And first off responding to a comment on "Black History Month". If you would recall when you were in school. What "people", race wise, were the main focus of every history book? White history is everyday of every year, even during "Black History Month". Now for working people who are out of school and college or whatever i can see how one may of lost sight of the teaching of history during school (to some its not a very popular subject). But that's that, now to the comments on his tats, WHO CARES?? i'm not affended in anyway, and from the report i saw on msnbc he's not down to destroy any race of any kind. he's all about preserving his. He's not in a "white power" gang. He's just representing what he believes and that is what this country was built apon assied from God. So thust i don't feel threatened. I wish people of all colors would realize that we all came from the same place which we are to return, and that's fact. hundreds of thousands of millions of years ago there was no race, one language, one group of people. but thats beside the point, this guy isn't bad, he just has his beliefs which we all should respect. the only tiime anyone should be threatend by a person is if they deliberatly come after you or your family. its true he may inspire a very very very small few of the younger generation but honestly racist of all colors are going to have to deal with it in the future because as you can see day by day the world is evolving more and more racially. Anyways people should at least respect this guy for his belifes weather we agree or not. what if someone were to down you and disrespect you for your beliefs? especially if its all you've ever know or been exsposed to. I'm very proud of my heritage which is multi cultural. everybit..i don't personally belive there needs to be certain months set asside for certain ethnic groups. its a stupid idea always to leave someone left out. minority races just need to face the fact that not much has been accomplished in this country (as of yet) by their race. so obviously there is going to be less to state, i'm sure there were some amazing black, hispanic, native american, and asian people that will never be mentioned in American history for their accomplihments. But that is also very true in the white races as well, i mean how often do you hear about the white people that marched (from the north and south) for the liberation the blacks? not ever. or the non hippies who stood up agains the almost exile of asians during ww2? never. how many people here know that the NAACP was founded by only one black man (who was french btw) while the others where white? I'm not trying to down blacks or anyother racial minority, but we have to realize we weren't alone. So just let people live their lifes, don't judge them, people deserve that of each other. That’s even worse than giving an alcoholic a bottle of whiskey because he will go through DT's if he's forced to sober-up. There are natural consequences for your actions, whether it's a hangover, DT's or an ass-whooping in prison. You can't justify someone's bad behavior because they are scared. Being scared can be a good thing. Maybe if they are scared enough they will think hard enough about what they want to do that they decide not to do it. Though, based on their history, you really can't accuse them of being that smart. Whether you're a spouse or a chat-room commando, telling people it's OK to do what they want because doing what's right may be uncomfortable or get them hurt - that makes you an enabler and you certainly are not part of the solution. Also, there's a huge difference between being judgmental and using good judgment. If more people had guts enough to point out the wrong and more people had sense enough to listen to them, then these idiots wouldn’t have such an easy way to go in doing the wrong they do. It's also incredibly immature to think that if prisons had "more compassionate" staff that the prison would be a safer place. That's just stupid. The offender population of correctional institutions is not there for being benevolent - they are called offenders for a reason. They are the bad guys - not the staff. If you gave as much "compassion" to the staff as you did the inmates you would shed a lot more tears, believe me. Working in corrections is hell because of the offenders - they con you, assault you, threaten your family, run their criminal operations from the inside, assault each other, traffic drugs, conspire to conduct riots, riot, they rape each-other, they stage fights to draw in staff that they want to beat-rape-or kill. They throw bodily waste on you. You talk like offenders are just misunderstood little angles and the staff is a bunch of Nazis. That could not be further from the truth. Let's not forget that the subject of this thread is a murderer who killed an over-the-hill prison guard because he wanted to get away. Is that how good people act? When they are babies people throw tantrums to get their way, when they grow up they may kill you to get it. There are a lot of people posting hypothetical, theoretical nonsense on here trying to sound like Henry David Thoreau. It is admirable to hope for the best - but it's reckless and dangerous to think that free-thinking human beings who have chosen to live like animals give a crap about your opinions. They only stop living like animals when they choose to - you can not do it for them. Like it or not, sometimes the truth doesn’t make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. And nothing straightens out your perspective like some guy shoving a shank into your belly a few times because he didn't get what he wanted on his lunch tray. Lets just hope that none of you ever have to have an eye opening experience like that to get your head straight. Do some of you actually think this guy’s behavior is justified because he is scared of how to survive in confinement? That’s even worse than giving an alcoholic a bottle of whiskey because he will go through DT’s if he’s forced to sober-up. There are natural consequences for your actions, whether it’s a hangover, DT’s or an ass-whooping in prison. You can’t justify someone’s bad behavior because they are scared. Being scared can be a good thing. Maybe if they are scared enough they will think hard enough about what they want to do that they decide not to do it. Though, based on their history, you really can’t accuse them of being that smart. Whether you’re a spouse or a chat-room commando, telling people it’s OK to do what they want because doing what’s right may be uncomfortable or get them hurt - that makes you an enabler and you certainly are not part of the solution.

Also, there’s a huge difference between being judgmental and using good judgment. If more people had guts enough to point out the wrong and more people had sense enough to listen to them, then these idiots wouldn’t have such an easy way to go in doing the wrong they do.

It’s also incredibly immature to think that if prisons had “more compassionate” staff that the prison would be a safer place. That’s just stupid. The offender population of correctional institutions is not there for being benevolent - they are called offenders for a reason. They are the bad guys - not the staff.
