Ann Coulter believes only in herself, promotes herself, and is full of hate for anyone that disagrees with her. She is too radical and only causes more harm than good by her far, far, far right opinons. Yes one can have opinions, but she is extremely hateful….and to that, she claims to be a Christian? Come on! Her attitude and the people who follow her, are not true Christians, as Jesus talk, ‘love thy neighbor as thyself.”

The saddest part is that conservatives who add comments here just don’t get the purpose of the website. They seem to distort what they are reading into something that lines up with their right wing beliefs. Ann Coulter herself should not be in the public realm much less in politics due to her misrepresentations i.e facts that supposedly support her extreme right wing agenda. She just says what ever suits her beliefs and presents it as fact. Research never enters into it. Fabricating facts to agree w/her & her constituents views is the real problem with Ann Coulter. Don’t believe her GOProud (aka self-loathers)!

The “chaining to the White House Fence” refers to LT Dan Choi, an Iraq War combat vet who came out in protest to DADT – he was given an “other than honorable” discharge. for coming out & he has been trying to get back in the Army. He had chained himself the the fence at the White House in a peaceful protest against a policy that has since been rescinded & is in fact in the process of being dismantled. Despite our 1st Amendment rights to “petition the government” and “peaceful assembly”, LT Choi was arrested & thrown in jail. He is looking at losing his VA benefits (he has PTSD as a result of his combat experiences), as well as having to pay back the Army for the period of service he “owes” them, despite his repeated attempts to reenlist. This man is willing to return to the horrible maw of war that has disabled him, to be back with “his troops”. That these despicable, obviously self loathing gay Republicans can demean LT Choi’s actions speaks volumes. LT Choi is a hero, whether you’re gay or straight – Democrat or Republican – he deserves our respect.

I never said that, nor would I ever, ever even imply that. I was merely implying the fact that Coulter may, in fact be transsexual.

When I called her disgusting, I was referring to her personality and political views. Her physical appearance never came to mind.

Though I can see why you would understand my having written that. It was very poorly worded, and for that I apologize.

If you read any of my other comments you will see my attitude toward GLBT. (It’s very positive, btw.)

I hope I didn’t offend you. The only people I meant to offend were Ann Coulter and her ilk.

Thomas: The SPLC will take on folks who promote hate without regard to race/ethnicity, gender, creed (or lack thereof), sexual orientation, nationality, etc. You have to admit what Ann Coulter has routinely put out is hateful.

I am a lesbian, and I can tell you now, I know many, many gay and lesbian folks who are Republicans. The Southern Poverty Law Center is inherently non-partisan, because, as these commenters’ remarks show, hate knows no political affiliation. Remember, in the Jim Crow South, it was the democrats and Dixiecrats that called the shots.

The author of this post seemed to gloss over Barron’s comment “…a hell of a lot more fun than chaining yourself to the White House fence.” Barron just said that anyone who desires to be treated on an equal basis by society should be treated as nothing more than a joke! Plus, he publically admitted that GLBT citizens are inferior to their straight counterparts! How this comment could be interpreted any other way is beyond me.

I don’t know what the GOProud are thinking… or if they are thinking at all… I thought among conservative people, being honest was a great value to cherish… I think that I am right in saying that being honest WAS (but no longer is) a great value for conservatives to cherish. Quite sad that these GOProud are willing to sacrifice their sexuality… something that GOP don’t ask heterosexuals to do and that is to sacrifice their sexuality.

I think you’re right, Aron. Sad. I always thought it was good that there was a place in the GOP for GLBTs, but if they’ve stooped to this, I think the writing is *really* on the wall… that the GOP is a bunch of homophobes at heart… and anyone who doesn’t see that is deluding themselves.
