I agree! Sad part about all of this, the OC Republicans are asking for Davenport to resign, but no mention of asking Tim Whitacre to resign. Mr. Whitacre is alleged to have came to the defense of another OC member that I believe to have engaged in the same behavior. If I’m not mistaken, it was the republican that sent the watermelon email about Obama.
OC is really a racist/fascist place in Califas. This county has been targeting all minority groups – especially blacks and Latinos, as you can see recently, this is where they targeted Muslims (Yorba Linda).
Most of us here in Califas are waiting for the next election so we can really show them what we are about. In Bell, Califas, Muslim Ali Saleh was voted in for city council – expect more minorities to be voted in that reflect our communities and values.

@skinnyminny – I think people who do that might just be ignorant of their racism, sometimes, and don’t interpret what they do as being insensitive. But Tanton’s ideas are more than insensitivity – it is bordering on support for genocide to criticize Mexican immigrants for having “too many children” (just to clarify, that’s not a direct quote from Tanton) and demand that something be done about it. To advocate foisting birth control on a population defined by ethnicity or “race” – the only means possible of curbing childbirth by Latino immigrants – is to support genocide.

It’s good to have Tanton’s evil doings presented to a national audience by The Very Authoritative New York Times. But by giving SPLC just a passing mention, the Times failed to give you adequate credit. No question the story drew heavily on your reporting and research. You did the heavy lifting. Shame on them for not acknowledging that.

Funny how they always backtrack, or supplement their comments with, ‘we’re not racists!’ That’s the same thing that Marilyn Davenport, Orange County (Califas) Republican said after sending out the email with a picture of Obama as a chimp, with the comments ‘now I know why there’s no birth certificate’ – then had the nerve to say she has black friends. Who are her black friends? I assume it’s people like Steele…To top it all off, she then had the nerve to get angry at the person who leaked the email to OC Weekly! Oh, but, everyone describes her as a sweet old lady too!
