The Last Word: Hatewatch’s 1st Annual Smackdown Awards

Posted By Mark Potok On December 21, 2007 @ 4:02 pm In Year-End | 57 Comments

It’s been a heck of a year in the world of hate [1]. As usual, white supremacists and sundry others on the radical right have shot, bludgeoned and maimed their way into police blotters and newspapers across the land. They’ve cursed, defamed and insulted the usual laundry list of their enemies. But for Hatewatch aficionados, that’s all par for the course. After all, just about anyone can do something really ugly or violent if they set their mind to it. That’s why the Hatewatch 1st Annual Year-End Smackdown Awards Committee had such a very tough time. Sifting through huge piles of ne’er-do-well candidates, intrepid committee members sought to go beyond the merely quotidian and reach for the truly extraordinary. Here, with apologies to Keith Olbermann, is our Hatewatch countdown for the very worst of 2007:

10. Grossest Pervert Award
The hands-down winner here is Kevin Alfred Strom, the founder of the neo-Nazi National Vanguard group based in Virginia who saw charges [2] of enticing a 10-year-old girl for sex dropped [3], only to have the judge announce to the world that there was “overwhelming evidence that [Strom] was sexually drawn to this child.” That, along with Strom’s wife’s testimony [4] about finding her man naked and aroused in front of a computer screen peopled by young girls, isn’t a very hopeful prelude to Strom’s second trial, coming up in February, on possession of child porn charges. Top gross-out moment so far: The revelation that Strom had written a sonnet about marrying the 10-year-old, to be sung to the tune of “Here We Come A-Wassailing.”

The competition in this category, it should be pointed out, was fierce. Warren Jeffs, the polygamous leader of a racist Mormon offshoot sect, was convicted [5] on two counts of rape as an accomplice for forcing a 14-year-old girl to marry her 19-year-old cousin. Tony Alamo, leader of an anti-Catholic and anti-gay cult, was accused [6] of taking child brides. And David Lane, 69, a white supremacist movement icon in prison for his role in a 1984 assassination, had this to say [7] about the blonde, 14-year-old Gaede girls who make up the neo-Nazi Prussian Blue singing duo: “When the girls were little, they were like daughters or something. Now that they are grown women, and being a natural male, it’s… well, you know what I’m trying to say.” Yes, sadly, we do.

9. Most Gullible Broadcaster Award
Who can forget Bill O’Reilly, host of Fox News’ “The O’Reilly Factor,” and his June 21 segment, “Violent Lesbian Gangs a Growing Problem”? In this piece of addled fiction, O’Reilly and “Fox News crime analyst” Rod Wheeler contended that “a national underground network” of lesbian gangs, armed with pink pistols, was “terrorizing America,” in part by raping middle school girls with sex toys purchased on the Internet. As it turned out, the report was entirely false, as the Intelligence Report revealed [8]. The next day, Wheeler issued a statement saying that he had only “inadvertently stated” that the lesbians carried pink pistols, that he hadn’t meant to say there were 150 lesbian gangs in the Washington, D.C., area, that he hadn’t meant to say there was a “national epidemic” of lesbian gangs, and that he hadn’t meant to defame the Pink Pistols, a lesbian gun-rights group. Glad we got that straight!

8. Most Obnoxious Extremist Award
Although there was considerable support for the candidacy of Fred Phelps, the Godhatesfags.com [9] website proprietor who likes to picket the funerals of soldiers, Virginia neo-Nazi Bill White won in a squeaker. The former left-wing anarchist and one-time correspondent for the Russian Communist Party’s Pravda newspaper spent the year issuing racist insults, not-so-veiled threats and attacks on reporters. He posted the home addresses [10] of a long list of his enemies — from a Miami Herald columnist to journalists from his hometown newspaper to the editor of this blog — but also defamed large numbers of fellow racists. The rabid dog in White may have come out most clearly in his call to white supremacists to crash the wedding of the niece of a newspaper official to “annoy this Jew-loving piece of shit.”

7. Weirdest Political Alliance Award
The honors here go to Kirkpatrick Sale [11], director of the New York-based Middlebury Institute [12], dedicated to secessionism. Known for decades as a left-wing intellectual, Sale last year buddied up to the white supremacist League of the South [13] (LOS) — a group that opposes racial intermarriage, defends segregation, and calls for a return to “European cultural hegemony” in the South — to the point of actually co-sponsoring the Oct. 3-4 Second North American Secessionist Convention [14] in Tennessee with the LOS. Now, the left-right love affair promoted by Sale has turned positively torrid, with a “North-South Secession Summit” planned for January. Attending will be top officials of the Middlebury Institute, LOS, the Southern National Congress, and the Second Vermont Republic, to seek “the peaceful dissolution” of the United States.

6. Stupidest Conspiracy Theory Award
You know it can’t be good when the John Birch Society [15], the rabidly anti-Communist group that called President Eisenhower a commie, teams up with Jerome Corsi [16], the man who orchestrated the Swift-boating of John Kerry. Corsi and the JBS are the prime promoters of a nativist conspiracy theory [17] that claims Mexico, Canada and the United States are secretly planning a merger that would result in something called the “North American Union” (NAU). They insist that a 2005 tri-national agreement called the Security and Prosperity Partnership — a series of working groups to study cooperation in transportation, energy, aviation and the environment — is the leading edge of the conspiracy that may, in Corsi’s words, end in “an executive branch coup d’etat.” This would be merely an exercise in the ridiculous were it not for the fact that public figures from CNN anchor Lou Dobbs to U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-Colo.) to nativist leader Jim Gilchrist keep plugging it. Thanks to them and their ilk, the houses of representatives of 18 states have now passed resolutions opposing the much-feared NAU — an entity that does not exist and has never been planned.

5. Most Annoying Snot-Nosed College Kid Award
Kyle Bristow was irritating enough way back in 2006, when the soon-to-be leader of Young Americans for Freedom at Michigan State University posted his 13-point agenda, including elimination from student government of virtually every non-white, non-heterosexual and non-Christian group. He ratcheted it up with a “Straight Power” demonstration featuring “End Faggotry” and “Go Back in the Closet” signs. From there, Bristow and his MSU-YAF [18] degenerated into “Catch an Illegal Immigrant Day” contests, a “Koran Desecration” competition, and even, last September, an attack on a new Latino studies doctoral program under this headline: “MSU Offers Doctorate in Savagery.” [19] Bristow went on to invite such speakers to MSU as Nick Griffin, head of the racist British National Party [20] and a long-time Holocaust denier. All of this was bad enough on its own. Truly appalling, however, were the accolades Bristow received from mainstream politicians including Michigan GOP boss Saul Anuzis, who, shortly after the Southern Poverty Law Center named MSU-YAF a hate group, had this to say: “This [Bristow] is exactly the kind of young kid we want out there.” Good call, Saul!

4. Unlikeliest White Supremacist Award
Our old nemesis, H.K. Edgerton, was in our hometown [21] of Montgomery, Ala., back in November, and it reminded all of us just how nutty he really is. Edgerton, faithful readers of the Intelligence Report will remember [22], is a lonely black man in the overwhelmingly white — and white supremacist — neo-Confederate movement. As he made clear in an interview with Hatewatch, H.K. hasn’t dropped any of his strange ideas about slavery, the Civil War, the Ku Klux Klan and related topics. A sampling: Before the slaves were freed, “Black folks and white folks were family. …White people and slaves saw each other on the streets and they tipped their hats to each other.” Slaves “were given a new pair of pants and a new pair of shoes every day” and “had the same medical facilities that the white man had.” The Klan was “just protecting the people — all the people, black and white.” If you really believe that, H.K., we suggest you skip straight down this list to award No. 1 and join up.

