[Me] Is this your attempt at somehow making a point that racism more palatable when it is directed at white people? However mollifying your comments and however circuitous your arguments, that mindset in and of itself is racist and therefore unacceptable.

[Me] This assumption is entirely incorrect. Racism knows no socioeconomic barriers. According to this argument, poor, uneducated, welfare-recipient, Confederate-flag-waving white people in the South could not possibly be racist.

However, White Watch is a very serious form of parody in that it aims to aggresively criticize the absurdity of race itself as a social construct and the attempts by other white supremacist groups to maintain centuries-old uneven power structures with “whiteness” as the center relative to which “others” are rhetorically construed as inferior and peripheral.

By doing a project aimed at “proving” a thesis of white racial inferiority, the absurdity of all projects aimed at “proving” similar theses becomes readily apparent. The blog creator is simply turning the whole concept of racial superiority/inferiority upside down, which decenters the existing white supremacist projects. White Watch is absurd because all other similar projects are absurd.

It’s kind of a bold idea given the high probability of it being misunderstood, but I think even misunderstanding it accomplishes part of the intent. I think SPLC might have missed the boat on this one, and may be trying a bit too hard to be “fair and balanced” with respect to its portrayal of reverse racism presumably by non-whites against whites.

Caution SPLC. Let’s not forget the academic definition of racism: the construction and maintenance of social and economic structures and institutions aimed at maintaining uneven power relations to favor the majority racial group. Given this, it’s pretty difficult, although not impossible, for non-white minorities to be technically racist against the white majority. Bigotted, prejudiced, even discriminatory, yes of course, but to be racist requires being in a privileged position in an unequal system. Generally speaking, non-whites do not enjoy the many deeply embedded privileges of whiteness. This is why SPLC needs to be careful about too hastily committing a false equivalency fallacy.

Example, if you look back in history, even though blacks were good at baseball, there was strong resistance from whites. The fact that our courts have chosen to afford civil liberties to those who have chosen to ignore our laws and come here illegally does not overshadow the fact that they are not allowed those protections under Constitutional law. The 14th Amendment was added to our Constitution to provide equal rights to slaves, as they well deserved. This amendment was not designed to provide tax-based services to those who would choose to ignore the laws of this land and come here illegally for the express intent and purpose of defrauding citizens for their own personal gain.

Thus spoke Jack Rabid, the Constitutional revisionist, the wild eyed radical. The Supreme Court has not changed its view for over a century on birthright citizenship. Even back then, SCOTUS did far from “twist” the document, rather, they upheld it to the straight and narrow test of law to avoid the kinds of abuses and tyrannies we broke from in our Revolution. If you are born in this country, you are a citizen, that is as the Founders and true “conservatives” of Constitutional civil liberties and real American values.

And it is not just the 14th Ammendment (the one that you want to change) that you seek to spit upon; it is Article II which specifies condition of birth as a prerequisite for holding the office of President. Would you do away with the birth requirement for this office as well?

I would have less scorn for this movement if those behind it could decide if they want to try a frontal assault on the Constitution (i.e. repeal the 14th), a Supreme Court challenge, or simply to pen some kind of nativist specific legislation as a work-around. As it stands it’s just endless repetition of what a small group of Constitutional scholars and jurists printed out to assist an opportunistic anti-immigrant movement within the GOP.

So you claim that your opposition to immigration is not due to color, race, nationality, etc, and due to some other “fact” you claim about 11 million people. You affirm it with total faith in your righteousness.

Therefore, please tell us, what theft is implied by circulating in the country without a visa?

Before you launch into a diatribe and cliches about identity theft, emergency room use, food stamps, etc. do you have actual numbers to substantiate any of these claims? Can you back up your position with empirical fact?

Because a priori, it is almost impossible to cast a vote if you are not a US citizen (at least it has never been documented to occur); emergency rooms under federal law must stabilize emergency patients of any national origin, and to point at one group without looking at another is a red herring; police records and detainee records show immigrants commit fewer serious crimes per capita than citizens; undocumented immigrants pay sales tax and property tax which funds the schools they use; and, federal tax may be deducted and never claimed.

What exactly are they stealing? It sounds to me like you are taking advantage of popular stereotypes to focus your hatred and anger upon scapegoats. The rooster has come home to roost.
