Neo-Nazi Threatmaker Accused of Working for FBI
New Jersey radio host Hal Turner is well known as one of the most vicious neo-Nazis in America, a man who routinely suggests killing his enemies.
Railing against President Bush, he told his audience last June that “a well-placed bullet can solve a lot of problems.” He has written that “we need to start SHOOTING AND KILLING Mexicans as they cross the border” and argued that killing certain federal judges “may be illegal, but it wouldn’t be wrong.” In 2006, after he published an attack on New Jersey Supreme Court justices that also included several of their home addresses, state police massively beefed up security for the members of the court, checking on one justice’s house more than 200 times.
Hal Turner is one serious extremist. He may also be on the FBI payroll.
On Jan. 1, unidentified hackers electronically confronted Turner in the forum of his website for “The Hal Turner Show.” After a heated exchange, they told Turner that they had successfully hacked into his E-mails and found correspondence with an FBI agent who is apparently Turner’s handler. Then they posted an alleged July 7 E-mail to the agent in which Turner hands over a message from someone who sent in a death threat against Sen. Russ Feingold (D-Wisc.). “Once again,” Turner writes to his handler, “my fierce rhetoric has served to flush out a possible crazy.” In what is allegedly a portion of another E-mail, Turner discusses the money he is paid.
On Thursday, as the E-mail exchange was heatedly discussed on a major neo-Nazi website, Turner suddenly announced he was quitting political work. “I hereby separate from the ‘pro-White’ movement,” he said, adding that he was ending his radio show immediately. “I will no longer involve myself in any aspect of it.”
The FBI declined comment. “Longstanding FBI policy prohibits disclosing who may or may not provide information,” Agent Richard Kolko of the agency’s press unit said. Reached in New Jersey, Turner also declined all comment.
The apparent revelation set off a torrent of criticism from experts in criminology and the use of informants. “This is clearly over the line,” said James Nolan, an associate sociology professor at West Virginia University who is an expert in police procedure and a former unit chief in the FBI’s Crime Analysis, Research and Development Unit. “Informants may be involved in drugs, and you overlook that because of the greater good. However, these are viable threats — they could be carried out — that the FBI clearly knows about. I want to see the FBI stop it.”
Informants, of course, are commonly used by law enforcement agencies that have no other way of proving suspected criminal activity. “These are frightening groups whose members deserve to be investigated and infiltrated,” said Jack Levin, a criminology professor and expert on the radical right at Northeastern University. “My concern is that Turner’s methods actually are more dangerous and destructive than the evil they are seeking to cure. His threatening messages may actually inspire neo-Nazis to up the ante, to engage in even more destructive behavior.”
Turner, 45, has developed a reputation as one of the hardest-line racists on the radical right since starting up his radio show seven years ago. He has routinely ranted about such things as a “Portable Nigger Lyncher” machine and slimed those he hates as “savage Negro beasts,” “bull-dyke lesbians,” “faggots” and worse.
But it is his threats that are legendary.
In 2006, Turner told his audience to “clean your guns, have plenty of ammunition … [and] then do what has to be done” to undocumented workers. Around the same time, he suggested that half the U.S. Congress “may have to be assassinated.” A year earlier, he suggested “drawing up lists of yeshivas,” or Jewish religious schools. He once started a website called www.killtheenemy.com for the purpose of posting photos and names of those who marched in favor of immigrant rights. Hearing that anti-racist activist Floyd Cochran was visiting Newark, N.J., last June, Turner said he had “arranged for a group of guys to physically intercept” Cochran and added that Cochran would likely “get such a beating that his next stop is going to be University Hospital.” In a July letter, Turner wrote to the Southern Poverty Law Center, which publishes the Intelligence Report: “If you do not change your stance soon, you will face a wrath of fury that you will never be able to defend yourself against. We have the ability to reach out and touch someone.”
Last July, Turner posted photographs of a pro-immigrant activist being taken away by an ambulance outside Turner’s North Bergen home. “Click the images below to see how I kicked the shit out of one such douchebag,” he wrote.
Reaction on the radical right to the apparent revelation was mixed, as activists tried to figure out if Turner really was an informant. But to many, there was little question it was Turner, based on the style of writing in the E-mails. “It does sound like Hal,” wrote “Varg” on the Vanguard News Network, a neo-Nazi website. “I agree,” responded “Yankee Jim.” “The Email definitely sounds like Hal.”
Turner’s alleged E-mail to his FBI handler is also addressed to a detective sergeant with the New Jersey State Police who trained with the FBI Police Executive Fellowship Program in 2004. Interestingly, as long ago as May 2006, Turner wrote of a visit paid to him by the two men, saying they had come to his house to warn him that “Washington has instructed us to close you down.” In that same posting on his website, Turner described himself as the type to inspire “a whole slew of potential Timothy McVeighs. I don’t make bombs,” he added, “I make bombers.”
“It’s become so routine,” Turner said of FBI visits in a 2005 interview with The (Hackensack, N.J.) Record, “they are like my private FBI agents.”

