On Eve of Memphis Klan Rally, Officials Prepare for ‘KKK Mayhem’

By Don Terry on March 29, 2013 - 2:13 pm, Posted in Anti-Black, Klan

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Pay no attention to that man beneath the sheet.

Do not go downtown to listen to his wicked words. Do not heckle or protest his presence. He is not worth it. His time has passed. He has no teeth.

That’s the message of the city of Memphis as it faces a trying day.

On Saturday – Easter eve – the Ku Klux Klan is scheduled to hold a “mass” rally here to protest the city’s recent decision to rename three Confederate-themed parks, including one honoring Nathan Bedford Forrest, the wealthy slave trader and ruthless Rebel cavalry lieutenant general, who became the first national leader of the KKK. But as the general’s modern day Klan kin rant and rave on the steps of the Shelby County Courthouse, local political, religious and business leaders hope everyone else in town – except for a huge contingent of police officers in riot gear – is more than five miles away at a hastily organized counter-event called the Heart of Memphis. It is scheduled to be an all-day affair at the fairgrounds with food, music, an Easter egg hunt and several panels on improving race relations in this Mississippi River city of more than 600,000 residents, 63% of whom are African-American.

Memphis has been grappling for weeks in letters to the editor and community meetings about the best way to respond to the Klan rally and to avoid a repeat of what happened here the last time the hooded haters came to town on a winter day in 1998. Then they were protesting Martin Luther King Day in the city where the Nobel Peace Prize winner was assassinated. The city pleaded with people to stay away. But before the afternoon was over, tear gas and the sound of shattered glass filled the streets as police battled with hundreds of anti-Klan demonstrators, giving the city a black eye and the KKK a good laugh.

This morning the, city awoke to a chilling headline on the front page of The Commercial Appeal: “Police braced for KKK mayhem.”

“We’re basically sitting on a powder keg that can go at any time,” the paper quoted the city’s police director, Toney Armstrong, as saying. “For the past couple of months, I’ve been waking up hoping this Saturday would never come.”

A woman wrote into the Appeal and suggested that this time around, rather than simply ignore the Klan and stay away, the city’s churches should dispatch their choirs to the rally to confront them, not with bricks or curses, but and in a “united effort to silence the KKK’s angry voices by singing.”

“Instead of spewing invectives, sing spirituals,” she wrote. “Celebrate forgiveness, hope, humility and love.”

The editors of the Appeal urged the city, “Don’t make Klan rally a bigger deal. … [T]he group has already received a ton of publicity about the event and caused much anxiety among some Memphians.”

At a community meeting about what to do, someone said Memphis should do what dozens of residents in Charlotte, N.C., pulled off last November when a band of Klansmen and neo-Nazis tried to hold an anti-immigration rally there. Many of the anti-Klan protesters dressed up like clowns and drowned out the white supremacist speeches with noisemakers and laughter.

And in an example of strange bedfellows, an African-American Crips street gang leader from Memphis and a KKK imperial wizard from Alabama said they would stand together to protest the rally. The Klan leader said renaming the parks was a local matter and the Klan should stay home.

In the end, Memphis opted for a picnic and an overwhelming police presence as the best response.

No one knows for sure how many Klansmen will show up for the rally organized by the Loyal White Knights of Ku Klux Klan, based in North Carolina. Two other out-of-town Klan factions as well as neo-Nazis from the Detroit-based National Socialist Movement (NSM) also say they will attend. A spokeswoman for the city, Dewanna Lofton, said Memphis authorities expect “no more than a handful.” In 1998, there were about 50 Klansmen. “I’d be surprised if it were that many,” Lofton said. Local news reports say the Klan promises between 80 and 100. When the KKK first announced the rally in February, the leaders vowed thousands would turn out.

Still, whatever the number, scores of police officers will be on hand and huge swaths of downtown will be cordoned off.

“We’re trying to have a protest, a counter-protest of these racist terrorists, but the police are going to set up this really big perimeter to make sure no one can get anywhere near the Klan,” JoNina Ervin, of the Ida B. Wells Coalition Against Racism and Police Brutality, told Hatewatch. “They’re bent on protecting the Klan’s First Amendment rights but the rest of us don’t seem to have any.”

Protesters, however, will be allowed a lot closer than Ervin first thought or feared. A permit has been granted to anti-Klan demonstrators to gather an hour before the Klan rally in a fenced off area on the opposite side of the Courthouse. The protesters must be done and gone by the time police bus the Klansmen in at 1:30 PM.

“The Klan is trying to re-establish a base in the mid-South,” Ervin told Hatewatch today. “They’re using the renaming of the parks as an excuse. We want them to know we’re here and we’re not going to let that happen, not without a fight.”

Ervin, a 64-year-old former Black Panther, is a Memphis resident, but anti-Klan protesters from as far away as Indiana and Chicago are said to be car-pooling their way to the city. As one local activist wrote on a Facebook page set up to generate support for an anti-Klan rally, the feeling among the protesters is “the appropriate response to Fascism is not pacification, toleration, avoidance or negotiation.”

“The appropriate response to Fascism is a working-class fight back.”

In 1998, when the Klan last came to Memphis – openly that is – the counter-protest “started peacefully and even jovially,” with people carrying signs with slogans such as “Race Mixing is Cool” and “The Klan Is a Disgrace to My Race,” according to The New York Times.

But only the few reporters allowed close enough by the police could hear Klan speakers as they called “for a return to racial segregation and denigrated blacks, Jews, Asians, foreigners and homosexuality,” the Times reported at the time.

Unable to get close to the Klan, according to the paper, some in the crowd of between 1,200 and 1,500 counter-demonstrators and onlookers started taunting the 200 police and sheriff’s deputies. The situation quickly escalated from taunts to tear gas to at least 25 arrests.

“We’ve learned a lot of things from the ‘98 rally,” Armstrong, Memphis police director, told the Appeal. “I was an undercover sergeant, and I inhaled a lot of gas that day. I don’t care to do it again.”

