New Intelligence Report Released Today
Posted By Mark Potok On August 23, 2011 @ 8:02 am In Intelligence Report | 5 Comments
The latest issue of the Southern Poverty Law Center’s Intelligence Report [1], released today, focuses on the threat of homegrown Muslim terrorists, even as it warns in an editorial against demonizing Muslims in the U.S. and neglecting threats from white supremacists and others on the radical right. Entitled “Ten Years After [2],” a reference to the Islamist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, the cover story is accompanied by profiles of 10 leading domestic jihadists [3] and a timeline describing 30 plots since 9/11 [4].
The issue also has two stories on antigovernment “sovereign citizens,” extremists who believe that most federal tax and criminal laws do not apply to them. The first, “‘Sovereign’ President [5],” describes a key group called the “Republic for the united States,” one of whose leaders was recently killed in a confrontation with police in Arizona. The second, “‘Sovereigns’ in Black [6],” examines the growing trend of black Americans joining the movement — despite that movement’s racist roots.

Thank you for your story on Islamist extremism. It was very informative. Sadly, you may get attacked by some for it, but it’s definitely worth it.

You guys (gals too , less I be accused of sexism) should do a report on violent extremists like the Crips, Bloods, Latin Kings, Mexican Mafia, Russian Mafia, Gangster Disciples, Vice Lords, MS13, Surenos, the Medellin Cartel, La Raza, the D.C. Blacks, etc. Also, don’t forget historical hate groups like The Weather Underground, SDS, and The Symbionese Liberation Army.

Jim let me be the first to accuse you of racism as well as sexism.

Jim,
The Intelligence Project has done many reports on non-White racist gangs.
Please show evidence that the National Council of La Raza is racist.

Wow Jim, you sure are confused. Let’s look at your list here:
“Crips, Bloods, Latin Kings, Mexican Mafia, Russian Mafia, Gangster Disciples, Vice Lords, MS13, Surenos, the Medellin Cartel,”
These are criminal organizations, most of them tied to drug trafficking and other illegal enterprises. They are not political, and do not plan to eliminate large amounts of the US population or take away people’s rights.
“La Raza,”
I second Ian’s demand for evidence that the Council of La Raza is racist.
” the D.C. Blacks, etc.”
Who the hell are you talking about? The black people of D.C.? They’re a hate group now? When did that happen? Is “etc.”a hate group? Ordinarily I would think it meant et cetera, but given you labeling all your bogeymen as hate groups, I should be sure.
” Also, don’t forget historical hate groups like The Weather Underground, SDS, and The Symbionese Liberation Army.”
None of these groups were hate groups. The SDS in fact, fought for civil rights.
