Mayor, council reject call for hate-crime resolution

Leaders of the gay and lesbian community, local Democrats and clergy gathered Tuesday on the steps of  City Hall to urge the Colorado Springs City Council and Mayor Steve Bach to sign a resolution condemning an attack the victims have characterized as a hate crime.

    Although it shouldn’t be considered a “military” town, the council and its supporters seem to be in favor of “Don’t ask…don’t tell…’don’t matter’.”

    It’s still a crime to attack people and beat them up. My guess is this “good ole’ boy” town isn’t doing a thing to investigate this obvious hate crime.

    It never ceases to amaze me how many people think being LGBT is a choice. After hearing some of my friends stories, I can’t imagine making a choice to get beaten up in school every day.