Ervin told Hatewatch that the anti-Klan efforts were organized on Facebook. She said she made it clear that there should be no physical confrontation with police or with the KKK. She said that the police “overreacted” in 1998 and were too quick to use force.

“If a racist group like the Klan is allowed to demonstrate on the Courthouse steps, we should be entitled to be right across the street so they can hear and see us, the people,” she said.

How many anti-Klan protesters show up is anyone’s guess. The city has done everything it can think of to discourage them: from hotdogs and Easter eggs at the fairgrounds to condoning off block after block around the Courthouse, a 10 to 12 block area Ervin calls a “Klan Safety Zone.”

All of the preparations and worry may be washed away by rally time. Rain began to fall on Memphis today – Good Friday – and the forecast calls for more of the same through much of Saturday.

“Pouring rain always messes up the best laid plans,” Ervin said. “I have a raincoat.”

BTW, Gregory, airbags are required in many European countries and are normally installed voluntarily by car manufacturers, probably to keep from designing two interiors. I personally believe seatbelts would have been put in cars without US government intervention by the end of the ’60’s, as a fantasy racing thing if nothing else (like a console mounted tachometer on a Buick with an automatic transmission). I personally think that airbag development was completely instituted or at least speeded up by US government mandates.

  • Ruslan Amirkhanov

“. Any time Government meddles with the Free Enerprise system there are unexpected side effects.”

You can’t have the “free enterprise system” without government interference.

” Ruslan, you are very knowledgable about a lot of things, but you said you live in Europe. Come stroll Detroit, or Newark, or… Pick a city. There are jobs iin every city in America if a person wants to work.”

As I suspected, you don’t know what unemployment is. It means there are more people than jobs. And when unemployment is high, it drives wages down, so even people who are employed don’t get a living wage.

  • Aron

Of course there are highways in Europe, you twit. But people don’t take their little Fiat Puntos on them the way I’ve seen the world-class idiots who take their Smart Cars on the Interstate.

I drive a Mazdaspeed 3. It’s a pretty damned small car that trades fuel economy for high performance.

And here’s the thing about jobs, stupid: they are out there, but the wages are so low as to not even be worth doing.

(Oh, and for the record, I would love for Fiat, Peugeot, and especially Citröen to come back to the states. I think the latter makes some incredible cars.)

And another thing, it is a proven fact that all of those anti-Union right-to-work states have higher wages. Don’t hate the unions. Hate the employers. (Not that you’d listen to me, but I’m saying this more for my friends who actually have functioning brains.)

  • Reynardine

Sam, it sounds like you flunked down a bunch of Randroid/Friedmanist alphabet soup and ralphed it up in no cogent order.

  • Sam Molloy

Gregory, I did not mention any nefarious plots. Any time Government meddles with the Free Enerprise system there are unexpected side effects. Ruslan, you are very knowledgable about a lot of things, but you said you live in Europe. Come stroll Detroit, or Newark, or… Pick a city. There are jobs iin every city in America if a person wants to work. Why do you suppose we have all the Mexicans here?. I’m pretty sure a whole bunch of Black people build those cars, German cars, in the Nonunion South, and they are very well built. Aron, there are highways in Europe. Does the term Autobahn ring any bells? You can also get small SUV’s like the Ford Escape we export there from Louisville. A Tahoe would look silly there, and it is a silly fantasy here, like an Assault Rifle, and just as dangerous in the wrong hands. Rey, the Diesel fuel used in Europe burns cleaner than even our newly improved Diesel. I don’t know if we do not have the refining capacity, or if the cost of such fuel would be prohibitive for our big trucks. (hey, at least I tell you if I don’t know something). I do know that the US smog controls on new VW Diesels are very complicated, and like conventional Hybrids, not worth the expense in my book. Just get a Fiat. Also, the rednecks that diddle with their Cummins Dodge pickups usually get a lot of black smoke and not much more power.

Unfortunately, Edward – or should I say “Edouard”? – has confused things a bit here. His “Génération Identitaire” is in fact a contemporary French neo-Fascist movement with the usual anti-immigrant, anti-Muslim agenda. When he talks about the 1968 generation, he’s referring to Paris 1968, Daniel Cohn-Bendit and so on. That has nothing to do with Sam’s revisionist U.S. history, of course.

Which makes it a bit disingenuous (and presumptuous) of Edouard to start talking about building a paradise in America, when his whole cultural frame of reference is actually European. We have enough right-wing fools of our own already, we don’t need to import more.

  • Gregory

Thanks. I’m familiar with the term, I just wanted Sam to verbalize his definition. He didn’t disappoint, as his recitation was what I was expecting. You are absolutely correct about Sam’s thoughtless regurgitation of right wing mythology.

Sam’s new narrative is that the gubbmint denied access to small fuel efficient vehicles, presumably forcing the public to buy SUVs and monster trucks. [face palm] Of course, it is people like Sam who howl like banshees when anyone suggests raising the CAFE standards. Next he will be telling us that seat belts and airbags would have become standard equipment without the evil gubbmint intervening.

  • Aron

Sam, do you honestly think anyone in America would buy those tiny cars? We have something called HIGHWAYS here.

    Christ, but you’re thick.

  • Ruslan Amirkhanov

Since Edward has decided to throw out the concept of coherency altogether and engage in what seems to be a bizarre strawman displaying even more historical ignorance, I’ll deal with Sam’s claim instead:

Welfare Culture is, as I have said, found in areas of most major cities that have blocks upon blocks of Black people that do not work, and don’t even know anybody who works, except their Social Worker.”

Oh really? So give us some concrete examples of these areas. Also do you know what the term “unemployment” means? Here’s a hint, it doesn’t mean people not working because they don’t want to. Also, how do you account for the fact that this kind of poverty was far worse prior to the Great Society reforms of 1964, and generally improved until the 1980s and started declining after 1996’s welfare reform?

