    As much as I abhor Nazis, physically fighting them sinks to their low level and provides them with propaganda.

    To Stephen D. Calhoun : You are absolutely entitled to your pacifist opinions and I respect you for them, but in the same breath I would warn you that anything less than aggressive resistance is not enough. It does not sink to ‘their low level’ to combat them openly and your remark that it is, is more than insulting. Our brothers and sisters are willing to suffer injury and even death, not to mention arrests in order to confront supremacists. I would ask that although you disagree with the methods you attempt to respect the sacrifice.

    punkmar77 – You are aiding and abetting fascism if you attack Nazis. Nazis thrive on being the “victim”. I respect sacrifice and not violent action. If people are civilly disobedient and choose to block a Nazi march that is OK with me. Maybe you do not remember that pro-slavers attacked first during our American Civil War. Maybe you do not remember that the monster Hitler attacked first. Maybe you do not remember that the Japanese fascist militarists attacked our nation first. I do not approve of violence and I never will. There is one thing I know about fascists and Nazis: they are clever about propaganda. I made a comment in a local newspaper against the Nazis. There were multiple negative responses. I think the best way to fight Nazis is to follow the lead of the SPLC. The SPLC has been successful by filing lawsuits against the Klan and Nazis. The SPLC has legally taken money from racists. The information available from the media is that the Nazis were attacked and two anti-racists are in jail. To the average citizen, who looks like the law breaker and who looks like the law abider? Here in New Jersey, we have a governor who is playing the fascist propaganda game. He makes demagogic appeals to the public. Underneath his messages are appeals to racism. I am doing everything I can to counteract his demagoguery. I hope you will try to see things from the perspective of sensible effective action against fascism and racism rather than violent confrontation. I think the counter demonstration against the Nazis was a good idea.