That sentiment has been mine all along. I’ve clicked on to his site several times after learning about him a couple of years ago, and I couldn’t believe what I was reading. He was actually worse than anybody I’ve ever run across on the internet, and I thought that surely he had to be a kind of agent provacateur of sorts. Anybody else would have been jailed. I was fascinated by his audacity and his unabashed reference to violence and murder, plus he advertised the addresses of Congressmen, I believe it was, at one point, and encouraged people to protest at their homes.
True, his rhetoric was never a direct call to action, at least from what I read, but I can’t see how anybody using just strong hints for anything illegal can do so without getting shut down SOMEHOW by the government. Especially a high profile figure with a radio station.
At one time I had doubts about what he was all about. I concluded that maybe he wasn’t a provacateur because he was doing a lot all by himself to further the cause of radicals in many ways, but mostly with his protest demonstrations at various locations around the country. Surely, I thought, the government wouldn’t be using someone who advances an extremist cause so effectively.
But my doubts were short-lived. Everything else about him just pointed to being a set up of one kind or another.
On CNN several people on the left have been interviewed regarding him, and I thought their tone was disingenuous as well. None of them raised the usual hue and cry they always direct at other lesser figures who are really just mainline orgs, and, instead, regarded Turner as being someone to watch, but there was no rabid animosity as is given to those who might be no more than little known right wing pundits, like the anti-illegal immigration groups.
In fact, Mark Potok on Cnn refrained from criticizing Turner at all, and instead said there’s not much that can be done about him, that it was best to let him maintain a high profile so he could be watched. Geraldo Rivera spoke very civilly to him when he was on his show, without challenging him much as he does others who are little known and have no influence, which I thought was really bizarre.
If the government is indeed behind this man, then the above professor in Virginia is correct. They’re creating a situation that wouldn’t exist to the extent it does on account of Turner, if they didn’t back him.
What good does it do to get a half-assed threat or two that doesn’t really mean anything by encouraging it, if the result is going to be the advancement of extremism? Wouldn’t it be better to put undercover people at work on situations where no encouragement for violence is necessary?
Unless I’m mistaken, we’ve still got some pretty serious jihadists running around the country and we have an Aztlan group out West that advocates securing the Southeast U.S. via “any means necessary.” And the Nation of Islam, especially the Khalid Muhammud (sp?)types, is even worse than Turner.
I think the attention given to far right extremists is far too great. There’s just not that many of them anymore, and they don’t really have much power.
Creating a Hal Turner just overemphsizes their importance, and diverts attention from groups that constitue a far greater threat to the peace and security of the country.

