How could this be considered a hate crime??? it’s a dispute within a religious sect.

There’s far more violent racist crime every day that is ignored because the victims are white. In the case the perps were white so that makes it a hate crime.

    If they were non-white…

So, because it’s a dispute within a religious sect, it can’t be a hate crime? Do you realize how ridiculous that sounds? Religion is the reason for more than half the wars in the world. Extreme religious beliefs are responsible for 9/11 along with massive other atrocities throughout history. Where would you draw the line?
