Richard, I don't doubt you for a minute. They are further pushing all the most retrograde buttons ever wired into the American psyche, and their belligerance is something that is only inflamed by appeasement. Sound familiar? "Peace for our time" means our time may be short...

Evan, forgive my absence, I took a small vacation. I am not saying that the issues black people still have here in America erase their dislike for Gay Marraige, I am saying that they don't really think about it.

It's like people asking me, how do you feel about Gay Marraige? I answer, I don't really think about it, but it's okay with me if they want to get married.

They don't really think about it. Number one, being Gay is not a RACE. Being Black or White is. Being Gay is a sexual orientation in the HR world, but I don't see Gay as a category on a Job Application.

Now, it is a matter of discrimination and a target for Hate groups (unfortunately from a lot of Christian groups)? Yes it is. And is is wrong to hate due to race, creed, color, religion, sexual orientation? Yes it is.

But you are not in a race all to yourself. I wouldn't use the word racism, although other people may.

Now you are talking about OLD SCHOOL black folks. Who do not remember seeing Gay people openly attacked on television; they do not remember hearing Gay people being lynched over the past four hundred plus years; they do not remember seeing an entire Gay town burned to the ground, e.g., Rosewood Florida.

They have enough to think about, they do not think about your issues. As far as they are concerned, you have always had the right to vote, ride in the front of the bus, and use the same restroom. You can hide being Gay, you cannot hide being Black.

Do you deserve the same rights as all Americans, and all people on Earth for that matter; Yes you do.

Have you experienced the same degredation as black folks, and Native Americans: No you have not.

I'm sorry, but I do not equate the issue of Gay Marriage, to the issues of Civil Rights, or Women's Suffrage.

If I offend, I apologize, but I do not want to offend, but it is not the same thing.

You can even choose not to be openly Gay anymore and go back into the closet. I'm not saying you would do that of course, but the choice is there. You can't choose not to be black.

Folks, it is critical that thinking people remain alert to the threats posed by Family Resaerch Council and other Fascist Christian groups. Dominion Christianity is a growing sect of the ugliest form of Christianity ever brought forward on this nation.

Dominionism is the blueprint for FRC and the military Officers Christian Fellowship and Campus Crusade for Christ Military Mission to force bastardized Christianity on America. They are complicit in command centered and coercive Chrisatian proselytizing.

This is not a drill. We need to be at battle stations now!

Looks like a hot time has been had while I was out, and tomorrow is Friday. Award time is aproaching. Right now, though, I have either the reminder of an old back injury, or something is giving me a pain in the ilial crest. In view of this, I shan't comment yet, but everything is being evaluated...

<i>Painting all Muslims with the actions of an extremely small minority isn’t merely foolish, it is dangerous</i>

Essentialising White Christians is OK, though.

You know, that same ridiculous line was probably invoked by Sweden's clueless, anti-fa. PM when he lobbied the U.S. to have the joker who just killed ten Jews in Bulgaria sprung from Gitmo a few years back

Swedes indulged their anti-americanism ( you need no lessons in that depart.) and even treated the guy like a rock star.

Now they can indulge their anti-semitism.

But then it's foolish and dangerous to paint all swedish Prime Ministers and Swedes with same brush.

Or something!

Aron, you hate much more than anything else. Having a PHD in history won't stop Iran ,and many other muslim-majority countries, from executuing gays.

And PHDs aren't an insurance policy against utter stupidity either.

In France, the "anti-fas" aided and abetted by the country's leftists established the atmospherics that made the events in Toulouse possible.

After Moihammed Merah murdered those Jewish children, many in Toulouse' Muslim community hailed him as a hero.

They even held demonstrations in support of his heroics.

I'm sorry, Aron, but it's all very real...just like those ( luckily) recently foiled attacks aimed at Jewish targets in New York City.

It's all very real, but since you're unable to insert such hatreds into you're leftist script, you'll pretend these events never happened, and in a worst-case scenario will assign various motivations to the perps that the perps never had.

The Far right jihadist who suicide bombed in Bulgaria yesterday never existed, and even if he did, it's understanable because he was poor and lacked opportunities

Those events, those murders, are but a "Far Right" fabrication designed to demonise islam and to fan the flames of islamophobia.

...or so you wished...

What happens to Jews eventually happens to us gays, you know.

And it now is.

Now please continue to look the other way and to engage in soft racism of lowered expectations

Evan, they're both PhD historians. So you can take your snark and shove it.

You've given us one news clipping. Hardly sounds endemic, now, does it?

And then you've given no evidence regarding the French Jews. So there's that, too.

You're obviously a concern troll, and you couldn't care less about Jews, much less homosexuals. You just dislike Muslims.

