This guy is a nut job and a poster child for “just say no”, as his Maui Wowie church illustrates, but the idea subtly inferred in this article that trade in silver and gold is somehow illegal is totally false and misleading. It is illegal to privately make currency/coins and call them lawful US currency but there is nothing, NOTHING illegal about using precious metals as barter or trade items, nor is there anything illegal about trading a certificate for said metals as a barter instrument, which was proven by von Nothaus’ acquittal.

Maybe it’s a “news of the weird” moment for you. But please balance your coverage when speaking generally about alternative currencies. Some have been around for decades in the US and longer elsewhere.

Hi there. I came across your site while googling Ron Paul and the Liberty Dollar etc. Can’t understand why you have run this piece since your other articles seem to be against ‘hate mongers’? What is so wrong (as apart from disapproving or being ‘kooky’) about his actions that he is put alongside your primary targets?

You would be angry, too, if some of the silver was yours.

It is quite common for companies like Kitco and A-mark to store gold and silver that belongs to their customers.

Last time I checked it wasn’t against the law to own gold and silver.

That precious metal did not belong to Liberty Dollar but was being stored for its rightful owners who are sueing to get their property back.
