FBI Releases Hate Crime Statistics

This morning, the FBI released its hate crime statistics for 2006. The report showed a rise of 7.8 percent from 7,163 to 7,722 criminal incidents in 2006 targeting victims or property as a result of bias against a particular race, religion, sexual orientation, ethnic or national origin or physical or mental disability.

As in prior years, the data collected by the FBI was severely flawed. Only 12,600 of the nation’s more than 17,000 local, county, state and federal police agencies participated in the program. Certain states barely participated. Alabama reported only one hate crime in 2006. Mississippi and Hawaii did not report any hate crimes at all. A major Intelligence Report study released in 2001 that details the problems with the FBI’s data can be found here.

Unfortunately, the FBI’s data gives a false impression of the level of hate crime in the United States. In fact, the level of hate crimes in the United States is astoundingly high — more than 190,000 incidents per year, according to a 2005 Department of Justice study, which analyzed a more comprehensive data set than that compiled yearly by the FBI.

Are crimes by blacks against whites considered hate crimes? Are crimes by homosexuals against heterosexuals hate crimes? Is the racist viewpoints of LaRaza of concern to our organization?

Heres one the FBI, and ATF must have missed.
Racism in Rural Allen County- just outside Fort Wayne Indiana.
A racial columbine, or virginia tech just waiting to happen.
arent there laws against race-based domestic terrorism in this post 911 world?
I’m makig sure this story doesnt get buried by our local types, who fear news like this from getting out- they’d rather hide their heads in the sand, while kids are in fear for their lives going to school.

A dramatic difference between the FBI and Justice Department statistics is that the Justice Department statistics show that whites and Hispanics are more likely to be victims of hate crimes than blacks: “Per capital rates of hate crime victimization varied little by race or ethnicity: about 0.9 per 1,000 whites, 0.7 percent blacks, and 0.9 precent Hispanics.” According to FBI statistics, blacks were much more likely than whites to be victims of hate crime.

A second importance difference is that the Justice Department numbers show that whites (including Hispanics) make up only 43 percent of hate crime offenders, even though they make up nearly 80 percent of the population. It identifies 38.8 percent of hate crime offenders as black, even though blacks make up only about 12 percent of the population. By contrast, the FBI numbers identified 58.6 percent of hate crimes offenders as white and 20.6 percent of hate crime offenders as black.

Obviously, many anti-white and anti-Hispanic hate crimes were not reported to law enforcement agencies that contribute to the FBI study.

no, that would be considered payback.

and Hal, it is not a hate crime to push back against the oppressors, which would be white folk.

go be scared somewhere else, okay, you fearful little man.

Heidi/Bernard, Its pleasing to decent, moderate people like myself, to see that times change, liberals don’t.

Fact is that the FBI’s real statistics don’t say what you want them to. Rather than present a reasoned argument, you have Heidi spew out and oxymoronic “intelligence report.” Yes, I know oxymoronic is not a word. It just fits so well in this context.

Heidi, not sure if you imagine you are a journalist or not. If you have a journalism degree you should ask for you money back. A link in an article should direct the reader to the actual study, not something you, or your organization published previously, you clown.

Web sites like this remind of Rush Limbaugh’s. Two sides of the same filthy extremist coin. When you sit there, scratching your collective (splc) heads wondering how the hell GWB managed to get in the white house, not once, but twice, go look in the mirror. You print bullshit and expect educated people to believe it?

Oh wait, no, you expect people like Al Sharpton to believe it. I would love to watch a death match between David Duke and old Al. I might even pay to see it! No matter who wins, I win.

When liberals look at GWB’s administration and suggest that they don’t torture as long as they make up the definition, aren’t you doing the same thing Bernard? Making up the definition (of hate crime) as you see fit?

Don’t worry about me being a “fearful little man” you tired lefty hack. I absolutely look forward to any confrontation with people like you. And as to telling me to “go… somewhere else” make me, pinky.

Bernard and Heidi: I’m better educated than you, I’m smarter than you, think more clearly than you, write better than you, fight better than you and shoot straighter than you.

Weren’t all you left wing, lunatic fringe types promising to move to Canada after you lost the last electioin? Hurry up, before folks like me lose my patience.

It would be so easy for me to dog people like you for hours, but you just aren’t worth the time.

