Kate, at first I thought your comment was a very amusing political witticism ... until I realized it actually may be true, and is therefore tragic. Whole families can be ruined by just one hate-twisted member. Another shame is that the hate-filled are vulnerable to and corralled by power-hungry sociopaths who manipulate them into committing despicable crimes against humanity. Hate makes one weak and powerless against them. These "leaders" are actually hate-mongers who amass power by blaming others for societal ills, in order to distract from their own failings, as they proclaim absolute power by pretending to be perfect, blameless, and divinely inspired. Blaming others for societal ills allows the abdication of both compassion and personal responsibility for one's own actions... not to mention the terrible things taught to children ("Let him who is without sin throw the first stone...") The sad thing for those who indulge in hatred is that it produces the opposite of what one intends - it only destroys those who live in it, wastes perfectly good, productive citizens, and brings them terrible misery. Hate also galvanizes those who oppose injustice to work against and correct that injustice. The airing of a wound is the pathway to healing. Bullies can only do their ugly work in the darkness of secrecy.
