Dobbs a Headliner at Hate Group’s D.C. Gathering Next Week
For those two or three people remaining in America who are still uncertain if Lou Dobbs is an immigration extremist, the CNN and radio show host has removed any doubts: He is. Dobbs is a headliner next week when the Federation for American Immigration Reform — FAIR — takes its annual “Hold Their Feet to the Fire” show to Washington, D.C.
Some 47 radio station talk show blabbers are scheduled to broadcast Sept. 15-16 from Capitol Hill. They will interview members of Congress, immigration reform proponents and — best of all — “high profile media personalities and activists,” according to FAIR. FAIR members also will try to buttonhole elected representatives for a chat about immigration issues, and there will be a reception to recognize those who have made “significant contributions towards true immigration reform.”
Dobbs’ scheduled broadcast at the event prompted Media Matters for America President Eric Burns to write an open letter to CNN President Jonathan Klein on Aug. 28. Burns noted that the Southern Poverty Law Center has designated FAIR a hate group.
Among other things, FAIR has employed officials in key positions who are also members of white supremacist groups, and promoted racist conspiracy theories about Mexico’s secretly coveting the American Southwest, and another theory claiming secret plans to merge the United States, Mexico and Canada. FAIR was founded in 1979 by John Tanton, whose long history of bigotry toward Latinos and Catholics has been well documented by the SPLC.
Dobbs already has damaged CNN’s credibility by the “attention and legitimacy he gave to the ‘birther’ movement” recently, Burns wrote. [SPLC President Richard Cohen wrote to Klein in July calling on him to remove Dobbs from the air because of his lending credence to birthers’ unsubstantiated claims that President Obama wasn’t born in the United States and therefore can’t legally be president]. “CNN’s association with FAIR through Mr. Dobbs is nothing less than a stain on an organization that calls itself ‘The Most Trusted Name in News,’” Burns wrote.
As of Tuesday afternoon, Burns and Media Matters hadn’t received a response from Klein. It seems unlikely the CNN honcho will prohibit Dobbs’ participation in the FAIR event. One need only look at the name of last year’s headliner to see why: Lou Dobbs.

I would expect this kind of garbage from FOX News, but not CNN.
Ted Turner should have never sold CNN. Obviously, a bunch of Reich Wingnuts now run CNN and they are turning it into a FOX News clone.
Lou Dobbs would have been FIRED back in the old days when we still had broadcast ethics.

Looks like you’re the one making a fact-free, evidence-free statement here. Follow the links in the item to find out the many reasons SPLC has identified FAIR as a hate group. I’m not affiliated in any way with the SPLC and can’t speak for them, but I presume what they’re “hoping” is that people will be able to read and understand facts and draw reasonable conclusions.

Population estimates have been predicting the rise of Latino populations for the last 20 years. Obviously, the rich white minority is now in a panic as these projectons have come true. The have only two directions to take: they can take the fact of Latino majority and live with it and cater to their needs, or they can become nazi-like deniers of fact and become haters and killers. The latter option is being taken by the people who have the most fear of loss of status, and is also fraught with the danger of prosecution for hate crimes.
The Mexican state sponsored oligarchy has kept these people poor and without hope thanks to the PRI for decades. The United States has aways been a beacon of hope for hard-working immigrants, but now the backlash has begun. It’s not about the economy, it’s not about the so-called “strain” on American social or medical services which are always thrown up as a barrier to Latino residence here. It’s always been, and will continue to be about SKIN COLOR. It’s so basic and ugly that no one in the anti-immgrant movement will ever admit to it. Brown skin is anethma to the rich whites.
It’s what all the skinhead, nazi, and white power organizations are petrified with fear of: that our Earth will become a blend with all other races, making their idea of supremacy a lie.
These “minutemen” and “militias” are fighting a losing battle. The blending of races and cultures is happening and there is nothing they can do about it. They know that, and that’s what makes them dangerous is the short run.
The United States STOLE the whole southwest from Mexico by force of arms. The government of the United States STOLE the lands given in treaty to Native
Americans. The idea of “manifest destiny” is one of the biggest lies our government ever told.
The hatred and fear of ignorant whites and their rich, white sponsors is what fuels this war, but the obvious outcome is one of failure for them. No amount of guns on hips or illegal campaign donations to people like Joe Arpaio will stop the inevitable outcome.
People can live with hating every day,(really bad for your physical and spritual life) or they can go deep into their souls and examine their life and motivations and find the truth. It can be very difficult to get to that place where one “surrenders” to God and Truth, but I still have hope for everyone.

