    Spoken as a person who was born and raised in Michigan and spent seven years being educated in Ann Arbor, I know of few places as racially, ethnically and religiously mixed as the Ann Arbor and surrounding school districts. For such a thing to occur and not be punished for what it truly is – a hate crime – is intolerable, and, at worst, can imvite similar crimes with no fear of being prosecuted for a hate crime: “Hey, THEY got away with it….” And, by the way, I’m a conservative Jew.

    I think it’s a hate crime too. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck…

    After all, if this was just typical high school harassment, I doubt they would have removed her hijab. They also punched her before her brother. That tells me they are offended by the girl since her clothing outwardly shows her religion. Shame on the Ann Arbor PD.

    I’m against hate crimes, but I’m witholding judgement on this incident until a non-Muslim varifies what was said and done. This is because of the Islamic practice of “takyyia” which allows and/or requires a Muslim to lie and deceive if it will advance Islam. Muslims are taught by their religious leaders to play the victum role in western societies. Playing the victum role is a form of “stealth jihad”. I’m against hate crimes, but I need non-Muslim information before I make a decision on this one.

    Attacking any one is wrong and should have stiff penalties for aggressive anti social behavior. It should never go unanswered.

    I am an African American male and i believe what those teens did is not acceptable at all. They should have not have trageted the muslim young ady or her brother . These teens are probably being raised in a household full of ignorance and are not being educated.

    Substitute Jew/Black/Gay for Muslim in that posting and try re-read it. I’m an educator, but after reading this (and then doing a search for ‘islamophobia’ on the SPLC site and finding not a single entry, have changed my mind about using SPLC as a resource for my students.

    On a more personal note, Larry B., you are a dickhead. Oh, and no, I’m not a Muslim.
