News Roundup for September 22, 2011
White supremacist gang member Lawrence Russell Brewer was executed Wednesday evening for the infamous dragging death slaying of James Byrd Jr., a black man from East Texas.
The University of Montana’s Native American Center in Missoula was targeted with a racist sticker on a building earlier this week. The sticker listed a website for a white supremacist group, the Montana Creators. Missoula residents also found racist flyers on their cars Monday morning.
The Battle Creek, Mich., Police Department’s Gang Suppression Unit is investigating vandalism on several homes. Vandals left racial and anti-gay slurs, swastikas, and the letters KKK on the homes, using black spray paint. They also sprayed the letters of a street gang on some of the homes, however officials do not think the vandalism is gang-related.
Two men have been charged with attempted murder and two women with complicity to commit attempted murder in the alleged attack on a gay man in Harlan County, Ky., last April. The County’s Commonwealth Attorney plans to pursue the case as a hate crime.

Re: The Texas execution of Lawrence Brewer, according to the documentary “Jasper Texas” this is the second case of a White person being executed for the killing of a Black person in Texas. The other case was really a property crime, as the victim was somebody else’s slave.

From the KY story, this struck me:
“In the other alleged hate crime, a lesbian couple attending a Fourth of July fireworks show with the children of one of the women said several people who had been drinking yelled slurs and attacked them.”
If the couple here had been male-female, don’t you think the story would have been written “a couple attending a Fourth of July fireworks show with ***their*** children”? There would NOT have been any discussion of the children’s biological origins in the story! Frigging double-standard… >:-/

RE: the racist sticker article. What’s really disappointing is that virtually ALL of the responses to that article are by white supremacists/racists.
How disappointing…

Regarding that Texas story. The vile and rabidly racist white supremacist who was put to death, was the sole reason for Texas ending the last meal deal. It was reported from another news source that requested documents on what that condemned white supremacist ordered for his last meal. The meal all by itself was not cheap. This guy ordered alot of junk, all of which he ate none of it. Rendering that state to end it’s last meal requests for Death Row inmates.