3. Weakest Relationship With Reality Award

The Southern Poverty Law Center last year engaged in a sort of epic battle with Lou Dobbs, the CNN host who has probably done more to defame immigrants than any other public figure in contemporary America. The struggle was epitomized by a debate over Dobbs’ claim that the United States had experienced a surge of 7,000 new cases of leprosy in a recent three-year period, due at least in part to immigrants. In a seemingly endless series of debates, interviews and on his own show, Dobbs stuck to his guns, despite crystal-clear government statistics that pegged the number of new cases for the years in question at 398. The whole sorry affair [23] was dramatized best in a comment Dobbs made to Lesley Stahl of CBS’ “60 Minutes,” which first pointed out Dobbs’ error in a profile of the broadcaster that aired last May. Said Dobbs: “If we reported it, it’s a fact.” Stahl asked how Dobbs could guarantee that. “Because I’m the managing editor, and that’s how we do business.” Ah, NOW we understand.

2. Creepiest Psychotherapist Award
Richard Cohen won this one by acclamation, but it didn’t become official until we convinced our own CEO — Richard Cohen [24] — that we weren’t talking about him. The Cohen in question describes himself as “ex-gay” and conducts controversial “healing touch” therapy [25] that involves men striving to rid themselves of their homosexuality cradling and rocking other men in their arms. This technique was demonstrated by the licensed psychotherapist on Paula Zahn’s CNN show, an appearance that also included Cohen’s excited demonstration of “bioenergetics,” which involves beating on chairs with tennis rackets while shouting, “Mom, why did you do this to me?” The CNN appearance was almost universally described as a disaster, and Cohen’s name promptly disappeared from several “ex-gay” websites.

1. Most Surprising ‘Hate’ Group Award
For the better part of 142 years, the Ku Klux Klan has been the most infamous racist group in America, leading a campaign of terror that involved murders, lynchings, rapes, castrations, bombings, church arsons, and any number of other horrors. But now comes the Alabama Christian Klan, “The Voice of the New Civil Rights Era,” with a Web page [26] that currently features an approving photo of Birmingham’s black mayor and a banner announcing an upcoming Klan rally in rather unusual (for the Klan) terms: “Birmingham At a Crossroads: Can We Come Together?” This is followed by the announcement of a “diligent campaign” to get other Klan groups to abandon their racism and shun any “acts of disrespect to any community.” The man behind the group, Trussville, Ala., resident Ken Mier [27], already has taken credit [28] for the decision by another Klan group to cancel a rally last November, saying in an E-mail to Hatewatch that he considered this “a victory for the Christian residence [sic] of Alabama.” Way to go, Ken!

And with that, we wrap up the year here at Hatewatch. We’ll be taking the next two weeks off, but you can expect to see us again the week of Jan. 7, followed by a whole year of lively posts skewering the American radical right. Stick around long enough, and it’ll be time for the Hatewatch 2nd Annual Year-End Smackdown Awards — an event we’ll soon start storing up goodies for. In the meantime, happy holidays!

Thank you, and, in accepting this award, I’d like to thank all the Jews, niggers and queers who helped me by making themselves inviting targets; I’d like to thank Al Sharpton, for infuriating the entire white population of America with the Jena 6; I’d like to thank the NAACP, for repeatedly increasing my fame by launching repeated legal campaigns against me and losing; and most of all I’d like to thank Mark Potok and his friends at the Roanoke Times, just for being there to always make sure people knew I stood against their communism and faggotry, even when most people wouldn’t have known I was there.

Thanks for this post. It give me hope for some sense of human decency. In NC of course we have ALIPAC just recently highlighted in ADL’s [29] demonizing Hispanics. We also have mainstream conservative organizations [30] with [31].

With the exception of Strom, it seems the SPLC considers anyone who encourages young white girls to have children guilty of being a “gross pervert”.

The Alabama Christian Klan would like to extend it’s appreciation to the Hatewatch Investigators for the absence of Negative Comments aimed toward our efforts.

We are highly motivated to become a part of the Positive Voice of the New Civil rights ERA.

Yes, with prayer and forgiveness all things are possible.

Thank You

Congrats on this. It must have been hard to narrow the list down to only 10. Maybe in the new year you can share some of the runners-up — haters to watch in 2008.

Happy holidays all,

Mark

Do I get a plaque, trophy or certificate for being the “Most Annoying Snot-Nosed College Kid”? Is there going to be a ceremony of some kind?

It is an honor to be mentioned in an article along with people like Lou Dobbs, Bill O’Reilly, Jerome Corsi, Tom Tancredo, Jim Gilchrist, and Nick Griffin.

This award is going on my résumé.

As a proud NON-WHITE American Patriot and an avid fan of SPLC/Hatewatch/Intelligence Reports. I would like to extend my heart felt thanks to the writers and reporters of this organization, who worked their butts off trying to expose the insidious, hidious and monstrous truths of White Supremacist hate groups of all sorts, all levels(no pun intended for Ken Meir).

SPLC-Keep-it-alive!!!!

On a 2nd thought, I forgot to mentioned that may I suggest adding another wacked hit to your list?
I thought you be interested in adding “Laine Lawless” to your most hated list awards. Laine Lawless is a butch lesbian(no offense to the lesbian community but Laine is not a member of your community as a whole). Laine is notorious and makes a living burning Mexican Flags near the Mexican consulates. Her real name is Roberta Dill and took up the name Laine Lawless because she is a fan of “XENA: Warrior Princess” you know, the lady who fights and kills men? Anyhow, you can get her full story here:

http/www.phoenixnewtimes.com/2007-02-15/news

In my book, I think she is worthy enough to be named to queen of hate for 2007.
And finally….Merry Christmas everybody.

Yet another testament to just how “tolerant” those who own and operate the Southern Pervert Lunatic Center (SPLC) really are. An entire organization that exists for the sole purpose of depriving people of its First Amendment rights. I am beginning to think that I need to write a letter to the State Bar of Alabama inquiring as to why Morris Dees has not been disbarred – or at least disciplined – for being a party to the SPLC’s continued tactics of defamation and intimidation, as well as its practice of constantly filing of frivolous lawsuits. On the other hand, I saw that my name was not on this list. I will be sure to work harder in 2008. SLWS!

#11 Comment By BWhite On December 23, 2007 @ 5:08 pm

There isn’t one person on your list that I’m familiar with. I sent a copy of it to my internet comrads and got one or two who recognized most of the names on the list, but knew little about them.

But groups we do know about that are unequivocally steeped in hate, such as, The Mexican Mafia, La Raza, La Voz de Aztlan, Meecha, Lulac, The Black Panthers, Black Muslims, The Bloods and Crips, The Gangster Disciples, The Brown Berets, The Tan Klan, et al, are not even given honorable mention, and I know for a fact they wield considerably more power and influence than the groups above, because they’re mentioned and referred to in many situations throughout the net, and the police and FBI have set up special units to deal with every single one of them. In fact people within many of these organizations have made open hateful comments about whites and Jews.

And if the contention is that some of the above are considered “gangs” and fall into the crime category, I can only say that whoever regards them as not being authentic racist hate groups who do criminal things is pretty naive about what the real world is all about.

And, don’t forget the jihadists who might not be as active here as in Europe, but to say they’re not a critical threat ….or to omit them from a list of hate groups……is simply a blatant lie. The FBI is in the process of watching many Mosques, as well as one openly jihadist bunch, outside of Atlanta I believe. I don’t know if I’m correct about the location, however. I read an article about them in a mainstream newspaper several weeks ago.

There are other hate groups also that I can’t specifically recall at the moment.

But, anyway, what about them?

I mean, I’m having problems regarding the SPLC as a legitimate Hatewatch organization when it consistently dwells on insignificant white groups with little or no real following, but never writes anything about the VAST number of non-white hate groups that simply ABOUND in this country.

Are you people just self hating whites who are anti-white? You give every indication of being just that.

That’s why I took the time to write this. That, and because I’m getting sick of being associated with promoting hate just because I’m white.

My advice to the SPLC? Better become more honest than you have been, because in this age of the internet it’s much harder to bamboozle people than it has been in the past.

Something is not right with this picture.

