Second suspect arrested in gay-bashing case

A 15-year-old was charged with assault and damage to property. The teen and three others are accused of taunting a man as gay, then assaulting him in the parking lot of a grocery store.

Could we retire the term “gay bashing”? This term trivializes an assault on a gay person. It diminishes the act, makes it sound cartoonish. We may need something like “bigotry assault” or better than that. But please…
