Yes, call all cops to “book” the neo-Nazi members as soon as they surface but the NBPP leader offering a public bounty & talking about “dead or alive” referring to the alleged shooter is what? Acceptable? A justified reaction?

The Neighborhood Watch volunteer I doubt walked up to this guy & shot him unprovoked. Maybe if there hadn’t been (at the very least) suspicion of wrongdoing by the volunteer, the entire incident could’ve been avoided.

Given that showing up in a “stand your ground” shoot first ask questions never state dressed as a Nazi could be practically listed on the coroner’s report as “death by suicide” one doubts that these people actually have enough courage to show up.

Does anyone remember that Nazi group that wanted to march in Washington, DC behind an army of DC Police officers and then canceled their march because only three Nazis showed up to march? If they are too chicken to march behind an army of police officers there to protect them, there is no way they are going to be showing up in a place where someone could shoot you merely for feeling threatened (and considering that the mere sight of a Nazi uniform is enough to make many feel threatened).

ASA Angela Corey says she is not convening a grand jury, and if she charges, she will charge by information. Under Florida law, a grand jury is mandatory only for (a) a Murder I charge; (b) the rape of a child, both of which are still capital crimes, though only the former can actually incur the death penalty. Any crime from Murder II on down can be charged by information. It’s anyone’s guess what this means. She could be going easy on Zimmerman; on the other hand, she could be afraid a grand jury of Seminole Countians would.

In the late ’60s, people in the small Virginia town where I lived at the time were circulating a rumor that the Black Panthers (the “old” version) were “known” to be planning to come to our town from Washington, D.C., to wreak havoc on white people. Like any good urban legend, the story was always attributed to some unimpeachable but unnamed source.

Not surprisingly, no such thing ever actually happened, and none of the people who mongered that rumor ever came forward and said, “You know, I was completely wrong about that Black Panther stuff, how could I have been so gullible?”

For a bit of off color humor a fox news affiliate in Orlando ran the headline “Civil Rights group patrolling Sanford.”

Is the National Socialist Movement any more of a threat than the New Black Panthers? I read the NSP profile on the link, 61 chapters, yada yada, but are they all trash-talk and no patrolling? (Except for Internet trolling.) Just like I doubt the NBP could come up with much more than $10 for a bounty, to say nothing of $10,000. In the wonderful world of the Internet, George Plimpton’s “paper tigers” have turned into “paperless Panthers” and “screen SeigHeilers.”

That said, I was having a discussion with a co-worker about the Trayvon Martin case (as an American expatriate, I’m often called upon to explain the bizarre goings-on in ViolenceLand) and SHE mentioned the $10K bounty. Not out of prejudice or anything, just as a factoid that had sunk into her consciousness. People in other countries register some strange things about the U.S. If America is a brand, its reputation is sinking to that of the “pink slime” hamburger additive in the eyes of the world.