Bud White: A friend just brought to my attention that my first initial and last name is the same as the “Bill White” above in the article. I just want to say that I do not know him and if I were he, I wouldn’t be writing a post using anything but an alias.

Just wanted to straighten that out.

That one of your commenters adds the Civitas Institute to this list is not just dishonest, it’s low. Civitas is neither racist, nor nativist, nor homophobic. They simply respect the rule of law and what it means to be a citizen (hence the name). It’s pretty unfortunate that Greg Flynn would come onto a “Law” center Website and imply that people are racist for wishing to uphold immigration laws. And while we may all agree with the need for comprehensive immigration reform, these fringe types want to abandon the law at the periphery for the sake of the law at the center–citizenship be damned.

#14 Comment By gregflynn On December 24, 2007 @ 7:13 pm

A little backgound on Max. He famously said:

If boiling people alive best served the interests of the American people, then it would neither be moral or immoral.

Civitas provides fodder to racists by failing to distinguish between foreign-born US citizens, foreign born legal non-citizens and illegal non-citizens, especially those of Hispanic origin.

As a long time reader of Hatewatch, I can’t help but feel that the radical right is not the only form of hatred that needs unmasking. Extremists, whether left or right, need to be exposed. The extreme American left is as dangerous as the extreme right. All irrational hatred is liberty’s enemy.

Crossbow: I’m with you, Walt. It disturbs me that we never see left-wing hate groups on SPLC’s web site or Intelligence Report, nor do we see non-white racist hate-mongers of which there are plenty as the above poster (White) has revealed.

In fact, I’m a news junkie and can say with some authority and definite knowledge that there are far more left wing hate groups and non-white hate groups than there are radical white supremacist groups. Far more. Yet no mention on this site.

Why not? Aren’t we all supporting a society that wants hate eliminated? What good is eliminating radical supremacist hate groups, when the others on the other side are worse and more numerous? Tell me if I’m wrong, but unless we do, won’t hate still exist to a great degree if we don’t decry ALL HATE MONGERS no matter their race, nationality, gender, or political views?

After five years, I’m beginning to get a bit suspicious.

#17 Comment By Walt Hilderman On December 26, 2007 @ 11:58 am

Crossbow: Yeah, I’ve been reading Hatewatch since the 90s when it was called Klanwatch. As part of my job, I relied on the SPLC to provide a national perspective to some of the radical groups that I dealt with locally as a police officer. The SPLC was, and is, the only public source of information on right wing radicals and it usually does a pretty fair job of intelligence gathering in that one catagory. However, the few left wingers who show up on their site are only window dressing. SPLC credibility suffers from its overall hard left political agenda. They are playing to the big money left, (Move On, etc.) because that’s where the serious contributers are. It’s a shame. The SPLC could actually have an effect on hatred in America if they would focus their efforts on all hate-mongers, instead of just the ones on the right. Sadly, the SPLC has chosen money over action.

#18 Comment By Rob On December 26, 2007 @ 8:31 pm

The SPLC’s hard work (waste of time?) never ceases to crack me up. That they would spend so much time and effort on “exposing” hate instead of doing something useful with their time is laughable to the extreme. Like the war on drugs, war on terror, and war on everything else, it’s more enticing to say you’re trying to put the fire out by fanning the flames, than it is to just put the fire out. Want to end racism? Racists do too. Send the ****** to Liberia with the other former slaves, the mexicans back to Mexico, Cubans back to Cuba, Muslims back to whatever they came from, and Voila! No more racism! Racism is done, dead, over, kaput! See how easy that is? America was conquered by whites, for whites. There’s nothing that says these undesirables have to stay here in OUR country. Hell, we spent over one hundred years oppressing them hoping they’d get the hint and leave on their own. Unfortunately, they’re too stupid. So help us END racism once and for all instead of interfering with our efforts in the right direction. Idiots.

“In fact, I am a news junkie and can say with some authority and definite knowledge that there are far more left wing hate groups and non-white hate groups than there are of the radical white supremacist groups. Far more. Yet no mentioned on this site.” LOL!!!!

So tell us if you claimed this is so. “Far More. Yet no mentioned on this site”. You gotta be kidding me, otherwise stop smoking whatever it is that you’re doped up on. In order to prove your point, I dare you post your source to back up your claims. You probably can’t.
Why? Because there is no legitimate resource compared to SPLC who can give a better acurate truths of what “left wing hate groups” you are indicating is a legitimate hategroup worthy enough to be called a hategroup. “FAR MORE”??? I strongly doubted it. In your decrepit mind if you talking about “groups” such as bloods, crips, mexican mafia, ms-13 etc, etc, then you’re WAY OFF topic. We are not discussing prison based street gangs for one. Groups such as “La Raza” hasn’t comiited any “hate crimes” as far as I can tell. I know for a fact they’re only excersizing their First Amendments rights just what STORMFRONT.ORG is doing. Although, that doesn’t mean I justify what they(La Raza)are saying. I disagree with them entirely. But that’s not my point. It appears that the only people who are expressing opposition towards SPLC are White Supremacists symphathizers and foloowers. The KKK/Neo-Nazis hold the undisputed reputation as the most hated yet notorious for hate crimes ever reported/un-reported in our nation`s history dating as far back as the 19th century to this day. It appears that America has a short term memory span when it comes down to our nation`s history. In fact, the White Man`s hate crime was first applied to the Aborginal peoples through acts of mass murder and relocation. Mainstream media does not always report hate crimes committed by these xenophobic suffering inbreds who instill fear amongst society as a whole. And that’s what SPLC is all about, they are the hero`s that non-whites and Jews need to battle the injustices and bias runned by the Whites But because SPLC takes a stand against hate, they are also a target for defamation and vindictivities by White`s biased Judiciary systems and Law Enforcement who target minorities on a daily basis. Time is changes and many Caucasians are getting desperate which is why we are seeing a surge of blathering hate mongering nativists movements nationwide that needs to be addressed by educating the public.

CobraWays ended his (or her) tirade with a completely accurate statement: “Time is chang[ing] and many Caucasians are getting desperate which is why we are seeing a surge of blathering hate mongering nativists movements nationwide that needs to be addressed by educating the public.” The white backlash to America’s rapidly changing racial make up is predictable and dangerous. The same thing is going on in Europe. It will be worse here. But, CobraWays’s “blame whitey for all of this” mentality is both racist and counterproductive. The same is true of the of SPLC’s one-sided reporting. It is true that the problem “needs to be addressed by educating the public” but what the public is getting is political spin from both sides and very little educating. This polarizes the public and makes it more likely that racial, religious and cultural violence in our country will continue to escalate.

Freedom of speech is terrific. It’s guaranteed by the bill of rights. We must never surrender it.Physical attacks are not protected speech nor are attaks on property. But people can say pretty much what they want. You can even talk about overthrowing the government if in so doing you are not condoning and immediate time for this to occur or promoting a specific act of violence. As long as it’s off in the future somewhere with no particular plan or schedule it’s legal.but it is not legal to attempt to accomplish it with violent acts in the near future. If more people understood the wide latitude for freedom of speech in the U.S. then few would be against it.If one wants to invest their free speech in verbally attacking others that’s their business. No one should have a problem with being verbally attacked if they engage in the same thing themselves. If your going to stand in the kitchen you’ve got to stand close to the fire.People who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw bricks.Sticks and stones may break my bones but words hurt no one at all.?

A test of conspiracy revealed that whithin 6 hours after posting the above contact “free” geocities website has exposed an ongoing conspiracy that the SPLC will attempt to extenguish even the most non hostile white Christian organizations.

Our strength is obviously to much for the media to handle.

It appears by this action that they do not want to make any effort in which to achieve mutual goals for all Christian Citizens.
Or maybe they are becomming concerned as to the findings of our Investigations over the last Five years.?
Our email is still working . See you all in Birmingham in 2008. [34]

We ask that the SPLC and HateWatch investigators reconsider their attack on our Agenda as they Know not what we are capable of accomplishing in a court of law.