  • aadila

Sam, it seems what you are describing is not “welfare culture” but “capitalist culture”.

  • Reynardine

Edward: Since when is Siberia in any part of your proposed jurisdiction? Explain your theory of exercising sovereignty over it.

  • Edward

Let me see. I owe a whole list of answers to Kiwi and Reynardine, and I owe an apology to Potok. uh, ok. This is the plan: We first transform America and build a paradise. then once we have paradise I will answer all questions and issue an apology. I promise. But you have to wait because there’s going to be a transition period where we first have to get all the factories organized to build that utopia. Now of course, during that period some of you may be sent to Gulags in eastern Siberia to work at Kolyma in the gold mines. But in the end, we’ll have a paradise. I promise! So you’re just gonna have to be patient and wait.

  • Sam Molloy

Welfare Culture is, as I have said, found in areas of most major cities that have blocks upon blocks of Black people that do not work, and don’t even know anybody who works, except their Social Worker. In rural Kentucky, there are groups of White people that share that description. They are no better, but tend to use Meth and Oxycontin instead of Crack. These people tend to group together, be related and know each other. Hence a culture of dependency. Indian reservations tend to also follow this pattern of dependency. Alcohol is usually their drug of choice.
As for cars, our government regulations still keep out a plethora of economical cars that the rest of the world has access to. Ford Figo, Fiat Uno, Renault Twingo, Suzuki Alto, etc. The three lightest cars we are allowed are the Fiat 500, the Mazda 2, and the Ford Fiesta. They all weigh roughly 2,500 pounds. The original Beetle, Morris Minor and Renault Dauphine weighed around 1,600, and the original Mini substantially less. Assuming the development of the Lambda Sond Oxygen sensor from Sweden and computer advances from Japan and Europe would have made electronic fuel injection inevitable without US Government intervention, we could be using half the Gasoline we now use. Oh, I forgot. Most people on food stamps are too fat to drive them. See how Government Intervention snowballs?
As for Osha, did you know that even bricks are required to hava a MSDS sheet on file? God forbid you drop a pallet of bricks and there is clay dust in the air. Not like outside where there is dirt dust.

  • aadila

“Welfare culture” is a term Sam picked up either from his parents or talk radio and he never bothered to actually question what that means.

It is a throwback to the conservative political agenda of decades ago which questioned the existence of social welfare programs because they supposedly “rewarded” indigents not to work.

Bill Clinton signed sweeping “welfare” reforms into law in 1997, and today there is almost nothing left of the former concept of welfare. The term “welfare” today consists of food stamps and temporary assistance for needy families.

Those reforms under Clinton addressed the right wing opposition to the former AFDC welfare by limiting such assistance to two years. States are now also empowered to eliminate payments to recipients altogether. The law also has provisions to allow states to use the funds to encourage marriage and discourage out of wedlock childbirths, which would be obvious to Sam if he ever bothered to learn about it.

Immediately following the reforms under Clinton, there was a swift decline in the number of “welfare” recipients in America (eventually cut in half) while there was a modest rise in the number of single mothers in the workforce compared with prior to the reforms. Those who were cut off from welfare involuntarily did not show encouraging job growth, but merely remained indigent and likely contibute to crime and social disorder.

This is yet another example of Sam regurgitating someone else’s ideas without going through the effort to verify if they are valid or not.

As his lack of response to the questions he’s been asked shows, Edward is just another in a long line of WN visitors to this site who can’t even minimally defend his beliefs in a rational way.

So Reynardine is a 68?er. That generation is dying off. Do the math. Someone who was 18 during the summer of love in 1967 would be 63 now. The most spoiled generation in history. They’ll be dead soon. It will be up to us to fix the problems they created. Once they’re finally dead, we’ll be able to fix the past.”

Lon Chaney, I’m happy to tell you: your “Generation Identitaire” all voted for Obama. “Generation Identitaire” pretty much consists of you and your many identities.

And maybe the 60 — count ’em, 60 — guys who showed up at the Klan rally.

And I’m really impressed…you know George Orwell! You’re going to rewrite history! Yes, just like in “1984!” Remember: “Who controls the present, controls the past. Who controls the past, controls the future.”

Except that was in a parody of a Communist tyranny, not a Volkisch state like you want. So I guess you’ll have to become a Communist to achieve nirvana. Ask Ruslan Amirkhanov how to do it.

While you’re doing that…you have a bunch of questions to answer. See above.

And you DO read what we write, don’ t you? On top of everything else, you’re also a liar! Great way to lead the “generation Identitaire!”

  • CoralSea

Edward — every generation has its stars and its, uh, not stars. However, every generation is also shaped by certain societal and demographic drivers, as well.

All told, although social conservatives and other people who are scared to death of sex, people who look different, or people who don’t automatically follow what their elders tell them didn’t like the 1960s, it was an era that led to significant advances for “the little people” — you know, “women?”

At some point, you may wish to view the History Channel’s series on Hippies and what their legacy actually was. Especially since you apparently own a computer/tablet/smart phone.

My greatest regret regarding the 1960s is that some people who were idealistic, artistic, and tolerant have been beaten down over the years and taken on that “we must obey” mentality. Fortunately, no matter how beaten up the American population has been by the economic messes of the bankster class, I really doubt that you will be able to push the U.S. back into the 1950s.

Finally, I know that it will horrify you to know this, but the boomers — who include those dastardly Hippie types — are likely to be a significant political and cultural presence for several decades yet to come. And as Reynardine said, we have managed to spread our message of tolerance and anti-facism to enough of the “younger” generations so that, awful though the new facist, tea party lick-spittles of the uber-rich are, I don’t think you will “reclaim” anything.

So put that in your pipe and smoke it!