People here are saying FAIR is a hate group because it is, you need only glance at the organizations that support FAIR and the people they align themselves with.
Respectfully FAIR received more than $ 1 million in funding from the Pioneer Fund between 1982-1994. According to the New York Times the Pioneer Fund supported research by 20 scientists who spent more than 2 decades trying to find scientific proof that people of African descent are genetically inferior despite the fact that man’s origins began on the African continet.
Numerous newspapers including the NY Times and the Sunday Telegraph have labeled the Pioneer Fund as a neo-Nazi organization dedicated to eugenics and white supremacist beliefs among other things.
FAIR has also been linked with numerous white nationalist groups, so I’m not sure what you’re talking about.
Are YOU hoping that if you verbally attack people who tell the truth about this organization built on the hatred of non-white people that people will forget that it’s a front for neo-Nazis and white supremacists?
Honestly you’re not really fooling anyone, but by all means you keep up your support for this demented crusade against immigrant peoples – if scapegoating innocent non-white’s for the nation’s problems and your own fears and insecurities works for you then just keep on goose-stepping and trying to conceal the truth.

CNN needs to get rid of Dobbs, and FOX News needs to get rid of Glenn Beck – Lou Dobbs has lost his credibility, and Glenn Beck never had any credibility (he is the most obnoxious, lying excuse for a human being imaginable – and, since he’s a convert to my church, an embarrassment to my church). These news channels should dump both of them and as soon as possible, and their radio shows should be canceled as well (Rush Limbaugh’s radio show should be canceled as well). We need responsible, intelligent newscasters and commentators. I have no problem with people who disagree with me stating their opinions, but I do have a problem with plain old blatant LIARS and hate-mongers.

Those issues that come down to “skin color” can be reduced even further – money. Those who are making all the noise are not the ones pulling the strings or making the money. They are pawns in a very nasty game just as much as Mexicans are and their ranks are being used to fill the prisons these fat cats are making money off of just as much as the Mexican’s are. FAIR is just an organization of expendable dupes who are being used to make other people money. Unfortunately they are causing a lot of pain to innocent people in the process.
I am the only white person in my family and I’ve found that there’s good reason why the powers-that-be don’t want whites mixing intimately with others. When the double standards are explained away with lies like, “Oh, white folks have to deal with that too – it’s not just you being discriminated against because of your skin color,” any whites that are connected can prove that that is in fact a lie.
When my husband, one of the few darker skinned men in our area, borrows my car for a week and is stopped by the police three times in three separate towns for having tinted windows and people try to tell us it’s not because of his skin color (he’s a public official and very conservative in his manner and appearance) I can prove they are lying. I am white, not at all conservative in my manner or appearance and I have not been stopped once for those same tinted windows in over a year while driving that same car in those same towns. In fact, I was stopped once for not having put my registration stickers on my car yet and the cop who later stopped my husband did not say a word about my tinted windows, so so much for their claims that it’s not about skin color.

Lou Dobbs, Glen Beck, Rush Limbaugh you name it, are all nuts. If I were running CNN I would have fired Dobbs months ago. They lose all credibility when they have any extreme person on their air as an anchor. Dobbs belongs over at Fox News with Beck.

Even though some of your history may be correct, I also notice some hatred in your speech. We did horrible things to Native Americans. We also happend to settle the country. It is what it is. The nation needs to learn to live in a pluralistic society. We need to recognize our history, the good and bad and move on. We need to make sure that everyone gets a fair shot. We also need to make sure that we attempt to make sure that everyone who lives here belongs here. No walls on the border. We do need to make sure that the people who are here belong here legally. Is it impossible to get all illegal ailens out, yes. Is it worth attempting to enforce laws stringently but fairly, yes.
As a white male and Obama supporter I want to work with the nation as a united front. I’m not sure that you or Lou Dobbs are in favor of that.

I think that Lou Dobbs has every right to do whatever he wants, CNN can’t tell him what to do in his off time. FAIR is not a racist group of people. LATINOS are NOT the only group of people illegally present here in the U.S. There are others that should be removed as well. We need a watchdog group like FAIR to monitor our poorly ran government that truly needs to enforce its current immigration laws that have already been on the books for years. We dont need no stupid reform. We dont owe the Mexicans or anyone else anything, work for your right to be here, get in line and wait behind every other “LAW ABIDING” person.

These nativists are nothing new.
Back in 1942, they conned FDR into signing the order that allowed the Army to detain and deport 100,000 US Citizens of Japanese ancestry and put them into camps in the desert.
Their only crime was the color of their skin and the slant of their eyes. Eventually they were released because the US Supreme Court was going to rule against the government.
The nativist movement has been practicing racist terrorism in the US for over a century. Back before the Civil War, they were beating up on “Papists”, mostly ethnic white Catholics, and burning down their churches.
Now they’re beating up Latinos…and they don’t care if they are illegal aliens or US citizens, either.