But that's ok. Just be willing to take the intellectual beating I'm sure you're going to receive.

TTFN, Evan.

I've learned from this thread that gays are entirely expendable.

We really are.

<i>Also, if gays are leaving the Netherlands like crazy, why are my two friends (a married lesbian couple, horror of horrors!), moving to Amsterdam next week? From BOSTON, hardly the world’s most intolerant city, I might add.</i>

Perhaps neither are all that bright...I don't know.

Speaking of the Netherlands and lesbians, here's a short, terse, little "write-up" about muslim homophobia in Holland.

http://www.nisnews.nl/public/220311_1.htm

I don't reasonably expect anyone on this forum to give a damn.

By the way, Jews are leaving France in droves for much the same reasons.

They have nothing toulouse in doing so, do they?

You're all living in the past.

Gays and Jews are being thrown to the wolves by progressives.

Then again, perhaps I'm merely wolfophobic.

Not even a tinfoil Hammerhead lapel in, David. Take two Excedrin and have some coffee and orange juice. They're good for you.

(By the way, coffee was introduced to the West from Arabia and Ethiopia by the Ottoman Empire, and most of us can't leave home without it).

The thing that scares me, Reynardine, is that some Hammerhead models have enough intelligence to appear to be authoritative. I've seen this before, where someone attempts to mask an inability to support his or her arguments by coming across as some pedantic instructor with no time for his student's foolish questions. But even if you and I see through that crap, too many people don't.

Evan,

"If you’re still at the stage where you need proof of the increasing islamist homophobia and violence against european gays, then both of you are clearly living in the past."

Living in that past when people provided sources for their "information" instead of downloading it from dodgy websites or just making it up?

In the first place, "Islamist" and "Muslim" are not interchangeable terms. Some Muslims are homophobic, and some are gay; some Muslims are Islamists, but most are not. It's even possible that some Islamists are gay. Your kind of over-generalizing approach is what's known as stereotyping.

In the second place, proof would still be a good thing. The Internet scholarship you're advocating would net quite a collection of fake statistics and exaggerations perpetrated by the usual anti-Muslim suspects. It may be true that some of the violence against gays has been perpetrated by Muslims, but it's also true that right-wing ideologues who don't especially support gays have taken up this theme for their own immigrant-bashing purposes.

Finally, homophobia seems to be characteristic of religious fundamentalists of all kinds, Christian, Jewish, Hindu or what have you, in addition to the Muslim variety. So it isn't a problem of Islam as such, it's an issue of religious fundamentalism. But since that doesn't advance anyone's anti-immigration agenda, and since many of the Muslim-haters are fundamentalists themselves, it doesn't get mentioned.

"Gays are leaving Amsterdam and the Netherlands for the same reason Jews are leaving France in unprecedented numbers."

This is one of those times when mentioning the source of your "information" would really be helpful in demonstrating to people that you aren't just pulling it out of your backside.

Google? What is this google you speak of?

And my name is Arom, dumbass. Not Aaron.

If you're going to insult my intelligence, at least get my name right.

Also, if gays are leaving the Netherlands like crazy, why are my two friends (a married lesbian couple, horror of horrors!), moving to Amsterdam next week? From BOSTON, hardly the world's most intolerant city, I might add.

Evan,

Of course I've heard of Google, but searching via this system often returns quite a few hits, and separating the objective, peer-reviewed sources from the biased rants can take quite a bit of time. Why not spare us the trouble?

If you had the time to write your last post, in which you stated that you didn't have time to engage with us, surely you could have supplied a few links.

Are you telling me that since Blacks still have issues to resolve that their strident opposition to gay marriage can be forgiven, that it can be swept under the rug and forgotten about?

I haven't the time to give either of you a remedial tutorial in the spike ( and it's something that's not new) of islamist homophobic hatecrimes.

Gays are leaving Amsterdam and the Netherlands for the same reason Jews are leaving France in unprecedented numbers.

There is now a great deal of irrefutable documentation on this on the web. Have either of you ever heard of google?

Actually, not all of those posters are hit-and-run. Some of them are repeat Hammerheads, who keep bellowing the same lies and demands no matter how often they're rebutted. What their purpose is, I don't know, but I suspect some of them are either boiler-room operators or sock puppets.

Reynardine --

All I can say is that they do seem to be repelled by wasps' nests near the front door (it's always best to use natural pest control as opposed to substances like "Roundup").

Of course, now I also have a "watch toad" living beneath my clematis (although he is fairly discrete and, I think, would prefer to hide if NARites came calling).