  • CoralSea

Sam — how do I say this gently: please don’t hold forth on economic issues about which you are profoundly ignorant. Also, lay off pronoucements on environmental regulations — you know NOTHING about them. For example, the inital Clean Air Act was aimed at “point” sources — meaning factories. Even now, the rules in the Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990, the regulations regarding automobiles are pretty lax — fuel economy standards on NEW cars, fuel economcy standards for fleets run by businesses, and the requirement that metropolitan statistical areas come up with plans to deal with air quality non-attainment, since vehicles (mobile sources in regulatory speak) are major contributors to ozone formation. Currently, the Agency is focusing on diesel emissions because they produce both gases and particulate matter and are considered the number one pollutant of concern in many urban areas.

One regulation that came out of the 1970s was the phasing in of unleaded gasoline. This, in fact, has been a major success for EPA, and lead deposition from car exhaust is one of the few pollutants that has shown a significant decline.

Do you want to go back to leaded gasoline, considering that lead is toxic and there is NO threshhold of exposure that is considered safe. You may or may not have seen the study that was released earlier this year regarding the elevated lead levels in prison inmates. Considering that lead is a neurotoxin, this isn’t surprising, but it is amazingly tragic.

Perhaps you should have mentioned the Occupational Safety and Health Act or its Administration. Say what you want about OSHA, but considering the large numbers of people who are still injured and die every year, I’d say we still need OSHA.

By the way — Re:OSHA — they keep statistics on on-the-job shootings and the large number of convenience store, mini-mart, and taxi drivers who are killed every year, mostly at low-paying or minimum wage jobs. But then, what are a few dead convenience store clerks compared to the ability to tote a gun around anywhere you like to impress your buddies!

“1968 is regarded as the beginning of the Welfare Culture as we know it today. No effect on the well being of poor people of any race has been felt, as poverty rates are identical today.”

  • Gregory

Sam scrawls: “1968 is regarded as the beginning of the Welfare Culture as we know it today. “

Sam, if you believe all that drivel, your head is as full of fluff as any of us feared it was.

  • Sam Molloy

1968 is regarded as the beginning of the Welfare Culture as we know it today. No effect on the well being of poor people of any race has been felt, as poverty rates are identical today. Not to be confused with the previous Civil Rights Act, which most agree was a good thing and years overdue. The 1968 model year also saw the beginning of mandated smog and safety regulations for US cars, outlawing a slew of economical cars like the original Mini, several Fiat models and the freedom to import any kind of orphan car you want. A decade of fuel shortages followed. 1968 also saw a serious ratcheting up of gun control laws. No positive effect has been proven for these either, as the cities with the strictest laws still have our highest murder and gun violence levels.

  • Reynardine

Uh, and I turned twenty- five that year. Not a Boomer, by any stretch. A War Baby. And started my life with rationed Carnation and darned socks.

Helen — “the regulars” who post on this site do not, as a rule, oppose free speech. But we do believe in countering the speech of those with whom we disagree with our own thoughts.

The Klan was not prevented from speaking; however, there were apparently a lot of anti-Klan folks there who also wished to speak out. I would say that the city of Memphis did a pretty decent job (compared to what might otherwise have happened) of allowing both groups to exercise their rights to free speech.

If one group’s message was eclipsed by the message of a much larger group, well, it happens. Certainly, this let the Klan know that there are many who reject their message.

As for the “bigger picture” of whether a larger group should be allowed to overshadow a smaller group with a less popular (or not at all popular) message — well, that is what the First Amendment is for. In this country, even unpopular utterances are allowed.

Although I find the Klan and what they stand for to be abhorrent, one still must swallow hard and let them have their moment to speak to ensure that more deserving groups (in my opinion, yours may differ) are also able to put forth their ideas in public.

Still, as some of the “regulars” on here will say, “freedom of speech is not freedom from criticism.” So long as the criticism doesn’t involve threats and violence, this is the counterpoint to others’ public proclamations.

Does anyone here like free speech?”

Helen, I love free speech. I think it’s terrific.

And that’s why I’m going to exercise my right to free speech, and say to you the following. Pay attention, and listen close:

    1. Free speech doesn’t mean that anything a racist spouts requires me to stand there, applaud, and agree with him, her, or it.

    2. Free speech means that if I don’t like something a person says in public, I have a right to criticize it, loudly, and publicly, back.

    3. Free speech means that if somebody spouts lies, drivel, garbage, verbal flatulence, and idiocy, I have a right — and perhaps the duty — to answer that with truth, facts, and honesty.

    4. Free speech means that I have no right to shut down somebody else’s legally-protected speech, particularly with violence, or inappropriate acts (e.g., hacking a web page).

    5. However, I also have a right under my free speech, NOT to act as an additional megaphone for views I disagree with. The First Amendment says Congress and the government will not throttle free speech. As a private citizen and an honest person, I have no requirement to espouse idiotic and stupid ideas that I disagree with.

    6. In that case, I’m exercising my right to free speech in choosing NOT to say something. For example, I like baseball, not tennis. So am I required to talk about tennis? No. So I don’t. I think Harry Truman was a better president than Franklin Pierce. So am I required to support the “Committee to Deify Franklin Pierce?” No.

    7. Finally, my opinion of your little outburst…you sound like John Edwards, starting off his “psychic” show by asking “Does anyone here have a last name that starts with the letter ‘P’?” If five people answer “yes,” does that make John Edwards a “psychic” with all the answers?

    No. And neither are you.

    Lon Chaney strikes again!

    Edward said,

I am not a racist. I say I am part of Génération Identitaire, the ‘identity generation’. We are in opposition to the 68?ers, the baby boom generation who threw away our future to replace us with non-white immigrants. This was done all in the name of political correctness. Our future has also been looted by the baby boomer out of control spending.

We as young whites have an identity. A heritage. This heritage stretches back thousands of years. We do not wish to be replaced by non-whites. We refuse to allow our the old baby boom liberals to define us. Only we define who we are. It wasn’t within the power of the baby boom generation to replace us or loot us. Our heritage goes back before them in the past.

