Indictment: Amish Photographed Forcible Hair, Beard Cuttings

By Bill Morlin on April 9, 2012 - 5:10 pm, Posted in Hate Crime

The FBI has recovered a disposable camera that reportedly was used to photograph Amish men and women whose beards and hair were forcibly shaved in what is now being prosecuted as a federal hate crime.

That detail is contained in a new, expanded 10-count federal indictment just returned by a grand jury in Cleveland. The indictment increases the number of defendants from seven to 16.

The victims and the defendants in the case are Amish – traditionally pacifists who usually resolve their disputes internally without law enforcement. The beards and hair of the victims were sheared, federal court documents allege, to disgrace the victims as punishment for “previous and ongoing religious disagreements” with members of the Amish faith in Ohio. The New Black Panther Party (NBPP) and New Black Liberation Militia (NBLM) are planning an armed rally in Sanford, Fla. later this month, Hatewatch has learned.

Speaking via phone from Jacksonville, where his group was holding a press conference with NBPP area spokesman Mikhail Muhammad, NBLM head Minister Prince Najee Shaka Muhammad today told Hatewatch that the armed rally, planned for April 21, is part of a crusade to obtain “justice” for Trayvon Martin, the black teenager whose shooting death in Sanford at the hands of a neighborhood watch volunteer has caused waves of outrage across America. Neo-Nazis Plan Patrols in Florida in Wake of Trayvon Martin Shooting

By Heidi Beirich on April 8, 2012 - 2:35 pm, Posted in Neo-Nazi

The neo-Nazi National Socialist Movement (NSM) has announced that it will be conducting patrols in Seminole County, Fla., to protect “local citizens from the area who are concerned for the safety of their families.” The group says it is prepared for “racial violence” in the Sanford area, where the Martin shooting occurred, and that is has been “contacted by dozens of local citizens” supposedly seeking protection.

The NSM’s announcement warns of imminent racial violence, saying that “the Melting Pot is brimming over like a powder keg ready to explode into the streets.” Rabidly anti-Semitic and racist, the NSM is known for its frequent rallies, where members often come dressed in full Nazi uniforms featuring swastika armbands. Law enforcement officials arrested two people early Sunday in connection with a deadly spate of random shootings in Tulsa that had residents on edge. England and Watts

The attacks began in the early morning hours Friday and resulted in the deaths of three people. Two others were injured. All of the victims were black and the shootings, which took place in a predominantly black neighborhood and were seemingly random, prompted speculation that race was a motivating factor. At this point, police have not provided a motive. ( continue to full post… )

Texas Jury Hears Account of Fatal Shooting by White Supremacist

By Marilyn Elias on April 5, 2012 - 4:20 pm, Posted in Christian Identity, Extremist Crime

By Friday, jurors are expected to begin weighing the evidence against a Texas murder suspect allegedly linked to Kingdom Identity Ministries, a racist, anti-Semitic group that opposes mixing of the races. Defendant Mark Simmons of Buda told an investigating officer that the victim, his friend  Steven Woelfel, deserved to die because he had a Mexican girlfriend, according to testimony in the Hays County trial.

Simmons contended that after years of the U.S. government spying on him, he was in a paranoid mental state at the time of the killing, according to the San Marcos Mercury. He testified that he accidentally shot the 55-year-old Woelfel in his friend’s home in April 2010 and let the body sit for a week before setting a fire that burned it beyond recognition. In addition to murder, he’s charged with arson and tampering with evidence. ( continue to full post… )

Accused Utah Cop-Killer Had Antigovernment Views

By Bill Morlin on April 5, 2012 - 3:31 pm, Posted in Antigovernment, Extremist Crime

A Utah man accused of murdering one police officer and wounding five others developed antigovernment views after being fired as an armed security guard for the IRS, his father told Hatewatch today.

Matthew David Stewart, a 37-year-old decorated Army veteran accused of fatally shooting a police officer in January, previously worked for a private contractor providing security at the IRS Service Center and nine other IRS offices scattered throughout Ogden, Utah, said his father, Michael Stewart.

His son was fired after he was caught accessing a computer network in an IRS building while pulling a graveyard shift, the father said. After a period of unemployment, Matthew Stewart was hired to stock shelves at Wal-Mart, a job he still held on Jan. 4, when members of a Weber County, Utah, drug task force showed up, looking for marijuana plants in his Ogden home. Feds Charge Ex-Con in Wisconsin Abortion Clinic Bombing

By Leah Nelson on April 4, 2012 - 11:23 am, Posted in Anti-Abortion

An ex-convict being held in connection with the Sunday night bombing of a Grand Chute, Wis., Planned Parenthood clinic has been charged with two federal crimes, the FBI says.

Francis G. Grady, 50, was arrested Monday evening after investigators identified him based on eyewitness information and video footage from the crime scene. He was charged yesterday with arson of a building used in interstate commerce, and intentionally damaging the property of a facility that provides reproductive health services. He is scheduled to appear in court this afternoon at 1:30.

Authorities say the homemade bomb, which damaged both the clinic’s examination room and Grady’s car when it exploded Sunday evening around 7:30, was fashioned from a plastic bottle filled with incendiary chemicals. No one was injured. ( continue to full post… )

Anti-Semitic California Prof Now Attacking Black People With Lies

By Mark Potok on April 3, 2012 - 2:16 pm, Posted in Academic Racism, Anti-Black

In one of the more volatile recent periods of racial unrest in this country, some of the most inflammatory incitement is coming from an odd little corner of academia.

An influential, tenured university psychology professor is on the airwaves claiming Trayvon Martin was a “thug,” a “hoodlum” and a drug dealer who was shot while he was suspended from high school after being caught with stolen jewelry and a tool used for “breaking and entering.” California State University, Long Beach, Professor Kevin MacDonald made these and other allegations about the slain teen on David Duke’s nationwide radio program yesterday morning. Records Suggest Move Against Racist Icon Tom Metzger in Bombing

By Bill Morlin on April 3, 2012 - 11:26 am, Posted in Extremist Crime, White Supremacist

Tom Metzger — a wily, iconic racist ideologue who has for years espoused “lone-wolf” terrorism — could soon find himself facing criminal charges filed by the federal government he’s excoriated for decades.

Federal investigators, fresh off a related mail-bombing conviction in Arizona, may be pressing for what could develop into a major Justice Department criminal case against “Terrible Tommy” Metzger, as he likes to call himself. Court records filed in three states show the investigators strongly suspect Metzger provided the Arizona bomber with explosive-making instructions, knowing they would be used in the commission of a crime of violence.
