I wonder if there is a silver lining to the ministry of Pastor John Weaver of Fitzgerald, Georgia, who recently toured a couple of churches in Spokane WA and ministered at the Ag Trade Center in Colville WA? The Stevens County Assembly, Russell Bolton, and other “Christian Patriots” of Northeastern Washington and Northern Idaho helped to sponsor Pastor Weaver’s trip. aadila, your instincts that it was not a rich person are correct. It may have been a poor white person, but class always matters more than race in the criminal justice system. Yes, there is racial bias in the criminal justice system – no one has ever heard of traffic stops for “driving while white” afterall – but class bias is the primary driver.

While 19 years in prison is a long time, it is only 1 year per $3,000,000 stolen. To put that in perspective, i once was in the courtroom to see a person sentenced to 4 years in prison for stealing a $3 bag of candy.

Maybe there was a discount due to assumption of risk on the part of the conned. i mean, you invest your money with a neo-Confederate you should it to be a scam :)

There is so much hard core racism gathered together in Southern Baptist Churches that speak to each other thru various associations that it seems reasonable to me that Wilson and his henchmen would tap this source of wealth based on the “Southern mentality” . If so then maybe some SBC churches will have learned a lesson and perhaps one of those lessons is that God let them walk right into it without any “visions” that it was a farce .