As the baby boom generation of older whites slowly starts to die off, we will be left as minorities in our own countries. I don’t want this. This is wrong.

You say I am a racist. I am not. For me it’s all about heritage. I want my people to survive and thrive and have a future.”

No, Lon Chaney, you are a racist. “Generation Identitaire,” huh? Dug into your French-English dictionary to come up with that one?

“White heritage that stretches back a thousand years?” Can you define that for us? Can you give us precision on “white cuisine,” “white religion,” “white art,” and “white literature?” Where can we find examples of this?

Destroy your “heritage?” Anybody replacing the Sistine Chapel with a portrait of Che Guevara? I hear Mozart and Beethoven are still being performed all over the world. I can walk into any bookstore and still purchase a book written by Dickens, Dostoyevsky, or Victor Hugo. I hear English teachers are still inflicting “Julius Caesar, “Moby Dick.” and “Beowulf” on 15-year-old kids of all ethnicities. And besides, none of the above are “white” heritage: they’re Italian, Austrian, German, English, Russian, French, and American heritage, in order.

So is Frederick Douglass, Maya Angelou, Zora Neale Hurston, and W.E.B. DuBois.

“Replace us with non-white immigrants?” Is anybody forcing you to marry a black girl? An Asian girl? A Latino girl? Any police officers bursting into your basement and dragging you off to an extermination camp in eastern Poland or to pick cotton on another continent? Any cops shooting you?

Nope. The worst that’s happening to you is that you’re getting exactly what you deserve: ridicule for your ignorance and stupidity. And lack of civil behavior.

You still owe Mark Potok an apology, remember? A little thing about how your mother raised you, to be polite and civil? Guess she didn’t. What…the trailer was too small?

Anyway, you are a racist. Remember that test you have to take? Here it is again. Plenty of racism you have to answer for there.

Yeah, you’re not a racist. Sorry, Lon Chaney, you can define yourself anyway you want…you have a right to your opinions, but the facts dictate otherwise, and I call ’em as I see ’em. You’re not only a racist, you’re a stupid, uncouth, ignorant, boor, who needs to get out of his mother’s trailer park, shave, shower, change his clothes, and get a job in the real world.

So here’s the test again. So far, you’re failing. Regularly.

