Our public defender system and the underpaid and over worked public defenders who work in them are already overloaded representing garden variety criminals. I don't know if this fellow could make bond or not but I wish there were a way to make him pay a lawyer to represent him by garnishing some percentage of his pension, or if he could not make a suitable arrangement with a private attorney, to require him to compensate the public defender system for the work they do for someone with a lifetime pension.
