Wow, 25 years ago. I remember watching this on the local TV news when it happened.

Alan Berg was gunned down in his driveway. I remember seeing the news photos of his white chalk outline in the driveway, next to his VW Bug.

Berg was a combative talk show host who engaged in name-calling and other abuse. I remember his show.

But that is no excuse to murder him or anyone.

One of Alan Bergs’ best friends in the talk radio business was Peter Boyles.

Ironically, Boyles is now notorious for anti-immigrant topics on his talk show in Denver.

Looks like Boyles didn’t learn anything from his friend.

This type of ‘entertaining speech’ is obviously problematic.

To engage in cutting edge speech in advance of the diffusion of coping skills by the rest of us is to invite disaster.
It is sophmoric to exclaim that the reaction of those offended to their core by such speech is not a reason to lash out in violence is naive.
All people are not created =. Some lag behind, and they are primal in thier reaction to somethings. To forget that fact is to invite a ‘primal type’ to clean your clock if you so abuse their sensitivites.

Speak softly and avoid the big stick.

Sometimes stupid folks act bigger than their britches. These titanic bigots made a mistake smacking into that berg. We all know the end to that unfortunate situation by now. Hmmmmmm…what about the Hinden…um…berg?