    1. If you’re here to “debate leftists,” why are you ignoring their responses?
    2. If you don’t read “their posts anymore,” why are you here?
    3. How can you have their posts on “permanent ignore,” when they’re put on a weblog, not sent in a stand-alone e-mail to you?
    4. When you have had a “real job and a wife and family, and a nice home and car he worked for?”
    5. Why should Ruslan Amirkhanov “go away?” Are you the webmaster of this site?
    6. How do you propose to enforce that demand?
    7. Do you seriously expect anybody to obey your demands at this point? You have already stated that we are “crazy,” so why are you issuing them?
    8. If Ruslan is a “crazy person” and you “don’t read him,” why should it matter if he is here or not?
    9. On that line, why should it matter what he writes? Is he ruining your life?
    10. You have repeatedly stated that what appears on this web page “does not matter” and is “not important.” Why, then, are you so concerned with it?
    11. Do you believe that freedom of speech only applies to you?
    12. What legal or racial theory is that based on?
    13. How are you such an expert on the lifestyles of leftists?
    14. According to you leftists “all probably live in a college town in a crummy basement apartment, doing drugs, with no job, never even had a girlfriend. They’re probably all gay, unattractive, effeminate, overweight slobs. Basically deviants. So they get mad when they see a normal healthy man who has a job, looks good, is clean cut, and has a real job and a wife and family, and has a nice home and car he worked for. So these losers are all jealous.” If “leftists” are “deviants” in the first place, why would they be “jealous” of others?
    15. Leftists include Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry S. Truman, and John F. Kennedy. Were any of them “gay, unattractive, effeminate, overweight slobs?”
    16. Leftist war heroes include Theodore Roosevelt (Spanish-American War), Harry S. Truman (World War I and dropper of two atomic bombs), John F. Kennedy (World War II), George McGovern (World War II), Al Gore (Vietnam), and John Kerry (Vietnam). Were they “gay, unattractive, effeminate, overweight slobs?”
    17. What is the definition of a “normal, healthy man?”
    18. Why is having a “car he worked for” so critical to normality?
    19. What if you live in a major city where parking is a nightmare?
    20. As a Ph.D. and a university professor, you must work with colleagues who do not “look good,” or are necessarily “clean cut,” nor can afford a “car he worked for.” How do you get along with them?
    21. Does the term “projection” mean anything to you?
    22. You indicate intense anger at and obsession with leftists who have made a great deal of money and live well through their own energy and hard work. Is this because you still live in your parents’ basement and have never earned a penny in your entire life?
    23. You claim that I and the other regular posters here are deviants who live in “crummy basement apartments in college towns” who have never had jobs, wives, or girlfriends. Please give your research, sources, footnotes, and interviews that have enabled you to come up with such a detailed description of our lives, and explain to us who we are and what we are doing.
    24. You have asked us for our “10-year-resumes,” which I presume is part of that research. Since you are now defining us, please present those “resumes” for review.
    25. In one of your many incarnations, you have urged your opponents to do the following: “I urge both of you to focus your lives on real world issues that will improve your lives, such as getting a better paying job, joining the military, getting married, saving up to buy a home, or doing anything that will make a real man out of you.” Have you done any of the above?
    26. If you have joined the military, please list your service branch, medals, and campaigns.
    27. We notice that nowhere in your prescription for life to you include the concept of “community service.” Can you explain this?
    28. Please define “Community service.”
    29. Have you engaged in any acts of community service, e.g., serving in government, supporting charities, mentoring youth, participating in fundraisers for charities or awareness campaigns to address diseases, or even given blood?
    30. If so, please list all such incidents.
    31. You have also stated, “The posters on here are all a bunch of anti-white bigots and haters. They speak nothing but lies.” Why are you therefore continuing to engage “liars” in dialogue?
    32. Why are you so obsessed with the sexuality of leftists and whether or not they have girlfriends?
    33. You indicate that leftists are “gay.” Why would a gay person be “jealous” of someone with a “wife” of the opposite sex?
    34. Where did you gain you expertise in gay lifestyles?
    35. Why have you changed your sex in your names?
    36. You say that all leftists “live in college towns in crummy basement apartments, doing drugs, with no job.” By that logic, how do they pay the rent?
    37. You claim to have a Ph.D. and be a tenured professor. Where is that college and what do you teach, and what have you written for your dissertation?
    38. What do your colleagues and students think about your statement denouncing your “college town?”
    39. Does watching black women perform on music videos make someone an expert on black culture, or on the culture created by black musicians and white music promoters?
    40. Why, if you think that American blacks are not “your people,” are you so fascinated with black music videos?
    41. How does the behavior of black performers in music videos compare with the behavior of white performers in professional wrestling?
    42. Have you done any peer-reviewed or accredited term papers on the connection between music videos and the behavior of ordinary black and white people? If so, please provide the link.
    43. You are apparently well-informed on the sexual practices and movements of black women. What research have you undertaken in this field, and where can your reports be found?
    44. Did that research include sexual encounters with black women? If so, please list all of them, the types of encounters, positions used, the personal information about the involved persons, and whether or not these encounters were provided willingly or for hire.
    45. Did you practice “safe sex” during this research?
    46. How do you square these acts of miscegenation with Nazi racial laws that forbid such behavior?
    47. Have any of these encounters resulted in children? If so, are you supporting them?
    48. Does watching documentaries about remote African tribes make one an expert on African-American life?
    49. Are loud and pushy women in supermarkets a threat to America’s survival?
    50. Are loud and pushy black women in supermarkets a threat to America’s future?
    51. Are you being forced to marry or reproduce with loud and pushy black women?
    52. Why are you so obsessed with loud and pushy black women in supermarkets?
    53. Are these loud and pushy black women preventing you from shopping?
    54. Have you written a peer-reviewed academic paper on loud and pushy black women in supermarkets? If so, please provide the link.
    55. Does watching music videos featuring loud black women and seeing loud and pushy black women make you an expert on famine in the Ukraine in the 1930s?
    56. Are you sexually obsessed with loud and pushy black women?
    57. You indicate a fascination with loud and pushy black women. Do you find quiet and polite black women sexually attractive?
    58. Please list any and all black women that you find sexually attractive.
    59. In what field did you earn your Ph.D. and where can we find your dissertation?
    60. You claim that you answer all arguments with data. Please provide links to this data, and show that it has met academic standards. (As a Ph.D. with tenure at a university, you must know what those are)
    61. Tell us how the Russian people greeted their Nazi invaders with flowers, with proofs and citations.
    62. Tell us how Stalin intended to mate captured German civilians with monkeys to create a super-race, with proofs and citations. Your statement: “In the closing days of WWII the Soviet army was an entire army of rapists. Stalin had a secret agreement with Churchill and Roosevelt to take 4 million German civilians as slaves to Siberia to work in the Gulags — German women, old people teenagers, children. German babies were even taken for medical experiments. Stalin has a nightmarish dream of breeding humans with gorillas to create a super race of human/ape hybrids, which of course, failed. Read yourself in the Yalta agreement. It says the Soviets can take civilians as ‘labor in kind’ — meaning SLAVES!” Can you prove this with documentary evidence, such as examples of this “super race of human/ape hybrids?”
    63. Why would “human/ape hybrids” be a “super race?” Would they be superior to, say, the Aryan race?
    64. Please give your academic credentials in biology and anthropology in support of this statement.
    65. Tell us how Norman Rockwell sided with Hitler, with proofs and citations.
    66. Please give your academic credentials in art in support of this statement.
    67. Show us your proof that the white man is superior to the black man, with academic citations.
    68. You have also told us that you do not associate with neo-Nazis like Hal Turner, and so forth. Yet you have also said, on May 3rd, 2012 at 11:20 pm: “What’s wrong with being a neo-Nazi?” You have also said, “America is an evil country. While our brave young men were fighting in the East to stop the Asiatic hoards [sic], America bombed our civilians. There were no German soldiers left in the cities near the end of WWII. There were only babies, old people, young children, women. Yet the Americans bombed these civilians. During all this time our brave young men were fighting against Communism. America is an evil country. America fought on the side of evil during WWII. And evil won that war.” How can you rectify this hypocrisy?
    69. Is “our country” Germany or the United States?
    70. To which country do you swear allegiance?
    71. What do your colleagues and superiors at your university think about you being a neo-Nazi adherent?
    72. As an educator, how do you treat Jews and blacks in your classes?
    73. Have you received any complaints from them for your racism or anti-Semitism?
    74. In this post, you said the following: “#47 Comment By Jason Smith On May 7, 2012 @ 12:17 pm A.D.M., Ruslan, Erica, Reynadine, Aron, etc … You will have to start doing your own work. Read some books. If you want to hire me as a consultant , I might do it, for a consulting fee of say $500 dollars per hour. I might be willing to give a speech at one of your events but I would charge a fee. Minimum $10K plus travel expenses. But no, I’m not going to do anything for you for free. FYI: I do not read any of your responses. I never click on your links. I am not going to do any work for you or answer your questions for free. I don’t do that.” Does that mean you are only involved in neo-Nazism for personal gain?
    75. If you will not provide information, except for vast fees, how do you propose to gain adherents among the poor and disenfranchised?
    76. Isn’t demanding money for personal financial gain in exchange for proving your cause a tactic of the Jews and blacks that you despise?
    77. Why are you using tactics of the very people you detest?
    78. Doesn’t behaving like a Jew or a black make you a Jew or a black?
    79. When are you going to provide us with that e-mail address for our 10-year resumes?
    80. You have said, “Someday you’ll be on a talk show, flogging one of your novels, and you’ll complain, ‘I once debated this guy named Ezra on the Internet and he ignored all my posts, even though they were so clever’. Then you will burst out into tears on live TV.” Care to explain this in 1,000 words or less?
    81. Isn’t a statement like the above an example of using the evil leftist debate terms of “epithets, slurs, invective,” and therefore not becoming a white nationalist and neo-Nazi?
    82. You gave the following statement on the death of JT Ready: “#5 Comment By Jason Smith On May 3, 2012 @ 6:20 pm I do not believe this story. I believe it’s a setup! Note, the press release calls him the “apparent” shooter, and “The evidence to this point, which will still be verified …” So it’s not yet proven what happened. It may be a setup. It could be another hoax. It is far more likely this crime was committed by a gang of Communists and JT Ready was set up! Communist gangs operate all along the southern boarder smuggling drugs and illegal aliens. That’s a fact!” Can you provide proof that JT Ready was murdered by a Communist gang?
    83. You indicate that Communist gangs are smuggling drugs and illegal aliens. Since such activities are done for profit motives, in connection with powerful capitalist drug cartels, how do you reconcile this discrepancy?
    84. Do the profits from the drug trade finance Communist activities?
    85. If so, can you provide documented evidence on how the Communist Party of the United States and similar organizations benefit from drug trade?
    86. At the same time, numerous members of the Aryan Brotherhood are heavily involved in the production and distribution of methamphetamine, an illegal substance, to the public and in prison systems. Are such activities in keeping with Nazi traditions of purity?
    87. How do you reconcile their activities as being different from those of Communist drug gangs?
    88. You have made the following statement: “#2 Comment By Annie On August 20, 2012 @ 1:15 pm There’s nothing wrong with being a racist. A racist is merely a person who recognizes the existence of other races, yet prefers the company of his own people. Just as gays began coming out of the closet, I say it’s time for white racists to do the same. I feel more comfortable around other white people. When I go to a restaurant, or shopping, the community where I chose to buy a home, etc … My racist views shape all my decisions, and I think that’s good. I encourage all white to become racists. When more of us come out of the closet can we find acceptance for people like us. The people who hate white racists will be forced to accept us and our beliefs. That will occur when millions of us come out of the closet. There are so many of us they won’t be able to stop us or do anything. Only when white racists are united and come out in groups will we be able to force complete acceptance of racism.” How do you reconcile this statement with the violent and often genocidal acts of fellow racists?
    89. There have already been examples of racist societies: the Confederacy, Nazi Germany, and the Aryan Nations compound in Idaho. They have all failed. If they are based on racial superiority to their enemies, why and how did they fail?
    90. You repeatedly ask us to defend or deny various statements and positions. However, you have also stated that you refuse to read anything we say. Why are you asking us questions about our positions if you do not read our answers?
    91. You have also stated that we are “Communist liars.” If we are liars, why are you asking us where we stand on any issue, since all we state are lies.
    92. You have repeatedly said that you can create a website with your own worldview. Why have you not done so?
    93. You have repeatedly given differing topics as being the “important question.” Can you indicate a set of principles, aka a “political platform,” to consistently give your positions?
    94. Since your positions, names, identities, and views are constantly changing, how can you say you have any core integrity?
    95. If we are all crazy people, why are you wasting valuable time here instead of making your own web page?

