St. Louis' local free weekly has previously covered this story, including an extended interview with then-mayor Jeffrey Whitteaker that illustrated his profound racist and anti-Hispanic biases. Thankfully, Whitteaker (who--no joke!--said he didn't want "Cousin Puerto Rico and Taco Whoever moving in") was defeated in his re-election bid, in large part due to negative reaction to this story.
