Vandals burned neo-Nazi symbols into the front lawn of a 69-year-old black woman who moved into a new area to care for her granddaughter, whose mother has been deployed to Iraq.

What the heck is up with this? The older woman is caring for her grand kid so her daughter can be shipped out to the middle east. Don’t racists even respect our military? I find it interesting the kids who did a similar act in that town stated they were drinking and meant no harm. But as we have seen in our sleepy, little town in Vermont, a “harmless prank” can create a huge amount of fear for all people of color, or sexual orientation, or age, etc. We white folks were really hurt and then angered at the hate crime perpetrated by our white youth last year. We rallied and showed our solidarity with the victims, and instituted diversity celebrations, invited in the Civil Rights Commission and aired feelings through numerous community forums. Racial intolerance and hatred will not stand in our town.

Thank God for the State of Vermont and their active communities to root out this evil against Humanity.
Modesto seems to have racists infiltrating not just their communities, but their work places too, esp in corporations where racial profiling is rampant and very discriminatory. I hope they catch the cowards who did this to this woman and her grandchild. No one should live in fear! God save our Planet from such evil!

It’s ashame we still have individuals practicing hatred in the United States. This country has come to far from the once prevalent racist society. What’s more disgusting is that America still has ignorant parents teaching their children hatred. Come on America! Let’s move forward for peace and equality. No race is superior than the other!

Yet another way to cause fear. I think if someone really talked to the African American community they would find that hate crimes happened a lot more than what is being reported.Just because it is California does not mean hate crimes dont occur. Bakersfield,Modesto,Fresno areas have a healthy racist community just look at the hate map.These groups thrive on any negative attention I feel bad for the grandma she has already dealt with racism that for so long was ignored. I hope she can take care of her grandchild without further incident and that she sees this shamefull act for what it is.