As a Mexican American I just want to let all the Black folks, the Asians, white people, the Jews and any other group, Gays included, we would love to have you over for dinner sometime. We would love to break bread with you and marvel at your history. Being from East Los Angeles I have been fortunate to have been raised with a love of all cultures and peoples. I don’t know where all these haters come from but it doesn’t sound like the America I grew up in. I feel sorry for them. There is only one race, the human race and love is still the answer.

    more on the “monroeville-billies”.
Hostory repeats itself- whenever times get tight, the “vast right wing conspiracy” blames the non-whites in America. Divide and conquer. get the poor of all races all stirred up, so they fight over the scraps from the wealthy special interests tables, when we should all instead be uniting to take back what is rightfully ours, regardless of skin color.
The poor od america need to wake up, and figure this fact out, then make call a truce, because the enemy( the other poor races) of my enemy( in this case, the rich, the government, and the media) just may be my friend.
And also, as Ronald Reagan once said, in defending the US involvement in various Iran-contra escapades, “one mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter.” So maybe we need to start thinking of our so-called enemies as a second front in our own poor Americans fight for freedom, wealth, and equality? I love my country, but dont trust my government anymore, and I surely dont beleive anything the rich on wall street, or the global capitalists say.

You bleeding hearts are the ultimate hypocrites.
entitlements, criminal coddling, as long as it’s NIMBY. Keep wasting time chasing the KKK, while blacks continue to kill EACH OTHER in every major city in America.

We need more laws allowing people to protect themselves. The police can’t always be thier. So if the police can carry guns while off duty to protect thier families. Why can’t law abiding people? Are our lives less valuable?

Yes, as are any crimes committed in whole or in part because of bias against a protected characteristic (e.g. race). And in fact, there are a signicant number of anti-white hate crimes reported every year. There are also some anti-Christian and anti-male hate crimes. And I know of one prosecution for someone accused of committing a crime motivated by the fact that the victim was a citizen of the United States.

There are no “protected classes” or “special rights.” The hate crimes law protect everyone equally.

    Hey Bernard:

Your reply to me didn’t show love and compassion but hatred and contempt. I thought all of your Hate Watch folks were kind compassionate, progressive free-thinkers who lived of trust-funds.

You write that it is okay to engage in violence against whites. Payback you say. So if a black, who didn’t buy into your organization’s twisted worldview, assaulted a member of Hate Watch, would that be a hate crime or would it be payback to white liberals who have helped destroy the black family?

For the record, I live in a predominately black neighborhood. Unlike most of your organization’s supporters, I am not an upper middle class white boy living in a lily white wealthy neighborhood like you and most of Hate Watch supporters.

PAY BACK??? …That anyone would consider the harm to another human being [and that human being representative of a group] due to their ethnicity or racial make-up, appropriate; that person is a bigot.

I’m sorry Barnard, but if you’re a black man - then I’m ashamed of you. Why the Hell do I want to harm some innocent person because someone in a geno/pheno-typical gene pool did me some wrong?

I don’t recognize an oppressor…What’s the matter? Your life a mess and the white man to blame?
I don’t recognize an oppressor; but I sure as Hell recognize oppressive thinking. now you MAY be a white man….if that’s the case I need to tell you that many black people DO NOT WANT your indignation or solicitous “help”.
May of us do not recognize an oppressor in our midst. …..Clear enough?

What I’d like to know is if gang activity against another race is called a hate crime, because if it isn’t, it should be. I’m familiar with the SPLC’s activities, but I think they should be more concerned about black on white, brown on white, and brown on black crimes than they are. There are increasing amounts of brown on white and brown on black crimes wherever illegal aliens move into and become either the majority or significant minority. This may seem racist, but if a person is willing to break the law of another country, who knows what else he’s capable of committing. Everywhere they go they bring their gangs and drugs with them.

    Speaking of hate crime(s):

George W. Bush had been a hate-crime criminal.

George W. Bush did in fact commit innumerable hate crimes.

    Bush was absolute evil.

George W. Bush is now sort of like a fugitive from justice.

Bush will go down in history in infamy.

Randy Thomson asked, “What I’d like to know is if gang activity against another race is called a hate crime.”

In California at least, yes it is, if the gang activity is (1) a crime and (2) committed in whole or in part because of the victim’s actual or perceived race. And in fact, gang prosecutors now commonly charge hate crime enhancements.