Yes -- I don't think that there is much public awareness of the fact that these folks basically are no better than the Taliban. Since they are a movement, not tied to a particular denomination, they aren't easy for the "general public" to spot. But they are bent on establishing theocracy--and I think that some of the first people they will go after are other Christians who aren't superstitious nut-bags. Interestingly, they are "multicultural and multiracial," and have attracted and embraced people of all races and (sadly) some Native Americans, Native Hawaiians, and others who have participated in the burning of artifacts to remove "generational curses."

Scary, scary people (although maybe not as scary as the Ron Paul blimp that Erika mentioned in another thread).

Coral Sea, I've been assured by someone who knows a lot about these Dominionist/NAR types that their mapping is not for some hyothetical demons. They're actually marking who they plan to take out when they have enough power. They're Tealiban and they're dangerous, and they'll lie about who thet are. One ran as a "Democrat"; his true colors showed when he lost.

Evan, Black Americans are not homophobic, they are very Christian, but not homophobic. I'm sorry to disagree with you. I've yet to see a gay man or woman get kicked out of church.

Black Americans still have a long way to go and are more likely concentrating on their own issues, unless they themselves are Gay.

Also, I have noticed that older Black Americans do not equate the Gay Rights issue with Civil Rights. It's their perogative (sic), but they're the ones with the gray hair and I'm not going to argue with them.

My wife's grandmother will tell you that although she doesn't care about Gay Marriage, and she won't tell Joe N. he can't go to church, she has not seen a "straight / gay only" water fountain or bathroom situation, like the ones that she grew up with. And when Joe N. was baptized no one, and I mean no one, asked him to change.

It's different to them, and I don't blame them. She feels like black people still have a long way to go. Having a gay man in the family, and a few bi-sexual (young) nieces, helps spur this debate around the BBQ pit, it can get pretty spirited, but there is still love there.

However - trust me when I tell you that Black Americans are gay too. And the ones I know don't hate themselves.

Totally agree with you on the danger, Coral Sea. Who could look at Boykin's military service in a vacuum and see him as anything less than someone worthy of deep respect? It would not surprise me at all if he were interviewed on NPR as an "expert" on the threat of Muslim groups within the U.S., instilling subtle fear in listeners who might be more likely to take his statements at face value given his credentials. Unlike the screaming fanatics of the Westboro Baptist Church, Boykin is likely to have some success in swaying public opinion.

This posting is dishonest and deceitful for a number of reasons.

1) More and more murderous attacks on gays in Europe are being perpetrated by Muslims...far more than by Christians.

In Amsterdam it is now quite common for 'observant' Turk and Morrocan youths to swarm gay venues and to beat up the patrons.

In London, islamists have taken to declaring certain sections of the city 'Gay Free' zones, and they have been doing so with impunity. No Christians whatsoever are involved with these acts of hate.

2) One of the anti-racism crowd's biggest constituencies, Black Americans, are perhaps the most resistant and homophobic when it comes to promoting gay rights such as gay marriage.

The New Apostolic Reformation people are scary-strange. Among other things, they believe that they managed, through prayer(!) to kill Mother Teresa, who they considered an emissary of the evil "Queen of Heaven." They also burn artifacts of other (pagan) cultures (including Native American artifacts) to remove "generational curses." And, of course, they are into burning anything they view as "occult," like Harry Potter books and tarot cards.

They also do what they called "spiritual mapping," where they seek to identify "demonic influences" in communities. We have some of these folks in my neighborhood, and they identified one of my neighbor's house as "demonic" (we don't know why). Interestingly, they gave my house a pass. (For those of you who don't know, I am a pagan and a practitioner of Wicca.)

Among the things that I find upsetting about these folks is how incredibly superstitious they are (as evidenced in this piece by Boykin's assertion that the black patches in a photo indicated a demonic presence). And in addition to that, they practice a very negative form of magick in the burning of artifacts and praying for people to die (and proudly proclaiming that their prayers were answered).

I happened to have been discussing these issues with my brother the other day, and he thought it was utterly hilarious that a Wiccan, who actually does know about and occasionally practice magick, would consider the New Apostolic Reformation to be both ridiculously superstitious and practitioners of negative magick. However, he agreed with me. These folks are coming from a very fearful, very dark place, and even though they believe that magick is "wrong," they apparently have no compunction about performing it in an attempt to "harm" their "enemies." I don't know any responsible, serious Wiccan, who has been practicing for any length of time, to engage in the sort of negative crap the New Apostolic Reformation people do, or who come from any wordview that has even the tiniest fraction of fear and hatred that these bozos come from.

I thank SPLC for bringing the New Apostolic Reformation movement to the attention of its readers. These people scare me way more than Sovereigns, Tea Partiers, or even most racists. Indeed, they have the ability to wreak substantially more havoc on American society in general than these other groups, loathsome though the racists, in particular, are.