Thank you for the Conspiracy Theory Award. Your award is a testimony to the hard work that members of The John Birch Society have been doing over the past few years on this issue

But why do you list it? I thought your group was suppose to expose racism? You folks are violating your own charter. When are you going to go after hate groups like La Raza and MALDEF or report all of the violent crimes committed by illegal aliens? I guess the big foundations that support SPLC would not appreciate such things and the trust-fund elite that respond to your silly fund rasing letters would take exception to such things.

Hal Shurtleff, Boston, MA

P.S. Please get your facts straight. The John Birch Society never called Eisenhower a communist.

#26 Comment By Mark Potok On December 31, 2007 @ 1:22 pm

I don’t usually respond to this kind of post, but the patently ridiculous assertion that JBS never called Eisenhower a Communist is so plainly false that it deserves some kind of rejoinder. This is from Wikipedia, but the same facts have been written up in countless serious academic books.

[35]

Robert Welch and The Politician

Republican mainstream unhappiness with the Birch Society intensified after
Welch circulated a letter calling President Dwight D. Eisenhower a possible
“conscious, dedicated agent of the Communist Conspiracy.” Welch went further
in a book titled The Politician, written in 1956 and published by the JBS in
1963. He said also that President Franklin D. Roosevelt knew about the
Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in advance, but said nothing because he
wanted to get his country in the war.

The book spawned much debate in the 1960s over whether the author really
intended to call Eisenhower a Communist. G. Edward Griffin, one of his
friends, thinks that he meant collectivist. The charge’s sensationalism led
many conservatives and Republicans to shy away from the group. The book was
slightly toned down in the published version with respect to the unpublished
version. Welch later tried to distance himself with the work by saying that
it was not originally meant to be published because it was just a
confidential letter among friends.[citation needed]

In the published edition that excises the section just quoted above, there
is a footnote on page 278 (footnote 2) and its text appears on pages
cxxxviii–cxxxix at the back of the book.[9] That text is as follows:

* “At this point in the original manuscript, there was one paragraph in
which I expressed my own personal belief as to the most likely explanation
of the events and actions with this document had tried to bring into focus.
In a confidential letter, neither published nor offered for sale and
restricted to friends who were expected to respect the confidence but offer
me in exchange their own points of view, this seemed entirely permissible
and proper. It does not seem so for an edition of the letter that is now to
be published and given, probably, fairly wide distribution. So that
paragraph, and two explanatory paragraphs, connected with it, have been
omitted here. And the reader is left entirely free to draw his own
conclusions.” [10]

* On page 278 of The Politician, Welch summarized, from his perspective,
the only two possible interpretations of President Eisenhower’s motives:
“The role he has played, as described in all the pages above, would fit just
as well into one theory as the other; that he is a mere stooge or that he is
a Communist assigned the specific job of being a political front man.”

* On page 279, Welch discusses the 3 stages by which Communists came to
control the U.S. Presidency. In stages 1 and 2, FDR and Truman were “used”
by Communists. In Truman’s case, according to Welch, he was used “with his
knowledge and acquiescence as the price he consciously paid for their making
him President.”

* Then, with respect to Eisenhower, from page 279 of the 1963 published
edition of The Politician: “In the third stage the Communists have installed
in the Presidency a man who, for whatever reasons, appears intentionally to
be carrying forward Communist aims… With regard to this third man,
Eisenhower, it is difficult to avoid raising the question of deliberate
treason.”

The original formulation of this comment from the 1958 unpublished version
of The Politician is as follows:

* “In the third stage, in my own firm opinion, the Communists have one
of their own actually in the Presidency. For this third man, Eisenhower,
there is only one possible word to describe his purposes and his actions.
That word is treason.” [11]

There are many other passages in both the 1963 published edition and the
1958 unpublished version of The Politician wherein Welch makes clear that he
considered Eisenhower to be a Communist and a traitor. Below are a few
examples from the unpublished version (aka “private letter”) which was
mailed by Welch to friends and acquaintances in the summer of 1958.[citation
needed]

* “In my opinion the chances are very strong that Milton Eisenhower is
actually Dwight Eisenhower’s superior and boss within the Communist Party.”
[12]

* “We think that an objective survey of Eisenhower’s associates and
appointments shows clever Communist brains, aided by willing Communist
hands, always at work to give the Communists more power, and to weaken the
anti-Communist resistance.” [13]

* In discussing Eisenhower’s appointment of Philip C. Jessup, Robert
Welch refers to Eisenhower as “he and his fellow Communists.” [14]

* In discussing Eisenhower’s appointment of James B. Conant, Robert
Welch refers to “the appointment of Conant…made by a Communist
President…” [15]

* “For Eisenhower and his Communist bosses and their pro-Communist
appointees are gradually taking over our whole government right under the
noses of the American people.” [16]

* Welch refers to Eisenhower’s actions in Europe which “show his
sympathies with the Communist cause and friendship for the Kremlin
tyrants…” [17]

* “For the sake of honesty, however, I want to confess here my own
conviction that Eisenhower’s motivation is more ideological than
opportunistic. Or, to put it bluntly, I personally think that he has been
sympathetic to ultimate Communist aims, realistically willing to use
Communist means to help them achieve their goals, knowingly accepting and
abiding by Communist orders, and consciously serving the Communist
conspiracy for all of his adult life.” [18]

* “But my firm belief that Dwight Eisenhower is a dedicated, conscious
agent of the Communist conspiracy is based on an accumulation of detailed
evidence so extensive and so palpable that it seems to me to put this
conviction beyond any reasonable doubt.” [19]

* “To paraphrase Elizabeth Churchill Brown, ‘the only enemies the
American people have to fear are the enemies in their midst.’ The most
conspicuous and injurious of these enemies today, I believe, is named Dwight
David Eisenhower. He is either a willing agent or an integral and important
part of a conspiracy of gangsters determined to rule the world at any cost.”
[20]

Conservative writer William F. Buckley, Jr., an early friend and admirer of
Welch, regarded his accusations against Eisenhower as “paranoid and idiotic
libels” and attempted unsuccessfully to purge Welch from the JBS. Welch
responded by attempting to take over Young Americans for Freedom, a
conservative youth organization founded with assistance from Buckley. The
JBS now maintains summer camps which operate across the country and teach
youth the ideas of its members. [21]

To Mark Potak:

Whether or not JBS called Eisenhower a communist is so insignificant as to be in the realm of “who cares.” What impact does that have on their credibility, or lack of it, today? It was a stupid statement, but hardly one that merits any kind of definitive response.

It’s rare to see such a definitive fixation directed toward such minutae, unless it involves someone who is trapped within an envelopment of inconsequential matters to the point of paranoia.

I notice that posts not favorable to SPLC have been shut down, yet space is deemed appropriate for this kind of ridiculousness.

SPLC heavily criticizes those on the right of bias and racism, but the only forum where my legitimate posts are not allowed are on far leftist web sites like this.

As stated above: Something is wrong with this picture.

Anybody or any group that is based in legitimate concepts and theories is not afraid to have their ideas and policies challenged. Those that rely on propaganda have to squelch free speech in order to protect their ideology from criticizm fir fear the light of day will destroy them.

With the start of the year 2008, SPLC`s new year`s resolution has continued since their formation(formerly known as Klanwatch). I look forward to another year in hate, being reported by the Nation`s only legitimate agency capable of providing intelligence reports on Hatecrimes, Racism, Biases, and Bigotry etc. SPLC is a force to be reckon with, by their records of taking down some of the Nation`s most insidious and evil groups, hence sueing the crap out of them in an effort to disperse and dismantle the enemy and proven to everybody to they(SPLC) is a worthy foe of White Supremacy and hate. With the Illegal Immigration debate on the tip of the iceberg, there is no doubt–that more hate crimes, injustices, and oppression will continue on both sides. I implore SPLC to remain vigilant in reporting the hate filled diatribes spewed forth from domestic extremists groups such as Nativisim, Neo-Nazism, and KKK-like gatherings. Some of these bloggers on here are crying and yapping at SPLC for their undisputed reports on hate mongering rural inbreds. This social sickness comes after a mass wave of human immigrants of foreign nationals flooding our lands. But because of that, so too does the nativism and extreminism, which is sobering enough to instill a cause for alarm. I am more worried about the “White Power” aganda no more than I am worried about the illegals. But both are a grave and dire threat to our American way of life.