The truth is Weird Harold “Hal” Turner espoused two-seedline Christian Identity rhetoric on his Website and on his show. He probably did so at the direction of the FBI.
Hal’s biggest financial supporters are Christian Identity – including Jay Faber, Jim Wickstrom, Robinson Huber and “Yankee” Jim Leshkevich. Hal’s associates in Brazil are also big CI followers.
Hal was closer to the CI-based Posse, Klan and Aryan Nations people than anyone else. Most of his network programs were CI, except for goofy Paul Dibenedetto, AKA “Paul Gellar.” And that was just a vanity show. Gellar mostly talked about (and to) himself.
Only a small handful of the movement ever supported Hal Turner financially. He got under 100-150 individual donors in any given quarter. Around 120 people got scammed into paying Hal a year in advance for his new “premium content,” last month – which, of course, is no longer premium or content at all.
If Huber and the FBI did not pay his expenses, Hal would not have been able to travel around the country last summer. There is an interesting excerpt from another Turner/FBI email floating around where Hal complains the agent failed to give him pictures of racists the FBI was interested in Hal hooking up with while on the road. Hal whined “How am I supposed to earn,” when they won’t tell him who to spy on. How indeed. Hal claims in another email that Huber smuggles cigarettes to New York on the side. Way to snitch out your biggest sugar daddy, Harold.
The FBI was Hal Turner’s biggest “donor.” They also probably paved the way for Hal to get interviewed on Fox News, Dateline NBC and CNN. Hal was their high-profile rock star in the movement. His “fiery rhetoric” got lots of poor saps chiming in with their own threatening comments. The racists thought it was so edgy and revolutionary cool to threaten senators and judges. Cool, that is, until their doors got broken down by the feds, thanks to Hal Turner turning them and their IP addresses over to the FBI.
New Rule: Next time you intellectually challenged, socially inept and incompetent racists go looking for a great and fearless leader, see if you can at least manage to pay him more than he gets from the FBI.

Turner was a obnoxious jerk who liked being in the spotlight. To take a very serious issue like antiCaucasianism and belittle the legitimacy with his kind of bombast was terrible.
An FBI agent? Somehow I can’t quite subscribe to that one. Many of his detractors have openly admitted he had a keen awareness of the language needed to keep his rants from sending him to jail.
So were left with the word of “hackers”, ( i.e., federal criminals) who made no bones about doing and saying whatever they could to silence Turner.
Emails? What FBI/provocateur exchange would take place so blatantly over unsecured email via Turner’s site computer , which was located in a DATA CENTER — not even in his physical presence. The thought is laughable, to be honest.
Turner’s a jerk who now has no show. There were no such emails and life goes on. C’est la vie.

I could totally believe it. Bill White has got to be working for the feds as well. The guy makes all kinds of threats and every organization or group he touches crumbles within a few months. The thing is, what is the FBI going to say when some kook takes these guys seriously and kills someone without notifying anyone via e-mail first?
As to whether these people take their beliefs seriously- it is entirely possible that Hal Turner is “real” ideologically, but I believe that many of these people get hooked on some crime, and in order to work off the charge they elect to become informants.

I am ex-NSM (thank GOD!) and virtually everyone knew this already. I was a member for a few months and they got me during a serious depression.
One thing you need to know about the NSM is that they are atypical of skinheads and the neo-nazi movement. Most are not beer swilling trailer dwellers. Many of us are quite well educated and have real jobs. There are the slackers but they get weeded out. Most NSM don’t believe in White Supremacy — you need to understand that it is a political cult. Lots and lots of cultlike tactics are used on members. I can go into greater detail on how NSM is cult at a future time. NSM members give all their time and money to it so it doesn’t surprise me that Turner associated with them for so long. Turner I doubt is really a Fed. He’s just a sleeze.

I am ex-movement myself(NA), so I am familiar with the bizarre tactics of NSM. They were incredibly annoying on all the discussion forums, but I could clearly see the cult like tactics and the methods they use in order to hook people and keep them there. It doesn’t surprise me that they would have to get someone who is undergoing severe depression. Movement recruiters tend to play on one’s emotions until you forget what you previously believed and why.

I seen the emails and many others as they was posted in IRC. They did not come off his server, came from his ISP email as they hacked everything Turner owned.
I can confirm these emails are in fact legit. There are many more but the hacker group that took these did not even wanna release this one. Was leaked by someone in the chat. They was afraid they would get in trouble for outing an informant.
In many other emails he talks about staging rallies, having feds come to his rallies, money pickups, etc. I had contacted one of the guys who had the emails in the first place. Asked him if he would release the rest since its already became public, I didn’t get no answer so they are basically scared to release them. I wish they would though

Its funny that most of the people reading this article don’t realize that SPLC is tied to the FBI. They are two bugs in a rug! SPLC had a informant at elohim city (OKC Bombing) for the FBI.
SPLC calling Hal Turner and informant is damage control. Hal Turner is an FBI agent charged with disinformation and inciting violence. All to justify the HR1955 Violent Radicalization act and similar laws.

