Those who oppose Israel’s policies deserve to die. Even teenagers.
That’s the only interpretation possible of ultra-right-wing Muslim-hating blogger Debbie Schlussel’s Thursday post, in which she notes that the day before Anders Behring Breivik paid a visit to their political camp a week ago and turned scores of them into corpses, the teenagers on Utøya Island had dared to hoist a “Boycott Israel” sign.
Schlussel’s blog, entitled, “Karma? Norway Camp Breivik Shot Up Celebrated HAMAS, Jew-Hatred,” will surely rank among the most coldly savage Internet postings of all time. Her faint-hearted condemnation of mass murder does nothing to mitigate the horror of her obvious, abundant glee over last Friday’s bloodshed
“These kids who were killed by a terrorist . . . well, they sided with Islamic terrorists,” Schlussel wrote. “Funny how Glenn Beck has come under attack for comparing the camp to a Hitler Youth camp. Based on these pics, seems like he’s spot on, though he should have added, HAMAS Youth camp, too. As we all know, Nazis boycotted Jews and were Jew-killers. And these hateful, privileged brats at the camp boycotted Jews and sided with Jew-killers. I don’t condone violent massacres on innocent civilians, and I condemn what Breivik did. He is a terrorist just like the 9/11 hijackers, Hezbollah, HAMAS, and Nidal Malik Hasan [the U.S. Army major charged with killing 13 people at Fort Hood, Texas, in November 2009]. But what goes around comes around. You support terrorists against innocent civilians in Israel, then you get attacked by terrorists who are upset with your support.”
A Mississippi man has been convicted in the 2010 murder of a white supremacist leader. Vincent McGee was charged with capital murder in the death of Richard Barrett, the founder of the neo-Nazi Nationalist Movement. McGee claimed that Barrett made sexual advanced towards him, while the prosecution claims the motive was robbery.
A plea deal has been made in the case of a Montana white supremacist teen accused of threatening a Native American man with a gun. Allen Goff, 19, had been charged with felony assault and obstruction as well carrying a concealed weapon, and was previous charged and acquitted in the shooting of a Hispanic teen. Goff has been reported as the leader of the Montana Creators Assembly, an offshoot of the white supremacist Creativity Movement.
The saga of the Alaska Peacekeepers Militia murder conspiracy trial continues as the judge announced a delay in the bail hearing of one of the defendants. Coleman Barney, 27, asked the court to release him as he awaits trial, after his bail was reduced from $2 million to $100,000 dollars. Barney stands accused, along with five other militia members, of plotting to kill state officials and law enforcement officers.
Warren Jeffs, leader of the polygamist FLDS Church, appeared in court today to answer charges of sexual assault of a child. Jeffs told the judge that he is representing himself, addressed the court in a 25-minute rant, and repeatedly interrupting the prosecutor, forcing the judge to call a recess. Jeffs faces a maximum of life in prison if convicted.
A noted European anti-racism organization reported Tuesday that it has uncovered emails between Norwegian mass murderer Anders Behring Breivik and the English Defence League (EDL), a far-right anti-Muslim street-protest organization, sent just four months before the attack in Oslo Friday that left 76 people, most of them teenagers, dead.
The EDL on Monday published an angry denial of any links between the group and Breivik, calling it “shameful that journalists have been all too quick to link the English Defence League to this murderous creature.” But on Tuesday, the anti-racism group Searchlight released transcripts of emails it says were exchanged between the EDL and someone – apparently Breivik – who went by the pseudonym Sigurd Jorsalfare, the name of a 12th Century Norwegian king who led one of the Crusades.
According to The Guardian, EDL leader Stephen Lennon on Tuesday backtracked from the categorical denial issued Monday, and said he has asked regional EDL leaders to determine if Breivik had in fact made contact with members, as the gunman claims in the 1,516-page manifesto he posted online hours before his attack. One-time presidential candidate and conservative television commentator Pat Buchanan, who is promoted as one of the faces of MSNBC, has somehow been able to say and do the kinds of outrageous things that more often than not get people booted out of mainstream venues. His latest outrage was published on Monday, a column in which Buchanan defended Oslo mass murderer Anders Breivik’s theories, saying he “may be right.”
The list of Buchanan’s outrages is miles long. Buchanan has traded in anti-Semitism, referring to Capitol Hill as “Israeli-occupied territory.” He has challenged aspects of the Holocaust as “group fantasies of martyrdom.” In a speech he helped write for President Ronald Reagan, Buchanan went so far as to portray Nazi SS troops, who served as personal protection for Hitler and were responsible for many of the Nazis’ war crimes, as victims. And he has described Hitler as “an individual of great courage.”
The judge of the trial of alleged Spokane MLK Day bomber Kevin W. Harpham has ruled that details of his anti-Semitic views are inadmissible as evidence. Harpham, 37, is charged with allegedly planting a backpack full of explosives on the route of the Spokane MLK Day parade, which was found before it could be detonated. Harpham was affiliated with the neo-Nazi National Alliance, and had posted messages on extremist websites.