You will be tested on this material. Please fill in all the information. If you fail to do so, the questions will be repeated until you have completed the assigned test. If you do not complete the assignment, you must withdraw from the class. See the bursar’s office.

My dear Edward…no, make that “little partner” as you are just so endearing!

Can you please enlighten us with your define and explain the word “heritage”? I’m waiting…ummm.

I guess not…well, then let me do it for you, shall I? I love being helpful to the “little partners” like yourself…it gives me a sense of usefulness, and, you need help…

First of all, there is Natural heritage–an inheritance of fauna and flora, geology, landscape and landforms, and other natural resources. Ummm….no, not the one?

Secondly, there is Cultural heritage–the legacy of physical artifacts and intangible attributes of a group or society: man-made heritage. Certainly there a hundreds of museums with such artifacts and not a one of them, to the best of my knowledge has been shut down or destroyed by a “minority”…

Then, there is the “Inheritance” of physical goods after the death of an individual; of the physical or non-physical things inherited. Seems like your generation gleaned a lot of “stuff” from those boomer generation parents who provided you with bed to sleep in, a refrigerator door that opened and closed 24/7 and, a roof over your head…and probably still do…

Now, there is “Biologica”l inheritance of physical characteristics…are we getting warmer?

And finally, there is something called “Birthright”– something inherited due to the place, time, or circumstances of someone’s birth.

Ahhh…that’s the one, isn’t it? Your trying to preserve the “heritage” of all white males born some where in in the United States during the 80’s, is that right?

Well, why didn’t you say so, “little partner”? We shall all take up a collection for your “White Male, vintage 1980’s” museum in order for you to preserve your past…I bet we could get you lots of donations of old Game Boy’s, Care Bears, banana seat bicycles etc.

…Ah, yes, the good old days, the 80’s, when white boys were so, so, “plentiful”… you never saw a dark face unless it was forced upon you, especially by a baby boomer, right little partner?

Well, “little partner”, be sure and do as your mommy and daddy tell’ya’ and say your prayers every night…god knows, you’ll need’m to preserve your all white, male, 1980’s world.

No,no, don’t thank me because now that you’re on my radar, I’ll be watchin’ for ya!

  • adamhill

Look out! Edward is using French!

Here’s why you’re a racist: (a) you believe in some essential difference(s) between whites and non-whites (beyond skin color), and, (b) because you “do not want whites to be replaced by non-whites”, that essential difference is evidently rooted in some qualities you think are inferior or negative among non-whites. If we’re going by the dictionary definition, you’re a racist.