I hate Hal Turner. That being said, why is the SPLC labeling him as a neo-nazi? Does the SPLC wish us to believe that all racists are neo-nazis?
IMO the use of this scare tactic takes away from the credibility of the SPLC. Hal Turner is an evil racist, but he is no nazi, nor a neo-nazi.

The claims of me being and FBI Informant are false.
Only because the claim fits the agenda of the Southern Poverty Law Center did they do a story about the false claims.
Not a single person anywhere has ever said that I turned them in for a criminal act or testified against them in court.

The reason I never got arrested for anything I said was due to US Supreme Court case law which is discussed at length during the radio show above.

If any other talk show host, or anyone else in the alternative media for that matter, stood accused of being an FBI informant and the FBI was asked to comment, they would immediately state that the person is not and never was in their employ. Look it up. They do it all the time.

I had read that back in the 70′s or the early 80′s there was a law struck down here in the US that prevented “newscasts” or “entertainers” from speaking mistruths on the air, and I believe also hateful racist cant. Seems to me something a rabid white winger would like to see happen – I’m sure they backed it. Wouldn’t it be great, and at this point necessary, to reinstate that law again?
Any time you attempt to call them on this stuff the shows in question suddenly become “entertainment”, not to be taken seriously, don’t you know. But people listen to this stuff, people quote it and it justifies their narrow destructive and violent views. Please can we stop this from taking place now and reinstate this law!? The damage is so apparent.
How amusing Mr. Turner turned tail and ran; he knows the rabid element he cultivates would turn on him in a nano for turning tricks with the FBI. I would not be surprised if they have something on him – has anyone checked into Mr. Turner’s criminal history?

I’ve been having some fun with a lawyer here in the UK who suggested that Al Qaeda should assassinate Tony Blair. (And he’s no longer a British politician.) Of course, according to this lawyer Blair is responsible all on his ownsome for the deaths in Iraq, and has the blood of thousands all over both his hands! So AQ have “our” blessing to do away with him, after a bit of “suffering” of course. In fact, according to this barrister (same profession as Mr & Mrs Blair) we, the British people would re-assess our opinion of AQ if ONLY they could do us this one small favour.

Just use some common sense here,,, you do not have to be a rocket scientist to know that the internet is monitored by various national intelligence groups. all ip addresses can be traced and all e-mails are filtered & can be logged if they contain certain key phrases that pertain to harming government officials or acts of violence . It Makes sense that hal turner may have FBI connections hey the jerk publishes his home address on his website and basicaly dares people to come and get him if they have an issue with him! THIS MESSAGE IS FOR WESTERNMAN. When you are voicing your opinion, you really do not have to include people’s religion. I took offense to that. Like that ignorant man in that radio show, I do not call him murderous christian terrorist. Seriously, when we talk, we must acknowledge others’ feelings. I am a Muslim and terrorist is not in my dictionary. Islam is a peaceful religion but has extremists like Hal Turner, but, the difference is, when someone who is not Muslim does something evil, they do not say Christian terrorists, but when a Muslim does, he has to be called an Islamic terrorist. Let me give you an example:

SEE THAT, LIBERTARIAN used the terms radical and extremist so many times. If Hal Turner was Muslim, some people would have written: Islamic radicals and Islamic extremist. Do you still see my point? Isn’t that unfair. Let me clear up a last thing. What is the meaning of Jihad. Jihad means “struggle”. Our Prophet said that the greatest Jihad is Jihad with our own self. Let me give you an example. You walk in a store, you see something you like, you want to steal it. You must do Jihad with yourself, meaning struggle with yourself by not stealing it cause God is always watching. Or, a married woman makes advances to you. You have to do Jihad with yourself by not touching her cause she is not your wife. The only Jihad you can do fighting others is for example, someone walks up to you, oppress you and your family and abuse you cause you are Muslim, then it’s allowed to fight them back. Only extremists fight innocent people and always want to fight and define it as Islamic Jihadist. So please let us educate ourselves and not be amongst the ignorants.
