The US Secret Service and the FBI are investigating a vandalism incident at a Lakeville golf course, where a swastika was carved into the 18th green above President Obama’s last name.

    How ridiculous!
    It’s hard to tell if the creator(s) are Nazis or if they believe the President is a Nazi. Either way it cheapens the viewpoints of those who rejoice that our nation has transcended racism to the point of electing a black president yet disagree with that president’s political philosophy and policy.
    This kind of nonsense only serves to provide more leverage and inspiration to those who would advocate for limitations / eradication of our constitutional rights.

    Then again, perhaps the creator(s) knew exactly what they were doing. This is the first time that I have experienced a constant nagging fear of expressing my opinion and being lumped in with stupid, ignorant, racists and their myopic world view simply because I might disagree with with the current president.

    Lets face it. There are extremists on all sides of most any issue. Any viewpoint carried to it’s extreme carries with it the danger that it might create an outcome opposite to what was originally intended. This is why it is so important to place the principle above the personality.
    The first amendment was designed to protect unpopular speech. Speech that is not politically correct does not need protection. This crime is one of vandalism, and trespassing. As unpalatable it might be, it should not be a crime to call the president a Nazi any more than it should be a crime to call Mother Teresa a satanist. The issue is not Obama or Mother Teresa. The issue is what happens if we forfeit the right to engage in offensive speech and a real tyrant like Adolf Hitler seeks power.

    We are treading on very dangerous ground in this country. These are very dangerous times. It is therefore more vital than ever that we, as a nation, be “wise as serpents and gentle as doves”.

    The guy (they didn’t say who it was, but we can assume it was the asst. manager mentioned in the article) who covered it up with a heart, that’s a true American patriot.

    As for the people who did it, they’re just sick. Probably connected with the tea-baggers.
