Cars Parked in Lindenhurst Defaced With Swastikas

Connie Gralto was sitting outside her Lindenhurst home yesterday morning when a police officer stopped in front of her house, staring at her 2006 Saturn Vue parked on Farmers Avenue. Gralto, 53, approached the police officer and asked what the problem was. Then she saw the swastika and the words “dead babies” written on the hood of her SUV, leaving her shaken and confused. “I have a 1-year-old granddaughter that lives with me,” said Gralto, who said she has lived in the neighborhood for 30 years. “I just don’t understand ‘dead babies.’ To me, that’s just outright cruel.” Gralto’s vehicle was one of the eight parked along Farmers Avenue and Heathcote Road that were defaced with swastikas, crude pictures and offensive phrases early yesterday morning.
