The very same thing happen to me last year by a drunken chef I work for and he got the same basic slap on the wrist with even more evidence against him. Bail for some one who threatens the President?! REALLY?! Threats and action by racist will not stop until just as many white people are outraged as the victims! Threatening to kill someone should not be protected speech because many of these people turn their threats into action!

This is only the first step in solving our social problem regarding racist. What MUST be done and done now is to stop the Glenn Beck’s and Rush Limbaugh’s in this country. This can only be accomplished by surgically removing their tongues & posting the event on the internet.

For over 50 years I have been attempting to use reason and logic to convince our sociaty of the foolish absurdities connected to and with racist acts & thoughts. Now in my “twilight-years”, it would seem that the only positive responce is to remove the ability of those that expound racist lies. Remove the tongues of those that spread lies, and remove the fingers of those that write falsehoods….Those that continue to profess these falsehoods are attenpting to foster anarchy.

Splc’s summery makes it seem like he was convicted for expressing hateful feelings, but the full article makes clear that he was convicted on evidence of plotting to actually murder Obama.
Mr. Myers: while your method for silencing the provocative hate rhetoric of Beck & Limbaugh would probably work, I think a preferred method would be to bring back the Fairness Doctrine. That’s all that would be needed in Limbaugh’s case, because he’s on the public airwaves. In Beck’s case, he is on cable TV, so we would need a new version of the Fairness Doctrine, which, perhaps, could be achieved through a class action law suit, on behave of the groups attacked by Beck & his ilk.

I’m just wondering if spaying and/or neutering is covered by their health care plan? Or if, in the case of right-wing radio celebs, either one would be applicable??!!
Just wondering…

Glenn Beck, Lou Dobbs and Rush Limbaugh are preaching hate and fomenting racism. If that’s not enough to file suit or pass the Fairness Doctrine, I guess we really have lost our country. We need collective action to put these people out of business. Let’s Do It!!

Could be an explanation for all of this nonsense. Perhaps some genius recorded Confederate personalities with a telegraph wire and some contempo cloak and dagger person is using those recordings to influence modern thinking. I understand that ancient Egytian rulers had their brains preserved in little jars…time machine? What about the Nazis?

Well, I apologize. You probably didn’t get to see it, but my morbid sense of humor finally got one of my comments removed from the site.
FYI – It was a comment against Beck, Limbaugh and their ilk.
I don’t blame SPLC for removing the tongue-in-cheek comment, and, again, for those that saw it, it was just a joke and I apologize with all my heart.
( I have to admit, though, it was funny.)

Fredric F. Myers:
if libs like you had full power as dictator, no doubt it would be a total nazi-like regime as far as prison and death penalty for any you disagree with. luckily we have the first and second amendments which prevent your emotion-driven, illogical, irrational, liberal mental disorder from ever achieving such tyrannical ends.

AFTER CONVICTION — BAIL???
I’ve never heard of such an outlandish thing.

Racism is such a poison like the frecking cold or flu. It just won’t go away and many won’t take a vaccine. I don’t think he was that drunk. He knew what he was saying and I think he meant it. He proably belongs to a hate group that thinks he comments/intentions were wonderful. I hope he gets the fullest extent of the law

Truth Monger, it is disheartening to hear that some people hate our Founders and their liberal ideals so much as to call them mentally disordered. Case in point;
http://www.liepie.com/grannys-.....ral-menace
From George Washington, our first liberal President;
“As Mankind becomes more liberal, they will be more apt to allow that all those who conduct themselves as worthy members of the community are equally entitled to the protections of civil government. I hope ever to see America among the foremost nations of justice and liberality.”
Of course, you will probably say that it is different, that they were old liberals and you are talking about new liberals. Others have told me this, but I have challenged them to prove to me that there is any difference. So far, they have never been able to come up with the proof.
Your hate spewing against liberals fans the flames for people like gunman Jim David Adkisson who went hunting for liberals. This kind of hate-speech is anti-American, IMHO.

Dear Carrisima,
I have no doubt that the Secret Service has him under close, close surveillance. Like, microscopic surveillance, I hope.