A Utah prisoner with white supremacist ties is planning to marry a mixed-race woman as proof of his not being racist. Curtis Allgier, 31, is accused of shooting a prison guard as he escorted Allgier to a medical facility and escaping from prison. Allgier, who is covered with white supremacist tattoos, says his marriage to the woman proves that his connections are not indicative of his true beliefs.
An attorney for members of the Alaska Peacemaker Militia on trial for conspiracy to commit murder is disputing the validity of the evidence against his clients in the face of a possible gag order. Tim Dooley is questioning photographic and audio evidence that links his clients to weapons and plans to kill and capture state officials. He is also questioning the credibility of a federal witness to the plot. The prosecution is seeking to prevent Dooley from speaking to the press about the evidence or his view of the trial.
A second person has been charged with a hate crime in the July assault of a Pakistani woman in Niagara Falls, N.Y. Sheree Ann Saboteur, 38, was arrested for her role in harassing and beating the victim because of her ethnicity.
A recently released FBI training manual lists books by Robert Spencer, a prominent anti-Muslim figure in America, as recommended reading for field agents hoping to further their understanding of Islam.
The revelation, first reported by Gawker, is particularly troubling considering Spencer’s positions on Islam have contributed significantly to the spread of anti-Muslim sentiment in America. Spencer co-founded the hate group Stop Islamization of America and was profiled due to his anti-Mulsim beliefs in a recent issue of the Intelligence Report. But more recently, Spencer heavily influenced Anders Behrin Breivik, who killed scores of people with a fertilizer bomb in Oslo and a shooting spree on the nearby island of Utoya on July 22. Breivik repeatedly cited Spencer in his 1,500-page manuscript that argued Islam is destroying Western civilization. ( continue to full post… )
Ken Mieske – who lived up to his heavy-metal-music moniker “Ken Death” by savagely beating an Ethiopian immigrant to death with a baseball bat in Portland, Ore., in 1988 – died Tuesday in an Oregon hospital.
Mieske and two other members of a racist skinhead group called East Side White Pride (ESWP), Kyle Brewster and Steve Strasser, were involved in the beating and subsequently pleaded guilty to murder, assault and racial intimidation in the attack on graduate student Mulugeta Seraw and another Ethiopian man. The case provided the basis for a landmark Southern Poverty Law Center civil suit against White Aryan Resistance (WAR) founder Tom Metzger, one of most notorious and influential American white supremacists of the last 30 years.
Mieske, 45 – known as “Ken Death” during his days as a death-metal rock musician – had been imprisoned since his arrest. Prison officials did not give a cause of death, but according to The Oregonian, Mieske had long suffered from Hepatitis C.
A white supremacist Connecticut blogger convicted for making death threats is asking for charges over some of his more extreme comments to be thrown out. Harold “Hal” Turner is currently serving three years for making death threats against federal judges in Illinois.
A Georgia man who attempted to takeover a courthouse by force has asked to fire his legal team. Darren Wesley Huff is asking to dismiss his lawyers claiming they are incompetent and want to “sell [him] down the river.” Huff is accused of travelling to Tennessee with firearms and ammunition and attempting to make citizens’ arrests of officials in a Chattanooga courthouse for refusing to indict President Obama on charges linked to his birth certificate. Huff has admitted his connections to Georgia militia groups and the Oath Keepers movement.
An Alaska man has received a lighter sentence than expected in a fraud case due to his role as an informant in the case of the Alaska Peacekeepers Militia. Gerald Olson, 36, faced felony charges for defrauding customers of a septic tank business, but was given probation and a suspended sentence. Prosecutors say he helped foil a plot by the Alaska militia group, led by Schaeffer Cox, to kidnap and kill Alaskan state troopers, judges, and public officials.
A jury has finally been selected in the case of accused polygamist leader Warren Jeffs. Nearly 100 potential jurors had been dismissed for admitting that they knew enough about Jeffs to be biased in trial. Jeffs is charged with two counts of sexual assault of a child as well as bigamy. Jeffs faces 119 years in prison if convicted.
Neo-Nazi Internet gossip and budding real estate magnate Bill White has had a busy couple of months. Just recently out of prison after spending over two years for making various threats, White has already contributed several articles to the American Free Press, an anti-Semitic weekly founded by Holocaust denier Willis Carto.
And now, according to correspondence obtained by Hatewatch, he is wading back into the real estate business – apparently going back to his pre-prison routine of buying up cheap properties, renovating them, and renting them out for more. ( continue to full post… )
While most people who found their words or sentiments echoed in Anders Breivik’s screed raced to distance themselves from him, an obscure American blogger named Brett Stevens was practically giddy to learn that Breivik, who murdered more than 70 people this past Friday in an anti-Muslim murder spree, had quoted his writing.
“I am honored to be so mentioned by someone who is clearly far braver than I,” Stevens wrote on Sunday. “[N]o comment on his methods, but he chose to act where many of us write, think and dream.” ( continue to full post… )