Westernman: Your points are reasonably well taken. I too, have supported much of SPLC’s work in exposing certain groups: the KKK, LoS, CCC, and the SCV. However, if the SPLC expects to maintain its reputation as a credible intelligence service, it needs to cast a wider net. When the SPLC blog writers openly state that they are only interested in exposing hatred on the right side of the political spectrum, they are missing the point: ALL irrational social and political hatred should be exposed and dealt with. Many more people would gladly support the SPLC if it was more comprehensive in the reporting of hate-related incidents and groups. Their Intelligence Report and blog should be more objective, comprehensive and geared more toward solving the problem of hatred, whatever its source. As it is now, often they appear to be pandering to the left side of American politics. Folks like me must repeatedly answer the charge that we are in lockstep with the SPLC’s overall leftist agenda anytime we agree with anything they say about anybody. I believe that the SPLC has grown content with steady financial support from the left and has chosen job security over doing any real good. America is getting more and more polarized. As you imply, that situation breeds the hatred that will someday consume us all. It’s NOT about the Right, it’s about the HATRED. Walt.

Walt Hilderman,

You are correct. I just started reading into the websites of La Raza and Mecha trying to get an insight of what they’re about. And what troubles me for instance is how “Mecha”(a non-profit organization consist of students) claims that they are the true “indigneous peoples of this “Aztlan”. And their motives is questionalble. So I asked some of my Native American buddies what their opinion is on this group. They could not relate to Mecha and do not support or associate with them in any way. Most Natives are primarliy English speakers and their opinions vary, they believed that this Latino/Chicano movement is a theft of their identity their cultural significance and heritage. I guess the same can be said for some Black Americans too. Look up Ted Hayes @chooseblackamerica.com and the Crispus Attack Brigade. However, I can’t blame them for that. It is still a perplexing issue on where most Native Americans stand on immigration. But as far as these groups(La Raza or Mecha) is concerned, I haven’t yet read anywhere for them committing any hatecrimes, there is none that I am able to look up other than the fact that they are just excersizing their Freedom of Speech just what the National Socialist Movement(MSN) or Stormfront.org is doing. SPLC does indeed report hate crimes comitted by Mexican Mafia and other Latino street gangs in L.A. Look into SPLC`s “ethnic cleansing in L.A.” 2006 intelligence reports states that Mexicans gangsters are committing hate crimes.

Ok everyone, let’s try this, take a minute to look only at our own Cities and be honest enough to identify all hate groups. Yes, even of our own race.
Then let us all identify the learned behaviour of the past . Sure there have been crimes commited in the name of the “CAUSE” and or “MOVEMENTS”
Hate Crimes are random of race. Some worse than others.
Well I wonder if someone left a watermellon on the hood of my car if I could blame it on the NAACP ? Not funny but something to humor yourself with as we stand around with our thumb up our azz waiting on reality to create bloodshed.

The KlanWatch has indeed intensified, but, As you have seen in 2007, there is now a Klan watching the Klan. No negative junk out there just a group that saw the problem and had the ballz enough to stand up to even the worst and most notorious Foul mouthed individuals.

If our society does not have the initiative to stand up and listen to those sitting down, then we all shall perish.
So, everyone make an entry here on this blog and focus on what you see with your own eyes.

Westernman, et al: I really have no idea about left wing hate groups. I see local news reports from around the country: fake hate crimes staged by minorities do occur, Confederate monuments get defaced, an appreciable number of minority suspects commit street crimes that have racial/cultural components. These things don’t make the network news much less the SPLC news. I get the weekly SPLC hate crime report; it just seems lop-sided. Given the SPLC’s moto of “Unmasking the Radical Right” my perception is not unreasonable. For instance, I have a gut feeling that a lot of Muslims in this country are preaching hatred against Christians and against western culture. I believe that most people are turning a blind-eye to it in the name of political correctness or out of fear of appearing to be racists. The SPLC should be working on that kind of hatred. The bombings in England by Muslims who grew-up there should tell us, in this country, that we need to be better informed on that issue. How much of that kind of intelligence gathering do we see from the SPLC? We can’t depend on most of the American media. They sold-out to the left sometime ago. The Feds do a lot of work, but it’s all classified. So, where do we go for a non-politically spun source of information on ALL hate groups and hate crimes? Walt.

The SPLC was, and is, the only public source of information on right wing radicals and it usually does a pretty fair job of intelligence gathering in that one catagory. However, the few left wingers who show up on their site are only window dressing.

Dude, it’s simple. USA Right wingers love violence. USA Left wingers do not. There have been violent leftist groups in the past, the Weathermen, the SLA, etc., but they have had nothing even remotely close to the range or staying power of the dedicated Right Wing hate groups, like the KKK or anti-Gay groups. That is why the SPLC focuses on right-wing hate groups- there are so many more and they are so much more powerful.

Crossbow response: “Well, I have to agree with your there, Westernman, I haven’t read anything about them committing hate crimes…………..or should I say “yet,” because their rhetoric, though covered by free speech, is more vile than anything I’ve read from any other group in the country. They even advocate killing white people.

Takle a look at this guy, Professor Guiterrez, still working at the Univ. of Texas after the below quote:

“We have an aging white America. They are not making babies. They are dying. The explosion is in our population… I love it. They are shitting in their pants with fear. I love it.”, “We have got to eliminate the gringo, and what I mean by that is if the worst comes to the worst, we have got to kill him.”– Professor Jose Angel Gutierrez, University of Texas.Reference is MSE HTML source doc: URL

Or how about this guy. Another professor. He doesn’t specifically say they should kill the Gringo, but he wants to take over the US Southwest by any means necessary which is the same thing.

“Republica del Norte,” the Republic of the North, which would include the present U.S. states of California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, plus southern Colorado, along with several current Mexican states, is “an inevitability.” The new “Hispanic homeland” should be brought into being “by any means necessary.” — Charles Truxillo, professor, University of New Mexico

And then there’s this guy, another high profile elitist, loudly proclaiming racist intent to take over California.

“California is going to be a Hispanic state, and anyone who doesn’t like it should leave. They should go back to Europe.” — Mario Obledo, co-founder and President of MALDEF, 1968 to 1973; President of the League of United Latin American Citizens 1983-85, California State Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare 1975-82, awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Bill Clinton Obledo

“The American Southwest seems to be slowly returning to the jurisdiction of Mexico without firing a single shot.” — Excelsior – The national newspaper of Mexico

“We are practicing La Reconquista in California.” — Jose Pescador Osuna, Mexican Consul General

“We need to avoid a white backlash by using codes understood by Latinos…non-Latinos aren’t watching, they aren’t raising questions”–Fernando Guerra, professor, Loyola Marymount

Crossbow: Here’s my big complaint about all of this. None of it is reported and condemned by any mainstream source, including the SPLC. Though, so far as I know, they aren’t in the process of doing anything violent, is there any question that they’re advocating hate and a violent takeover of the US Southwest, if “worse comes to worst?”

If it’s hate we want to control, how about starting here?

Athiest says:

“USA right wingers love violence”

It is so totally true and the history shows it. Nonetheless, they do possessed some adequate degree of violent tendencies. Not only that but they also commit the MOST hatecrimes responsible, past and present. Look here:

[40]

“In 1996, the state of Colorado reported 133 hatecrimes with 10 incidents at the University. And only 4 of which were comitted by non-whites.”

