It's slightly interesting: the "organization" spent $1.4 million that year doing what it does. Public Advocate doesn't pay Delgaudio a salary, but Eugene Delgaudio & Associates Inc. got $148,888 from the nonprofit in 2008 for management services. According to the 990, Mr. D got a salary of $86,909 from his namesake company, of which he is the sole owner. There's a small glitch with that, because while it's easy to find Public Advocate's corporate registration on the Virginia State Corporation Commission website, there doesn't appear to be any listing for Eugene Delgaudio and Associates Inc., even though the 990 shows it as residing at the same Virginia address as Public Advocate. There's a company by that name registered in Delaware, and at one time it was registered in D.C., but the latter charter has been revoked. Theoretically, if Eugene is doing business in Virginia with an "Inc." in his company name, he ought to be registered there as a "foreign" entity even if the company's legal domicile is Delaware.
