Lisa was not hispanic. Her ex husband is who is Amber’s dad. Amber/s daughter, Lilly was half hispanic. Amber was a close friend of mine and nothing justifies what happened.

He didn’t do it.

His burial site is still secret…it went to the graves of the British soldiers who dug it.

I, too, have trouble keeping straight how all these characters met their end. I had the idea that Bormann swallowed cyanide when he realized there was no escape, but maybe that was Himmler.

No, I meant Karl Gebhardt. He was head of the German Red Cross at the end of the war. During the war, he was in charge of the sadistic Nazi medical experiments in the concentration camp at Ravensbruck, where they deliberately broke prisoners’ arms and legs, and injected them with various organisms to test drugs used for gas gangrene. He also tried to transplant limbs of concentration camp prisoners to wounded German troops.

However, unfortunately for me, he did not commit suicide, he was hanged by the Americans at Landsberg in 1948.

I meant Leonardo Conti, who ran the Nazi euthanasia “T4″ program, which gassed mentally ill people. He hanged himself in his cell at Mondorf in 1945, while awaiting trial. He was one of three prisoners who committed suicide on Col. Andrus’s watch at Nuremberg, the other two being Fatso Goering and alcoholic Nazi Labor Front boss Robert Ley.

Incidentally, two other points, and take note, trolls and Holocaust deniers:

1. The Nazi medical “experiments” were very real, well-recorded, and horrific.
2. The Nazi euthanasia program drew complaints from the Protestant and Catholic clergy, and they demanded to know who was responsible for these horrific acts. Turned out that Hitler himself had signed off on the orders, which caused him considerable embarrassment.

When he moved on the Jews in 1941 and 1942 through the Wannsee Protocols, he was very careful to make sure his orders were verbal, so nobody could do a paperwork trail back to him.

Bormann was killed on May 2, 1945, while he and a party of refugees from Hitler’s last bunker were trying to make the great escape from collapsing Berlin. Where Bormann was going is a mystery, since his secret died with him at the hands of Soviet troops, but for 30 years there was a big mystery over whether or not he had survived, and was hiding out in Argentina, with like-minded former SS men. The remains were cremated and scattered at sea.

Actually, his corpse was moldering in the sand not far from both the Fuehrerbunker and the West Berlin Police Headquarters, and was identified in 1972.

However, journalist Ladislas Farago claimed in the book “Aftermath” to have met Bormann in Bolivia in 1971. Since Bormann was dead at the time, I wonder who Farago really met?

A number of top and middle-level Nazis killed themselves, rather than face accountability for their unbelievable crimes. J.T. Ready was just following in an ignoble tradition.

Sorry I didn’t reply earlier. I needed to meditate a bit before articulating myself.

What I was getting at is that the equinamity one experiences through regular meditation can give anyone the power to halt negative thoughts. One form of meditation, which is holding loving thoughts, is demonstrably beneficial to the brain in terms of cultivating a sense of well being.

Whether or not J.T. Ready would have benefitted is impossible to say because he squandered his incredibly rare human life. The hate he manifested finally consumed him and everyone around him.

But I do think that it is worth considering that everything which exists depends upon everything else that exists (even thought). There really is nothing which can be isolated as having a separate reality. So I believe by achieving greater equanimty in our own minds, we influence the world around us to be a more peaceful and loving place. If the entire world was meditating for peace, there might still be J.T. Readys but perhaps their anger would not reach such extremes.

It’s how I look at karma. The seeds of our experiences are planted now and in the past, but how we act now and in the future determines whether those seeds bear fruit. With enough meditation perhaps he could have experienced a mild headache instead of blowing out his brains. Or pehaps not.

What an incredible waste…and it can truly be said of J.T. Ready: in his life, he accomplished nothing. He doesn’t even have a family to remember him.

But I am sure that you are correct about how hate and other negative emotions do change brain patterns and chemistry. Quite sure, in fact, since stress can bring about clinical depression, which is a brain chemistry problem.

What struck me most about this post, though was that he thought of himself as “common sense choice.” Clearly, he was not.

Also — what the heck is the “right temporal SCALP?” I mean, the bullet went into his brain. That’s like saying the wound in the “skin of the stomach” when someone runs you through the mid-section with a spear or something. Techno-speak can be so interesting sometimes. I worked with someone who would talk about taking soil samples from “the lagoonal area.” It was the “area near the lagoon,” but I guess he thought he could charge more if he used the term “lagoonal.”

Then he shot himself.

He killed all he saw around him, and then took the coward’s way out…just like the Nazis he admired: Hitler, Goebbels, Goering, Himmler, Brandt, Gebhardt, and Hess.

And like those same people he admired, his passing will be ignored by humanity. He will only be remembered by the people he hurt (which includes his loved ones) and students of his pathology.

It’s too bad we’ll never know what happened in that incident…what argument or shouting match led to Mr. Ready killing all those people.

What a tragic waste. As I have said elsewhere, I feel mostly pity for Mr. Ready.

Brain scan studies have shown a form of meditation that focuses on loving thoughts towards others brings about physical benefits in the parts of the brain where our feelings of well being reside. This is something most people already know intuitively if not intellectually: being kind makes you feel good.

I’m no scientist, but I see no reason why a lifetime of hate, violence, and anger would not cause the opposite effect, one of self-loathing and intense unhappiness that would lead one to such a horrific and irreversible act.

Here is the research paper but it’s quite dense. One can easily find out the same thing by just meditating. A good teacher can help to demystify the whole process, which does not require any religious beliefs and can be learned by just about anyone.
