Make no mistake about it – stupid Texans (and MANY Abilene residents fit that description, which is probably why the leaflets were distributed there in the first place) will fall for this crap. The only times Texas treated its minority groups (chiefly latinos) with any respect were when LBJ was President of the United States and during the gubernatorial term of Ann Richards.

If the KKK is such a christian group, Then why are they only promoting whites to join their organization? And why can’t blacks and hispanics join the team? Whites have more rights than any other race in this country what more do they want? In fact, they are the ones that are blocking the rights of other races.

Mannie:
whites do not have ‘more rights,’ in fact, thanks to affirmative action type quota systems, people of european descent have the LEAST rights. also, dont forget the so-called ‘hate’ laws that specifically punish whites with harsher sentences than minorities would get for committing the same crime.

I had a basic introduction to the KKK when my family moved to Georgia in 1962. Even at that young age combined with a strong desire to fit in and be accepted by a group of people, it only took my attending one Klan rally to realize that there was no intelligent life around me. Christianity had nothing to do with their motivations, and that day I learned that the forces driving their actions was actually the fear of losing control of their environment. Don’t misunderstand me, I do not condone their actions or methodology, but I do understand that people are the most dangerous when they feel a direct or implied danger; and these people feel cornered making them as dangerous as any wild animal cornered by a predator.

Marisa, please don’t throw all of us Texans in one basket. I’m a Texan myself and in a happy bi-racial marriage. I realize my home state has gotten some really bad press as of late, especially during the Bush years, but there are some good and bad things about every state. I have to admit, Texas is one of the racist states, but I’m not throwing the baby out with the bath water. There are plenty of good people there, too.
And… the latest survey data indicates that Texas may be turning blue!

R.J. Hoover is absolutely correct. The Youtube video attached to my name here shows what just a few youth can do when “inspired” by their elders who spouted KKK type opinions and “morals”. (Yes I do mean morals, because that is exactly as they are presented in churches and homes.)
I do hope that we are seeing the last “Hurrah” of these groups/individuals. I must admit though that I am becoming fearful of their fear and the actions that they may take because of that fear.

The KKK IS NOT a Christian group! To be Christian, they would have to worship Jesus, who was Jewish! To try to come off as Christians spreading the word for their race is pathetic and twisted!

The distribution of racist leaflets by white supremacists is getting really old. Its just a classic ploy at attempts to garner some support or at least some unwanted attention. These vintaged method is quite weak that it doesn’t really do much in favor of these lesser hate groups. Many times there’s no contact info on these fliers except for links to their websites which makes it difficult for future wannabes to join. In most cases today these KKKlowns have no more than 10 loyal members, as the rest are FBI, ATF agents and paid informats etc. Which is why they are not as popular as they were nearly 100 years ago.

Peter North-Michael Steele-Clarence Thomas: same kind of person. One who forgets that many people of all races, including minorities, work very hard to get where they are and still face racism and discrimination everyday. I have worked since I was 16 and managed to get an advanced degree on my on, but that doesn’t mean I don’t see racism and evil when it’s there.
People try to tell me “You’re not like others of your race…you’re accomplished, well spoken, doing well..blah blah. But, yes I am like others, I was just blessed with opportunities many didn’t get. By the way talk about lazy people Europeans and others went all the way to Africa to get people to work for them (called slaves), many old money families still have wealth built from that, so I don’t wish for the old America and I’m just as American as any.

Until everyone, no matter of gender or race treats each other as equals there will always be prejudism. Unfortunately prejudism will always exist in every part of the world, it’s a human element based off our environment or experiences. The fact that our current president is interracial, proves that there is no longer a need for affirmative action. Prejudism will also continue to flourish as long as people find a way to blame others for their misfortunes, which all races have managed to do. You, the individual are giving that person or group too much credit and are allowing them to drag you down. Your strength is what allows you, the individual, to succeed in life despite many odds. No born American citizen alive today has ever faced systematic slavery, but other countries still have those issues. The KKK is a hategroup, pure and simple. They are not an example of any race, they are a cult. It would be like saying that the criminal Chinese Triads are an example of all Chinese, all latinos are illegal immigrants from Mexico. Stereotyping a race, gender or culture because of any one group makes you just as prejudiced as those who hold prejudices based on race, gender, or culture. Until you understand all of this, some of you will be just as hateful as the hate groups, allowing yourself to sink to their level and develop your own private hategroup within your heart, family or circle of friends. Remember, your attitudes about others are often coveted by your children, making mini-me’s of you and never positively changing society.

Its inane to bring up the subject of religion regarding the KKKluxers. No rational American will view the KKKluxers as relgious by virtue. That would be hypocrisy to do so. Moreover, hatred is the nexus of their foundation, and there’s no connotation in true Christianity and the KKK. As some other poster mentioned, they are more of a cult-like phenonemon. Heretofore, when you confront hatemongers like the KKK, normally its not entirely imperative to use faith to justify their wrongs. You must confront hate with vigilance and resistance rather than play the notion of: “I will pray for you.”
Although, some will disagree with my perception, but sorry, I don’t see how being relgious on these vermints is exigent. Just my opinion.

Just watched the NatGeo special on the klan. Found it quite interesting that the “Leaders” of these various klan groups kept referring to their “Christian” values. principles etc. also interesting was the one reference to the Messiah I heard used during one of the “ceremonies” they referred to him as “Christ” only. The Jewish Messiah Yeshua or Jesus, the founder of these supposed “Christian” values they purport to follow, was born a Jew, died a Jew, rose from the dead a Jew, and will return a Jew. How does that fit in with their philosophy of hating Jews? I am a Messianic Jew and have never found anything spoken by the Messiah to back up this racial hatred. The ironic statements and flat out ignorance of these groups astounds me, its time for all good people to stand in the face of such ignorant hate mongering, hiding behind the facade of free speech and use
our God given right of free speech to oppose and counteract this ignorance where and when found.
