    That’s just great!

This is just what the racist cronies need.

A racist professor, they can start quoting as if that somehow would give credibility to their hatred.

Too bad, the blind is leading the blind.

Gee. I hadn’t realized that very many of the “white supremacist” idiots had enough education to read ANYTHING except their own rants and raves, let alone rants and raves by a professor.

That’s is nothing new. I’ve worked with many so called “professional” and you would think they would be the most racional people in the world. But, actually is the oppositve they acquired an aura of I know it all, poor things. And some of these people are just plain “moron” and lack kindness or even compassion. Of course, that only comes from GOD, good things only come from him. the hate, divisions, violences only comes from the EVIL one. He promotes and keep feeding his people into doing all of these things. So, we as people of GOD must be viligant and pray that they will never win.

It’s a shame we all can’t appreciate the different cultures and races without the hatred.

While I do not quite see the “god/evil” point as developed in the comment above, I must say I am not surprised that people with supremacist, anti-semitic or neo-fascist views should also work in such a supposedly protected, if not ultra-rational universe as education. A ( retired) (PHd) professor myself, I have more than once been a witness to the implicit or explicit expression of not only irrational but infamous (though forbidden in this country – France) discourse.
Still, this is rather exceptional, and should not be generalised. Our centralised school system may prove to be a strong deterrent; plus, one must not overlook or underestimate the influence of the (relative) unity that characterises the overall organisation and functioning of the system as such.

It’s a shame that there is so much negative emotions directed towards someone simply because they have different beliefs than you. How fun it must be to call people ignorant, morons, and idiots just because you disagree with them! Bravo, hypocrites, bravo.

Jean, as Michael Shermer (author of “Why People Believe Wierd Things”) has written, even smart people can believe wierd things.

So, Awesome man, you are defending those with racist views?

Freedom of speech is vital. People must be free to express their views–especially if we find them offensive. Are people to be free to say only what we agree with?

Freedoms can never be absolute, making them so would be a total abandonment of all responsibility. Freedom that you speak of would mean that no one ever faces the consequences of their actions.

Does freedom of speech mean that you can yell “FIRE!” in a crowded movie house and never deal with the consequences of your actions?

NO! If you want to go around saying whatever you want in a web site and stir up hatred and egg people on to murder, being a danger to the public, then I am not behind you on that kind of freedom, citizen.

The truth will eventually win out, but look how far Hitler got. We should all be vigilant to call this out and “Nip it! nip it in the bud!”

I was quoting a well known American television show ‘s overzealous Deputy Fife. I’m thinking the show has run on most of the world’s networks within recent memory. A sense of humor doesn’t preclude taking these threats seriously.

The power of words to lead to murder is evident in our own recent and past history in America, and every racist knows that particular fact. Why do you think our past administration used the word terrorism in practically every sentence? Why all the references to Muslims, as though being of a different religion is enough to be labelled subversive?

It is very clear that this sort of bullying is strong even in elementary schools where kids call each other by every mean name we’ve ever heard.

I didn’t bellieve this was happening either, until I heard a 5yr-old-boy call my 3-yr-old daughter by the “F” word right in front of me.

In a competitive society like ours, everyone is a target to be put down, not because we are dangerous, but because it is the national “game.”

  14. Allen said,

    on July 9th, 2009 at 1:02 pm

True is that, Kate. BTW – the name of that national game is called Social Darwinism; the object is “I’m gonna get mine, let everybody else die.” When I was young I was taught how to share and not to be selfish, but I guess we don’t teach that to our children any more. It’s too close to “socialism.”

The more wisdom we aquire in life, the more we tend to see that we are all in this together and that we are stronger together as a human species than we are when we are at odds.

Out of curiosity, what “F” word would that be? There are a lot of them.