It’s funny how the liberals call themselves the party of tolerence, except when it comes to tolerating a different point of view in their twisted mind set.
on August 14th, 2009 at 3:04 pm
So, Frome, I expect you think that if we are tolerant of someone who, for rhetorics sake, believes that God resides inside a head of lettuce (a harmless belief), then we should also be tolerant of someone who believes it is OK to f**k little 8yo boys?
No, liberals are not tolerant of anything that does harm to others. Rational thinking (what liberalism is based on) trumps tolerance every time. Get your facts straight.
Also, liberal is not a “party”, it is a philosophy that espouses the ideals of (for one) Thomas Jefferson, arguably the first American liberal, and of George Washington, the first liberal President. Both they and most of the other founding fathers were influenced by the writings of Thomas Paine, a British liberal philosopher who was the first to use the term “United States of America” and to suggest a social security system, whom without there would not have been an American Revolution.
“As Mankind becomes more liberal, they will be more apt to allow that all those who conduct themselves as worthy members of the community are equally entitled to the protections of civil government. I hope ever to see America among the foremost nations of justice and liberality.”
~ George Washington

Allen:
That sure is the same, single George Washington quote you posted last time. You’d think someone like you would have a whole wealth of quotes to back up your statement… were it true of course. However the quote is taken from a context that does not even begin to approximate that of today’s world. In the 18th century, the belief that nobles and the common man were of the same level was considered a radical and provocative idea. That you can even attempt to make such ridiculous claims speaks volumes about your capacity for wishful thinking and life in a deluded fantasy world.
on August 17th, 2009 at 2:54 pm
FreeTibet, that’s the same as saying, “That’s the old liberalism, which is different from the new liberalism.” Until anyone can give me any solid proof, they remain the same liberalsim.
Conservatism has always had the same foundational philosophy – that man is naturally evil so he needs an iron fist to restrain him, and that iron fist is government.
Conversly, liberalism’s foundational philosophy is that man is naturally good, therefore with an education and collective safety net, then the people have the right and responsibility to participate in their own governance.
Ya’ want more quotes? Here we go;
“I hope that we shall crush in its birth the aristocracy of our monied corporations which dare already to challenge our government to a trial of strength, and bid defiance to the laws of our country.”
— Thomas Jefferson
“The care of human life and happiness, and not their destruction, is the first and only object of good government.”
— Thomas Jefferson
“To argue with a person who has renounced the use of reason is like administering medicine to the dead.”
— Thomas Paine
“He that would make his own liberty secure must guard even his enemy from oppression; for if he violates this duty he establishes a precedent that will reach to himself.”
— Thomas Paine
“It is error only, and not truth, that shrinks from inquiry. ”
— Thomas Paine
“Reason obeys itself; and ignorance submits to whatever is dictated to it. ”
— Thomas Paine
“One good schoolmaster is of more use than a hundred priests.”
— Thomas Paine (The Age of Reason)
“The Mind Once Enlightened Cannot Again Become Dark.”
— Thomas Paine
Sounds pretty damned liberal to me!

Now, now, my little ones. Peace.
I was glad to hear passionate outrage against self-proclaimed leaders like Limbaugh who would put forth hatred and limited views of reality as fact, inciting injustice and irrational thinking, and polarizing my country.
However, I assumed that some of the comments were made in jest, such as the removal of tongues. But it soon became evident that they were in earnest. As was the response of the conservative as both slung mud.
Let me remind you that nothing is effective that polarizes society by naming sides and drawing a line. That is a game little boys play because they want to play at war. But at the end of the day, it is only a game, and they go home to their beds, knowing that it is not real.
But we are in the real world. So let us go to the next level – the one which moved the world towards social change – put forth by Gandhi and King – the level of Nonviolence. This is the only method for real, workable change. And in order to work, it must be pervasive in the individual. Nonviolence cannot work on the surface alone; but it must pervade the mind and heart.
When the marchers were trained, they were trained not only to stay physically passive, but also emotionally passive in love and with a peaceful heart. Hatred in a person’s eyes or speech can be as inciting to violence as any blow, and it will be responded to. However, it is very difficult and unproductive to strike or hurt someone whose being is absent from hateful rhetoric, and whose eyes shine forth love, peace, and faith in us all.
Fear is our enemy, not other people – because it is fear that propels us to do things we would rationally never do. So let us not fight each other, but let us fight fear. After that, we will make better decisions. (Such as being more civil and understanding towards each other.)