4 out of 133 incidents committed by no-whites??? Wow!!! One good example.
That certainly says it all. Keep the focus on White Supremacists, SPLC.
After reading boths sides Whites and Browns. I will have to say that the White Supremacists says the most vile crap ever spewed forth, again not because of their most violent rehtorics but the MOST speeches ever recorded. There are numerous postings that I will not place here because I don’t have to, its no secret that the Extreme Radical Right promotes what they call “the coming race war in the Americas” or “Civil War 2″. …..some really pathetic crap there.

So who’s sorry now???

Crossbow response: That’s absolutely false, and it is just that kind of disinformation that has prompted those of us here who have vividly pointed out the depth and scope of anti-white violence to call for a halt to it by groups who claim to be against hate.

Did you look at the above links regarding anti-white black violence? I could give you a hundred more, and the reason they occur is because they’re never criticized for their hateful racist attacks, and it’s people like you that condone them by pretending they don’t exist. You’re trying to convince us the right wingers are doing more? Preposterous!

The big problem today, my friend, is anti-white hatred and violence, which so grossly overshadows these insignificant right wing groups you want us to believe are powerful it isn’t even a close call. Right wing fanatics are a miniscule bunch in this country, and every last one of them are poorly funded or not funded at all. The real problem with racism and hate come from anti-white blacks and HIspanics in this country. Asians and others are o.k. and are glad to be here in order to improve their lot.

The only reason anyone or any group would pretend otherwise is because they’re not pursuing an agenda of anti-hate, but are pursuing a policy of hatred themselves against the radical right, but, most importantly, they’re condoning black/Hispanic on white attacks, because it would take away from their agenda if they did so. To say the SPLC doesn’t give much attention to non-white on white violence and hatred, because they’re concentrating so much on the radical right fringe is ludicrous. Hate is hate, and concentration on the lesser of two factions is ludicrous.

Claiming radical right wingers, skinheads and the like are anything but insignificant is plain out and out bias.

But times are changing. The comment forums after the mainline newspapers on the net today are chocked full of white rage from Joe Sixpack and Sally Soccermom. They’re finally beginning to notice the disparity between reports of a scant few white racist attacks and those by non-whites, and they’re sounding outraged and radical. Blogs from people who are mainline conservatives are also now inclusive of anti-white violence and hatred, where they weren’t before.

Joe Horn in Texas shot two black burglars in his front yard, and it looks as if The Texas castle law will protect him from prosecution, and the killing was quite blatant.

Literally dozens of relatively RECENT black on white attacks and murders, are finally beginning to draw white backlashes. , but what is so significant is that the voices rising in protest are getting more numerous and far more strident. .

The groundswell I believe really began with the Fat Tuesday, black on white beatings in New Orleans and Seattle a while back, where innocent whites were assaulted by blacks. One white male was killed by having his head beat in with a club by blacks as he was trying to help a white girl who was being mobbed and beaten by them. With each atrocity that has occurred since then we’re seeing more and more whites speaking out more and getting progressively more militant. Thanks to the internet black on white attacks are known instantly and the MSM has a problem with trying to cover them up, because they’re forced to report them locally, and in this day and age of the internet nothing is now known only locally. The growing anger by whites has accrelerated since then, with most of it becoming very noticable the last 3 or 4 years.

And what is especially significant about this trend is that several states have now passed some form of the “Stand your ground law,” or the “Castle Doctrine,” which gives a victim the right to use deadly force against an attacker to protect himself or his property against the threat of death or serious injury. The first, of course was Florida, then Texas, Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Indiana, Idaho, Kentucky, Michigan, Mississippi and South Dakota. Similar bills are pending in 16 other states. The NRA is undertaking a big push right now to encourage passage of the law in states that don’t yet have it.

In addition to this law, if I’m remembering correctly, there are now 30 states that allow concealed carry permits, with more to follow.

What all this means, of course, is that we have a growing segment of the white population that is getting angry enough to start shooting in self defense, and laws are being passed to give them a right to carry a concealed weapon and the legal right to use it without question.

So there could be many more Joe Horn incidents in the foreseeable future, and whether he’s indicted or not doesn’t matter. People will just be more determined to shoot within the limits of the law.

With the economy now teetering on the brink of a severe economic downturn, it is within reason to give serious consideration to an armed white backlash, because there’s no question that anti-white hatred and violence will accelerate, although I will concede that provocation for such a happening will have to be quite severe in itself, but the way things are going there might be just that. My voice is raising the alarm, because I don’t want to see that happen.

?To Atheist: The problem with your assertion is that the public doesn’t know how many leftist hate crimes or groups there really are and no one is telling us. Political correctness and one sided, agenda driven reporting by most of the media and the SPLC allows folks like you to say, “If I’m not hearing about left wing violence, it’s not there.” It’s the same old “if a tree falls in the forest…” question. (Answer: Well of course it makes a noise, dude.) There may well be more right-wing hate groups than leftist ones; I’d love to know. Even if you’re correct, folks like me will never believe it without proof: i.e., a comprehensive (not “balanced”) accounting of all hate groups and all hate crimes, whatever their political orientation might be. Again, I’m not faulting the SPLC for what they tell us, I fault them for what they don’t tell us and for why they don’t. Walt

Westernman wrote: “It is so totally true and the history shows it. Nonetheless, they do possessed some adequate degree of violent tendencies. Not only that but they also commit the MOST hatecrimes responsible, past and present. ”

Crossbow response: Yes, their rhetoric can be hostile, but there’s no way you can make a case for them committing more hate crimes with a link that reports only white on non-white violence, because every non-white on white assault and many of the murders are purely and simply hate crimes, but are never regarded as such. Why? Because the authorities know that to give the same press to non-white on white violence would probably cause large scale civil upheaval, and they think they’re being civic-minded by keeping a lid on things.

And another thing is that you’re still condoning the suppression of anti-white attacks. Why? Surely you must be like the rest of us and are concerned for the safety of your family and friends, are you not? The silence these so-called hate watch groups offer ENCOURAGES these kinds of hostilities, tacitly encouraging these criminals to go at it non-stop. Since condemning the attacks would undoubtedly help curtail them, and it isn’t done, I can reach no conclusion other than they’re o.k. with them. Why? Are they trying to start a war, or get more of us killed? I don’t know, but I’m in the process of learning why. Something is wrong with this picture. Concentrating on a few right wing lunatics who don’t have two nickles to rub together and zero power and clout, while ignoring unprovoked non-white racial attacks against innocent people is criminal and starkly indicates that an underlying agenda is at play here.

So far as the media playing down non-white on white attacks, because they fear civil upheaval is concerned, the fact of the matter is that they’re right! If they gave the same press to non-white on white attacks as they do to the reverse, it would indeed cause armed conflict, I have no doubt, because racial animosity and hatred against whites expressed by inter-racial attacks are a 100 plus times more common. They occur almost every day., but nowadays they’re not able to keep a lid on things as effective as before, and we’re seeing a white backlash.

Forget white racist groups, Westernman. The big problem now is coming within the mainstream white community who are getting fed up. Read the newspaper forums about the latest anti-white beating on a bus against a white lady by 9 blacks, and you’ll find an unusually large amount of radical, outraged posts are coming from middleclass America. Read some of the conservative blogs like World Net Daily that has readers in the millions everyday. They didn’t used to report on anti-white violence, but they are now. And don’t respond by claiming WND is a right wing hate group, because that’s nonsense. Conservative? Yes. But hateful? Not hardly.

And so far as your claim that skinhead groups are citing the possibility of civil war doesn’t prove anything other than they’ve reached the same conclusion as many others have, including Martin Van Crevald, The Transformation of War, William Lind, Military.com, Pat Buchanan, Dr. Sam Huntington, Harvard, The Clash of Civilizations, etc., and so far as Civil War II is concerned, the book, you’d better damn well believe I’ve read it myself and what the author says makes a lot of sense to me and many others.

