Michael J. Verhaagh, 33, was sentenced to one month in jail for sucker-punching a black man after displaying tattoos of Adolph Hitler and telling other customers in a bar that he did not like people of color.

One year in prison should help train him better. It would have been far, far better to order the scumbag to commit community service.

1 year may not seem much, but once you are locked up, according to some, it feels like eternity. Ironically, this turd reicher’s gonna being surrounded by a lot of “people of color” especially Blacks. And that’s gonna be very unfortunate for him. I hope this jail experience will teach him about respect and bounderies.

One of the things many people forget is that the white majority that is on the streets become the minority on the inside. Don’t ever be anyone who is convicted of a hate crime and expect not to be on someone’s hit list when that white majority individual goes behind bars.

I am carrisima gingrich. You are quite presumptuous calling me a racist. One of my daughters is in the Army now stationed in Afghanistan with her new husband. My child had threatened to burn down her boarding school among other things. Troublemakers (regardless of race) need to be in a place where they can get a REALITY CHECK — the negative behavior squelched. Thus, these racist troublemakers referred to in this forum need to experience the same while serving their country in a positive way. Unfortunately, most of these wayward racist pwoplw probably would not qualify for military service by their evil deeds. I hope this clears this up for you though I really owed you no explanation.

I hate to laugh at 1 month being a joke, but he has served way more time than that. I also hate to point out that once he gets on the “inside” it will only server to reignite and reaffirm his already racist beliefs. He is in Brown county the Census reports Brown county with a 1.7% African American population in 2007. Go look through is past on the Circuit Court Access, where do you think that homegrown hatred came from? That is not from his family or friends. Wisconsin is a hot bed for these White Supremacist groups, the Aryan Nation, the KKK, the supremacist, Outlaw Hammerskins,and the Posse Comitatus just to name a few. I do not support these groups or vicious act such as this, but maybe people need to take a look from the inside out to see why some of these people are the way they are.
