Camille Marino, a radical animal liberation activist who advocates violence against scientists who use animals in their research, was arrested yesterday at Detroit’s Wayne State University after chaining herself to the school library in defiance of an order banning her from campus.

Marino heads Negotiation is Over (NIO), a Florida-based group that specializes in harassing vivisectionists, publishing on its website names, addresses and other personal information about its targets. “If you spill blood, your blood should be spilled as well,” she wrote in a 2010 message on the site. “We will print your information. And we’ll be at your homes. We’ll be at your work. We’ll be at your country clubs and golf courses. We’ll see you at your manicurist and we’ll be kneeling next to you when you take that next holy communion wafer on Sunday. If I have my way, you’ll be praying to us for mercy.”

The Wayne State ban stems from her attacks on Donal O’Leary, a cardiovascular researcher who obtained a protective order against her after she targeted him in last fall. ( continue to full post… )

Former Arizona Senate President Russell Pearce, the author of his state’s draconian anti-immigrant S.B. 1070 law, issued a statement last night denouncing “the local media” for attempting to tie him to J.T. Ready, the neo-Nazi who is believed to have murdered four people earlier in the day before being shot to death himself.

Jason Todd Ready, one of the nation’s leading neo-Nazi and anti-immigrant activists, apparently was the gunman who carried out a deadly shooting this afternoon that left five people dead, including himself, in the Phoenix suburb of Gilbert.

The gunman, identified as the notorious J.T. Ready by the Arizona Republic and others, was dressed in body armor and equipped with several firearms during the shooting, at an upscale residential area where he lived with his girlfriend. That woman, her 19-year-old daughter, the daughter’s boyfriend and an 18-month-old baby girl initially were identified as the shooting victims. ( continue to full post… )

As the trial of Muslim-hating Norwegian terrorist Anders Behring Breivik enters its third week, a U.S.-based website has published a new essay by a blogger whose work was cited frequently by the man who murdered 77 of his countrymen last July.

In an article posted today on FrontPage, Norwegian blogger “Fjordman” – whose work was mentioned so often in Breivik’s 1,500-page manifesto that some bloggers speculated they were the same person – showered praise on Robert Spencer, an American anti-Muslim pundit and hate group leader who Breivik thinks deserves a Nobel Peace Prize.

Fjordman’s particular interest is Spencer’s latest work, Did Muhammad Exist? An Inquiry into Islam’s Obscure Origins, which according to its Amazon page is a “sober but unflinching look at one of the world’s major religions” and includes “many indications that Arabian leaders fashioned Islam for political reasons” – military conquest among them. Five self-proclaimed anarchists are in federal custody in Cleveland for taking steps to blow up a highway bridge after discussing bombing other targets, including a Ku Klux Klan gathering spot and a Federal Reserve bank.

The arrests came Monday evening after three members of the group “planted what they thought were two C-4 based explosive devices” at the base of the Route 82 bridge crossing from Brecksville to Sagamore Hills over the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, south of downtown Cleveland, the FBI said in a statement.

Court documents say the planned act of terrorism was intended to coincide with May 1 antigovernment, anti-establishment protests planned today in Cleveland and other U.S. cities. But there does not appear to be any connection with any international terrorist groups or the anniversary of the killing of Osama bin Laden, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported. Orly Taitz is not happy. For the past several years, the California-based swimsuit model-turned-lawyer has poured her heart and soul into an endless series of lawsuits alleging that President Obama is not a U.S. citizen and is therefore ineligible for office. Now, she says, Jerome Corsi – the devoted birther and conspiracy-monger who authored last year’s ill-timed Where’s the Birth Certificate? – is ruining everything.

“JEROME CORSI IS DESTROYING THE CASE ON WHICH I WORKED FOR 4 YEARS 24/7/365,” reads a headline posted Sunday on Taitz’ website. “HE IS GRATUITOUSLY MAKING UP AN AMERICAN FATHER FOR OBAMA.”

Actually, what Corsi is doing is a little lazier than that. Perhaps realizing that the “birther” fad is winding down despite the release, last November, of his e-book Where’s the REAL Birth Certificate, the relentless right-wing attack dog has tentatively embraced someone else’s alternative theory of Obama’s provenance. In a recent article for WorldNetDaily, Corsi suggested that a new documentary makes a “compelling case” that the president’s real father was not Kenyan-born Barack Obama Sr. at all.