Even SPLC in one of its intelligence reports had this to say about the situation today:

The Rift
Evidence of a divide between blacks and Hispanics mounting
By Susy Buchanan

“One after another, the reports have rolled in. From Florida to California, Nevada to New Jersey, even as far away as the state of Washington, the news is getting harder to ignore: There’s trouble brewing between blacks and browns.”

So, while the SPLC isn’t reporting about the numerous non-white in white hate attacks, even they found it hard to ignore that there is much racial problems between the masses that do not involve the white population, indicating that it isn’t just the skinheads who see this.

Your making a mistake by not taking authentic information into consideration, because it comes from people you loathe. An old military intelligence strategy that has won many battles, which involves keeping an ear out for voices everywhere in order to make an accurate analysis of current situations, has taught many tacticians that listening to the opposition could well mean the difference between victory and defeat.

We’re edging closer to all out upheaval every day, and not many are bright enought to see it.
Condemning one side but ignoring the other which is worse by numerous multiples is asking for violent radicalism to thrive.

The most dangerous hate group in the country is the Young Americans for Freedom. They have influenced national elections like none other. Most of what YAF has done is not publicly admitted to being done by the group. It acts like a terrorist organization, but one that is will to sacrifice personal ambitions of power for their ideology of hate.

I heard that they went as far as to take the head of a raccoon and put it in the mailbox of a Latino family. No one reported on this at all. Between the raccoon incident, physically attacked students of color, chasing students of non-traditional sexual orientation around with sticks, and screaming profanities at pedestrians during their infantile protests, I wonder why the university has not taken more serious action against the YAF.

The SPLC is doing a service to democracy by monitoring the Michigan State University Young Americans for Freedom. Keep up the great work!

Holy cripes! Did you just come up with that concept? Dimwit, that all depends on the circumstances surrounding non-white on white crime. If you see a black man punch a white man in a bar(heck we see this all the time in movies and somtimes in reality) is not a “hatecrime regarded as such”.

“Because the authorities that give the press would probably cause a large scale civic upheavel”

The media(mainstream or therwise) have the right to Freedom of the Press to report such crimes. Maybe not in your area but we did see one recently where a non-white family`s residence was vandalized with hate words & swastika graffiti just a couple months back. I can do an archive search for that article if needed.

“And they think they’re being civic-minded by keeping a lid on things”

Yes, and why don’t you ask the local tribes people who are the only race that goes un-reported and neglected considering the increased violence on native women by whites is no exception but a great sample of your quote. Reading your 2nd paragraph is indecipherable and incoherent but making out what you’re trying to say is that you haven’t read a single white supremacist`s website from what I understand with your lack of knowledge in that area. But if you want another example of how dangerous skinheads are then read the SPLC`s recent intelligence reports titled “BAD BLOOD”. This one took place in my state(not my hometown) of Arizona in Maricopa County. Amanda Crow is a good example of White on White hatecrime. And this is the latest incident reported. Now that I have to go to work, be back at it later…..

Marc Antony wrote: “The most dangerous hate group in the country is the Young Americans for Freedom.

“I heard that they went as far as to take the head of a raccoon and put it in the mailbox of a Latino family. No one reported on this at all. Between the raccoon incident, physically attacked students of color, chasing students of non-traditional sexual orientation around with sticks, and screaming profanities at pedestrians during their infantile protests, I wonder why the university has not taken more serious action against the YAF.”

Crossbow wrote: When I read what you had to say above, I ran a Google on the group, Young Americans for Freedom,” and checked some other reliable sources.

The Young Americans for Freedom is a conservative group that has formed on some university campuses, under university guidelines for conduct, rhetoric and the like. They’re pro-Republican, and sometimes sponser speaking events from conservative speakers like Ann Couleter, Tom Tancredo, etc.

When Tom Tancredo arrived to speak, there was an unruly mob that screamed, shouted and just general behaved like neanderthals.

I located a clip reporting it on Fox’s Hannity and Colmes.
[41]

Too, there were reports that after that affair the miscreants attacked a few YAF members with sticks and tried to assault them, chasing them down the street, screaming profanities.

Obviously, what you have done is turned the situation around, intending to give the impression it was the YAF group that was the unruly mob.

The YAF would have had their group accreditation annulled by the university if they did anything like that, and you full well know it. You should be ashamed of yourself for telling such lies. You probably are doing so just because you fanatically despise conservatives, because they disagree with your radical agenda. I suspect that one of those people could have been you in that mob on the Fox clip with the bandanna over his face, because he knew if he were recognized he could be prosecuted.

I’m not sure, but I think that this is the same group who sponsored Ann Coulter to speak and the neanderthals threw a pie in her face.

The only reason anybody could be afraid of listening to another point of view is because the person is so emotionally wrought into a fanatical mindset for a cause that can’t be logically supported, he cannot allow anybody else to speak what he knows is the truth for fear of having his entire base of beliefs assigned to the outer fringes by listeners, and he often displays a frothing mouth in his pursuit to prevent that from happening any way he can.

Like Nazism. Or communism. Or Fascism.

And, as was the policy of the above, he believes the end justify the means.

Crossbow response: I do, and if your comprehension were better you would understand that.

“You are typing in the same blog within the “source” that can provide LINKS to whites on non-whites violence, idiot. You need to shake your numbskull and wake up into realization.”

Crossbow: Heh, heh, heh. Well, when the opposition resorts to name calling, then it’s proof positive they know they’ve lost the argument, but, more importantly, they realize that their only alternative to using logic and facts, which were proven wrong, is to hurl insults.

I would ask you to contact me direct at [36] and I would be more than happy to discuss the matter further. You won’t, of course, because you lack courage.

Westernman: “Holy cripes! Did you just come up with that concept? Dimwit, that all depends on the circumstances surrounding non-white on white crime.

Crossbow: And the crimes I gave links to all prove that these attacks ARE obviously hate crimes if you had the intelligence to understand the reporting and the facts.

W.M. “If you see a black man punch a white man in a bar(heck we see this all the time in movies and somtimes in reality) is not a “hatecrime regarded as such”.

Crossbow: And you go on to say I’m not making sense? LOL. There were no claims that such an incident was a hate crime. Can’t understand that can you?

W.M. :”…..neglected considering the increased violence on native women by whites is no exception but a great sample of your quote. Reading your 2nd paragraph is indecipherable and incoherent but making out what you’re trying to say is that you haven’t read a single white supremacist`s website from what I understand with your lack of knowledge in that area.”

Crossbow: And, again, you have the gall to say somnething I wrote is indecipherable?

You accuse me of being unclear, then follow up with an incoherent rant like that? LOL

Heh, heh, heh. You come across as one of those types who arrive at an event where you don’t want the opposition to speak, scream, rave, and display hysterical grief, then chain yourself to others, with tears streaming down your face, ready to die to prevent rhetoric you delusionally believe will corrupt the world.

And, if somebody would ask you why you do that, you would say that you do so, because you hate fanaticism.

LOL You’re quite entertaining.

OK, guys. This is getting too emotional for us to make credible points with each other. Let’s get back to needing a credible and comprehensive look at hate crime, what constitutes a hate crime, and how the media (SPLC included) covers hate crimes. Example: Down South (was it Mississippi, Alabama?) when some white high school students hung a noose up in a tree on school grounds, it was classified as a hate crime, it’s being prosecuted as a hate crime and everybody heard about it through the media because it was covered as a hate crime. On the other hand: At a college in Gettysburg Pa. a public exhibit featured a Confederate flag that was hung in a noose on a hangman’s scafflod. The display was entitled “The Proper Way to Hang a Confederate Flag.” The display was presented as “art” or “political expression.” There was no police report, no media outrage and no prosecution. Let’s ask ourselves what’s going on with these two incidents and what we can learn from the different ways they are percieved. Walt

Alright guys, I’m back to the table.
First-Walt Hilderman, you are right. Hatecrimes is indeed a sensitive issue. Its no laughing matter. However, I feel the need to address Crossbow in order to set something straight. Because the stuff he says boggles the friggin` mind. I am being understandstood and misquoted by him.
CROSSBOW:
“Heh heh heh”
First you show off your immaturity and lack of seriousness on the topic.

