Unfortunately, this group (and others like it) are what many other countries judge Americans by. Many of folks think all Muslims are screaming for jihad. Well, many other countries of all faiths think that this is what makes up America. Sadly, this group matters because of the stain it puts on the country.

For edifiction purposes, many of you should read the article by the photographer who spent a month with the Phelps family. During his time there, he said that the main message he took from the family is that they are terrified of God. Terrified. Fear drives this group far more than the hatred that they spew.

I usually do not agree with this site on much of nothing, but this group is nasty,heartless and not a reflection on Yah’s faith. A good roaring loud motorcycle group could run them off or drown them out. They have gotten way too much attention. Attention drives them. Just a few nut jobs and this is what happens.

I agree with the above post that states giving these people a forum on a university campus is not educationally useful. This group is a minuscule blip on the radar, largely composed of an extended family and a few others, who hardly represent any significant sort of political or religious trend. They do not matter except that they are cruelly indifferent to the pain of others. They thrive on the attention they are getting. Their stances on anything do not merit any attention. A bunch of ignorant rabble raving in the crowd, what educational value do they offer that cannot be gained from news reports?

If miami u. pays this hate group to participate in the education of this religion class…the U. is enabling this hate group to continue it’s sick message!
If I had a kid in miami u…i’d pull her ass outta’ that U. so fast it’d make their heads swim!
i will NOT CONTRIBUTE to the hate speech in any way, shape or form, in this country!
let them READ ABOUT THEM IN THE PAPERS!!!! FOR CHRISTSSAKE!

Absolutely wonderful what you mention above about the community coming out to help at the funeral of your friend’s son. Let’s hope that until the evil Phelps people are somehow stopped that more people do things like this!

Those Phelps Phreaks tried to turn my friend’s son’s military funeral into a circus but were overwhelmed by Oklahoma hospitality. His plane was late & their OKC airport protest permit expired after 3 hrs. Semi drivers blocked them on I-35 on the trip home. At the funeral every volunteer fire dept in the area blocked them visually with firetrucks & turned on the sirens when the doors opened after the service. Patriot Guard motorcycles gunned their engines. Our friends weren’t disturbed during their son’s funeral thanks to hundreds in the community who protected them from these Phelps Phreaks.

Why would they do that ( Miami ) ? Why would anyone give them a platform? Its not like no one knows what they are about. I think everyone knows what they stand for and always have.

As long as it is made crystal clear that Westboro is a hate group, there may be some educational value in the context of religious extremism. It would probably be best if the seminar or whatever be held off campus.