You are absolutely correct about racial profiling. The people who deny it have never experienced it and therefore claim it does not exist. Naturally, we know what race doesn’t get targeted for those profiling stops, don’t we?
It gets even worse — I don’t know if you live in the deep South, but here in Texas the death penalty is dealt out to black men faster than untreated syphilis from Tuskegee.

I do not know anything about the FAIR organization but it sounds like a group where Dobbs, Beck and Limbaugh belong. I can not stand to watch Fox news. It really turns my stomach to see people on there who practically just come out and say they hate any groups that are not white and agree with all of their stench. I do not know how these people can say they are GOD fearing and members of churches. I am a born again christian and belong to a church. Everything Christ taught was to love one another and to believe on Him. These people must read a different version of the Bible than I do.
We need to pray for this country and all these hate groups who are trying to torch a fire of hate and disbelief in anyone who does not agree with them.

The “illustrious” man who burned Bruno at the stake and persecuted Galileo was actually made into a saint. Cardinal Roberto was amazingly lacking in foresight! Unless we molt this infrastructure we have no excuse for proclaiming “don’t tread on me”.

Plow if you think your employer can’t influence what you do in your spare time you are delusional. Do something that embarrasses your employer or puts them in an unfavorable light and see how fast you get kicked to the curb. CNN could give Dobbs his walking papers today if there was the will to do so.

Congress has sold out the American people and rule of law by agreeing to give illegal aliens what the broke the law to obtain: permission to live and work in USA.
The media portrays illegal immigrants as hard working people who just want a better life. For many, that is true but the fact remains that illegal aliens are destroying our infrastructure by stealing services as healthcare, schooling, and committing horrific crimes.
Many hospitals and medical clinics are now closed because illegals used them for free medical care although they were to be open to illegals for emergency only.
My husband is dying and doesn’t have insurance due to a kidney disease. As he was registering for a test at the hospital, another man was called to register in the cubicle adjoining my husbands. The stranger sat down and promptly left after ten seconds. Thinking I was making a joke, I said to the hospital employee, “Was it something you said?”
She answered “No, he said he was undocumented so we’re not allowed to ask further questions and we just have to pay his bills”.
AMAZING! And here we are cutting back on living expenses to pay our medical bills.

Is there any organization or individual that supports some change or improvement to immigration policy, whether it be reducing illegal immigration through enforcement or shutting immigration down altogether or revising immigration policy to be needs based…. any organization supporting altering immigration policy (besides those who would open the borders completely and grant amnesty to current illegal residents) that the Southern Poverty Law Center doesn’t consider to be a HATE group?

Respectfully, provided they aren’t armed vigilante groups running around operating totally outside of the boundaries of law enforcement, I’m sure the SPLC and many Americans could probably support a more effective immigration policy with tighter controls provided it’s based on law and reality.
No one wants open borders, but neither Democrats or Republicans in Congress seem to have budget increases for Border Patrols high on their priority lists.
As to amnesty, I don’t know the answer but the actual costs of identifying and deporting millions of illegal aliens from the US would be staggering. No way that nut is going to be cracked in this economy.
I agree that providing hospitalization, education and other services to illegal immigrants is a drain to state and local budgets – but is it reasonable to allow say, an orange grower in California to legally bring 200 workers in from Mexico to harvest a crop, but not allow one of them to get medical treatment if they get injured?
The govt needs to lead on immigration policy and reform but right now they aren’t – we’ll hear alot about it during the next election cycle as a hot-button issue but then they’ll turn back to the economy and the 2 wars we’re fighting overseas.

The big question is: can we ever get beyond “Us versus Them?”
The idea that “we” get less because “they” get more is idiotic. Americans in Europe get the same medical coverage that “natives” get. Why is American medical care 47th in the world ? Why are so many babies dying? Why are all these people showing up for demonstrations to keep us so low down on the ladder of health care compared to the rest of the world? These people who are transrfixed with the Republican “message” are not informed with the truth. They don’t realise that we are so far down on the scale of medical coverage with the rest of the world. I have to believe that most of them have never had to make a claim on their health insurance or they would know the truth, which is that all “for profit” insurance companies reward their agents for regecting the most claims. An actual financial price is given for doing this. They give their agents many premises with which to deny claims, including being treated for acne as teenagers, or for being treated for injuries incurred from domestic violence at ANY time in their life.
These circumstancs are deemed as “pre-existing” conditions that are used as a pretext for denying claims.
While insurance claims agents are rewarded for denyiing claims, we will always be victims of the insurance industry.
Since the overwhelming majortity elected President Obama and a Democratic majority in Congress, they could push through any legislation they wish. The fact that President Obama would like to have a bi-partisan resulation to some of the most important problems before us is only another indication of his willingness to makee a bi-partisan agreement to these problems.
After Congressman Joe Wilson commited his unforgivable act of disrespect to our President, it’s been made clear that the South Carolina delagation will never recgnse the United States of America.
