When will this Gay Bashing stop, especially in this country loaded with children who because of this wrong teaching by fanatical religious groups that interprets the Bible saying, “Be fruitful and multiply,” means producing as many children as you can, wind up in Orphanages and Foster homes. The above quiote simply means “Be fruitful in IDEAS and MULTIPLY,” so as to bless the human race in technical inventions, not children. The Gay couples adopt these children that were unnessarily produced. They are a BLESSING, not a scourge on society.

All the active duty Marines I’m aquainted with know I’m gay and are always respectful and toward me. This is only the third incident this year, gay bashing used to be an every day thing. Although the article doesn’t mention it, I imagine alcohol was involved, possibly under age drinking.

Every time I hear about another one of these attacks it feels like it is also an attack on me. It is true that gay bashing appears to be getting less of a problem all the time. I grew up in the 50s and 60s and it was just a given that if you were gay it was expected of a lot of youth to show their hatred towards gays. I just hope it is not just getting to be less of a problem because people are affraid of being noticed for their hate. I hope that it is less now because people are evolving more and realizing the errors in their thinking.

My father enlisted in the Navy in 1938 and after transferring to San Diego for advanced training he went gay bashing several times with some of his buddies to local gay bars. He learned something about his fellow Americans when on one of these occasions when his wrist and arm were broken.

He would become a commissioned officer during the war and learned to be ashamed of his past actions. On ship and in ground assignments as well, gay Americans were essential and accepted members of the Fleet by almost everyone. They served as heroically and as normally as everyone else. Additionally they served in a much more open and accepting military than the one we have today even after the abolition of “don’t ask, don’t tell.”

I say that because official policy may be “LBGT friendly” but what really matters is the bottom levels of the command structure. If the NCO’s, and especially the middle level and newer NCO’s don’t buy into the new policies then there will always be a wink and a nod to those who remain viciously homophobic in their attitudes and actions.

One of the more interesting facets about gay-bashers is that they are often misogynistic themselves, having deep dislikes and disdain for women.

In some cases, gay-bashers are themselves deeply closeted gays, like Roy Cohn, the gamous McCarthy aide.

I’m personally convinced that behind the gay-bashing facade are deeply closeted gays who are unable or unwilling to face who they really are, and fear exposure for their secret attitudes or behaviors, and use anti-gay violence to prove they are straight and to cover u their hypocrisy.
