Alleging that Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s recent sweeps in Hispanic neighborhoods were tantamount to racial profiling, Latino state lawmakers joined Phoenix mayor Phil Gordon in calling for a federal civil rights investigation of Arpaio’s tactics.