Crossbow says: “I do” in response to my first question. F.Y.I. He talks about me trying to produce a “case with them”. His misunderstanding was that I based facts and because of his own incomprehensions, he thinks I’m playing lawyer. His stance is nonsense.
CB: “when the opposition resorts to name calling”.

Yeah huh….who am I opposing again?
F.Y.I. KKK, Neo-Nazis, Nativists Extremists, La Raza and Mecha,et al etc. Duh…..

“Then its proof positive that they know they lost the arguement”

Huh???? Where, and how is that so, Charlie???

“But more importantly, that they’re only alternative to using logic and fact which was proven wrong.”

Oh my Gosh!!!! Tell me Walt Hilderman is he blind??? I posted absolute factual truths, look again C-bow!!!
Bad Blood posted by the Intelligence Reports right in here!!! I dare you look that up. The other source I posted was an independent source not relavant to SPLC straight from the University of Colorado!!! This tells me you suffer from severe reading incomprehension. Face it, you’re a dimwit.

“Is to hurl insults”
Why, of course skeletor. I have a personality. If you assumed everybody`s gotta think, talk, write like you. Then you’re a loon. Again, unlike you I do not attack other people. Not only you attacked me. You also attacked CobraWays(see above). Yoo attacked the Atheist, Mark Antony and perhaps Walt Hilderman just to name a few.
Enough with your trivial blathers, I will no longer address you after this. Its ridiculous. Obvisiously, you have some kind of personal agenda going on. You’re critical of everybody. Your extreme state of denial in viewing evidence before you is trite and slim. Unlike you, I do not entertain the thought of playing with words in order to galvanize confusion. And lastly, quit putting words into my mouth….

#49 Comment By Westernman On January 7, 2008 @ 7:02 pm

Typo correction:

I mispelled a word in my sentences which should be spelled out “misunderstood” in the end of the first paragraph. And once again, if C-bow thinks “Bad Blood” was “proven wrong”,
Why don’t he tell that the to Intelligence reproter who wrote it…..

Westerman wrote: “And lastly, quit putting words into my mouth….”

Crossbow: I don’t have to. You prove my point with every paragraph you write.

Incidentally, I was right, wasn’t I?

I mean about your being too cowardly to write me.

#51 Comment By Westernman On January 9, 2008 @ 11:50 am

Crossbow: “you prove my point with every paragraph you write”

Glad you admit that you are wrong.

Crossbow again impedimentally spat out: “incidentally, I was right wasn’t I?
I mean about you(r) being to cowardly to write me.”

Yeah, sure buddy so you can uh….
get all violently ugly behing the scenes. Are you afraid to post your credits here???

Mr. Crossbow does not, however, possessed the rational understanding of how serious White Supremacists hategroups really are, here for those who have forgotten history:

COINTELPRO
Was a covert governmental program imbedded with FBI informats and undercover agents to infilitrate and usurp the ranks of Anti-Government & Hate groups such as KKK, American Nazi Party and the Weathermen et al etc. Their goal was to discredit, distort, dismantle and disperse the pliable and often times dysfunctional hategroups. Some of the head neo-nazis are FBI informats if not, outright FBI agents. This is evident by recent activities such as the Florida Klan rally which was runned by an FBI informer. The Bill White smear of Ron Paul, and of course Hal Turner who is the most obvious FBI agent provocatuer on the planet.
Hence their “dirty tricks” paid off.
Jewish infilitration into the White Supremacists groups are not uncommon.

BUT WHAT THE CROSSBOW DOESN’T KNOW!!!! Was that George W. Bush`s grandfather was a Nazi himself. Prescott Bush`s assets in the Banking Union were siezed in 1942 soley because of his finacial interests of claiming to have funded the Hitler`s Third Reich before the war was over.
[42]
And yet still to this day the system continues to erode, thanks to the right winged politicians who voted in favor of George W. Bush with the current war in Iraq/Afahnistan costing American tax payers a whopping $1 trillion and counting…..

You should see if you can hitch a ride on one of Calypso Louie’s space ships that he claims he uses to fly to the moon on many occassions.

I despise George Bush and the entire family, but you’re more of an idiot than they are.

Talk about hare-brained conspiracy theorists! Do you drool and slobber when you write, or just when you rave?

OMG! What a freakin` moron who watches loony tunes or nickelodeon kiddie shows all day. (Calpso Louie`s? Whatever the f*** that is.)
Howdy, do you have anything better to do like, fix one of them broken down cars in your front yard? Yet, your calling people idiots when you don’t have anything to say intelliegently yourself. And if you claimed that “Westernman`s” statements are wrong, lets see if you can prove him otherwise, or shut-up.

And speaking of your “drooling” remarks, I rather spit in the face of a Nazi. Just keep watching your Sylvester and Daffy Duck toons.

Westernman: “And if you claimed that “Westernman`s” statements are wrong, lets see if you can prove him otherwise, or shut-up.”

Anybody that reads the above in its entirety will know that you have been more than effectively responded to in advance. Nothing you write will change that. Any nonsense you add only lessens your credibility.

No more in depth comments here. It’s a waste of time. The intelligence factor is almost zero. But, more importantly, there’s almost zero traffic to this thread and the site in general doesn’t have but a handful of contributors.

You’ve served our purpose in helping us get our message out and revealing your true believer mindset, now you can rave on. We don’t mind at all.

OK, folks. This has run it’s predictable course. The conservatives (I’m one too) are squabbling among ourselves, ignoring the issue that brought us to this conversation and entertaining the liberals. Please refer to my post of January 7 and let’s get back to focusing on the fundamental issue: the systematically lopsided crime reporting and media coverage of hate crimes and groups. Perhaps we can draw out useful comments from people who are interested in problem solving, liberals and conservatives. We should stay on topic, keep it polite and ignore fringe issues. What do you think? Walt

#56 Comment By Beth On January 14, 2008 @ 1:10 am

Wow, there’s enough hate in this thread to warrant an additional award.

A couple things:

Claiming radical right wingers, skinheads and the like are anything but insignificant is plain out and out bias.

If they’re insignificant, please explain why Ron Paul is getting about 10% of the vote so far? (And don’t anyone blame it on mainstream Republicans or conservatives, or you’ll destroy your own argument.) Ever look at who’s supporting that guy? Now they get their own candidate!

Re: the lop-sided reportage here–I agree. I’m a mainstream conservative, but I keep my eye on the extremist right because I loathe sharing the words “right” or “conservative” with them. But it’s obvious to me that anyone right-of-center, even marginally so, is considered an extremist, a racist, or a bigot here. Wouldn’t it be more productive to welcome conservatives to the cause of anti-bigotry? I look at the blogroll and see nothing but bigotry, in the way said bloggers paint “all conservatives” with a broad brush, as though we’re all Pat Buchanan, Gary North, or David Duke. I am very dedicated to anti-racist causes, but even I have a hard time wading through the very left-wing, prejudiced (!) vibe toward people like me that exists here. I still do come here to read, but I have to turn a blind eye to more than I’d like and chalk it up to strong bias (one might call that “bias” prejudice, too).

I’m sure the extremists on the far right love seeing SPLC and some commenters (I’m lookin’ at you, Atheist, with your nonsensical comment) going after mainstream conservatives, because it can/does have the effect of discrediting SPLC with a large swath of potential supporters.

Not a very smart way of doing business, if you ask me. (And it’s not that the SPLC is the only one guilty of alienating potential allies–it seems to be the modus operandi among many on the Left, and then they think conservatives don’t care about racism?)

Funny, that.

#57 Comment By Dustin Jolley On February 20, 2008 @ 12:51 am

Stop attacking Bill O’Reilly and Lou Dobbs! They have the right to state their opinions, despite what a left-wing hate group like you guys would like everybody else to believe. It’s not racist to oppsose “illegal” immigration! How about looking up “illegal” in the dictionary some time?
