simply sticking to the facts as the Bible lays them out: the Jews need to recognize their Messiah and convert to the Catholic Faith, which is the Faith which replaced Judaism according to Matthew 21: 33 – 46. All else, such as the quotes on that video, are indeed inflammatory and do no good in terms of getting our Jewish neighbors to consider the claims of Christ and the Catholic Church. Mr. Sungenis hurts the Church he claims to love and defend by making such statements.

Does anyone call the Amercian Government for being “Anti-Semetic” as it invades and destories a number of Arabic countries, such as Iraq? Or do people know believe Jews are the only semetic race on Earth? Come on people – why can’t one be critical of Jewishness without being label “Anti-Semetic”? Since when did the Jewish people claim exclusive fame to the Semetic label? Arabs, the biblical brothers of the Jews via Abraham are Semetic, as too are others. Why do we not hear such labelling when people are critical of these folk? Strange these labels we have…

BTW, Heidi, Robert Sungenis is not a “radical traditionalist”. He is a Scriptural inerrancy supporter and a Scriptural literalism (where appropriate) supporter. He is an orthodox Catholic.
