Mick, I’m sure you’re out of the room, but my answer is this:

When you celebrate your racial and cultural identity, it’s a matter of how you do it.

If you say, “I have a great culture, and I’m enjoying its good points and sharing it with everybody,” that’s good.

If you say, “I have a great culture, and it’s better than all the other cultures, and we’re going to attack, defame, denounce, threaten, harass, and not share our culture with those other cultures, which are by definition beneath us and below us and less than human,” it’s bad.

I’m not really understanding why British people wanting to maintain their racial and cultural identity is a bad thing. After all, isn’t that ultimately how we maintain the world’s diversity…by ensuring the continued existence of our unique differences?

The Sweet – you’re probably a lot closer to the truth than you may realize. There is an entire “Christian” movement which believes that a world-wide nuclear war must start before “Jesus will return” – funny thing is that THEY want to avoid being the targets. (Forget “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you!”)

I have to disagree with your final sentence. We recently had huge problems with our cable modem being hacked into – repeatedly. We had to have our ISP replace it with the most secure model made… and there has been indications that the hacker was trying to get in again. Whoever it was opened up the wireless (changing passwords and removing security) and was uploading and downloading huge amounts of information. When reported to the police, (like usual) they said that there was little they could do unless we could prove that they were downloading kiddie porn or something like that (which if reported would put US in jail – just having it come through your modem -possession- is against the law) and to report to them if we catch them trying again. They were hacking in through the cable interface and I found evidence that they’d been trying to hack my computer! So calling is a waste of time – like usual.

Regarding Paul Harris (I refuse to use the name he chose for himself) – I think they were lenient. We get the Muslim-bashers on our campus and they disgust me – I’d rather be around my Muslim colleagues (a couple of whom have been friends) than around those hate-filled Bible-pounders any day! For one thing, they’re far more peaceful and gentle!

Geller recently said that she wants Israel to nuke Europe and Iran (the so-called “Samson Option”). So she’s no friend to Europe or Europeans, and it’s too cute by half to see these supposed European nationalists cozy up to her as if she were an ally, when she hates them as much as she does the Muslims, she’s just not quite as outspoken about it. I suspect Geller, Schlussel, et al secretly want every country that _isn’t_ Israel to be nuked.