And since you assert so strongly that you’re not a racist even though you are, you’re also a liar. Probably you’re lying in an effort to repackage the whole racist brand. You might as well just come clean and call yourself the racist that you are instead of fitting yourself falsely into some fake construct like “the identity generation.” This rebranding stuff has been tried many times before and it never works. Child molesters can’t make themselves look any better by claiming to be “lovers of children” or part of the “generation of sexual pioneers” because their loathsome behavior exposes them every time. Same with racists.

There’s no such thing as “white heritage.” I challenge you to name one cultural quality that can be attributed to “being white.” All other variables held stable, what cultural quality has ever arisen that could be produced by people with white skin that could not have been produced by people with non-white skin? If you can’t respond to these basic questions about your beliefs, you remain just another racist who can’t justify his opinions beyond the logical fallacies and deluded history tossed about in the WN community. And if that’s all you can provide in defense of your beliefs, maybe it’s time to reconsider them.

  • Gregory

I think the technical medical term is Rectal-Cranial Inversion.

  • Ruslan Amirkhanov

” We are in opposition to the 68?ers, the baby boom generation who threw away our future to replace us with non-white immigrants.”

Nobody is replacing you with non-white immigrants. Like most WNs, you know nothing about the history of US immigration law or probably current immigration laws for that matter.

” This was done all in the name of political correctness.”

What you consider political incorrect was just older political correctness. This overused term is utterly worthless.

” Our future has also been looted by the baby boomer out of control spending.”

Spending has nothing to do with immigrants or race.

“We as young whites have an identity. A heritage. This heritage stretches back thousands of years.”

Wrong. There is no such thing as “white” heritage. You have nothing significant in common with Europeans from today going back through history save for the fact that you might slightly resemble them in terms of skin tone, eye, or hair color. That’s it. You have nothing to do with Aristotle or Alexander of Macedon just because you might have had a similar skull shape or skin tone. Terribly sorry, but you’ll have to earn your own acclaims.

” We do not wish to be replaced by non-whites. We refuse to allow our the old baby boom liberals to define us.”

You keep saying “we” as though you’re more than a handful of buttmad middle class whites who need a human face to pin their failures on. You didn’t want to listen when black people and other non-white folks were saying for DECADES that the system was rigged, and now you’re paying the price for believing in the BS of American meritocracy.

” Only we define who we are. It wasn’t within the power of the baby boom generation to replace us or loot us. Our heritage goes back before them in the past.”

Oh look, more post-modernism! No, sorry, you don’t get to re-define things as you please.

“As the baby boom generation of older whites slowly starts to die off, we will be left as minorities in our own countries. I don’t want this. This is wrong.”

Really? Why is that? Do minorities in “your countries” get treated like second class citizens or something?

” For me it’s all about heritage. I want my people to survive and thrive and have a future.”

They’re not “your people,” and there is no such thing as “white heritage.” If you believe otherwise, it means you know nothing about European culture, period. Stop projecting American social norms onto the rest of the world. It makes you look like an idiot.

Come on now, this must be getting frustrating after I easily smacked down your ridiculous canned arguments.

  • Reynardine

Edward, as someone who was very much there in 1968, I say you are talking out of your hat, which you’ve got on the.wrong end of you.

  • Aron

I hate free speech and that’s why I go out of my way to gag everyone around me.

    Eat dirt, ‘Helen.’

  • Patricia

It’s pretty sad we are still a nation of race haters. Law’s can not regulate the heart of man, that comes from within. All people generally hated by kkk and the like, should Be On Guard. The wicked are serious in returning the nation to the days of segregation in every way, free labor, cross burning,
lynching etc., with law on it’s side!! If you think it is not possible think again; anything is possible with enough support and the right backers. If this does not stop Now we will return to the days of our doors being kicked in, dragged from our dwelling place and shot on the spot (think on that) !!

  • Helen Hall

Does anyone here like free speech?

  • majii

The Klan could only rally @60 members to show up for the event. Many attending the event couldn’t hear their message because the megaphone they brought had “weak” batteries.” Plus, it rained. It was a major Klan FAIL.

  • Edward

I am not a racist. I say I am part of Génération Identitaire, the ‘identity generation’. We are in opposition to the 68’ers, the baby boom generation who threw away our future to replace us with non-white immigrants.

I want my people to survive and thrive and have a future.

  • Reynardine

Sam, call this a matter of feeling…

  • concernedcitizen

@Kiwiwriter: You are correct that they will try to pit people into fights and arguments and then they point fingers as if they are the pristine, they are not.

Ridicule is the best approach, I really like the clown idea. I’m sure the protestors will do their best.

  • Matthew Bright

Erika — I agree with you. It’s not worth one’s life to confront dumb psychopaths. Especially when the really dangerous ones wear suits and ties and exercise their racism with a pen.

  • Matthew Bright

I’m friends with Nathan Bedford Forest’s great, great grandson and I have absolutely no doubt he would be disgusted by this “protest.”

Just thought I’d put that out there. The whole subject is quite understandably nauseating to him and someone needs to do it. As far as he’s concerned, it’s as bad as having someone like Ted Bundy or Richard Speck for a relative.

  • Matthew Bright

Who the hell is Ruslan Amirkhanov. The above comment, about Nathan Bedford Forest’s grandson was written by myself. And when I pressed the button, that name came up.

    Please fix it.

    M. Bright

  • concernedcitizen

You are so correct Erika. I really like that the protestors are dressing up like clowns that is a costume worthy of the event.

  • Sam Molloy

Oh darn. I made a new hood and forgot the eyeholes. Now I can’t see to find the scissors.

  • Kiwiwriter

My message to the would-be anti-Klan protesters is simple:

Don’t become what you behold. Don’t stoop to their levels. No violence, no threats, no abuse, no hurling of anything. The best weapon against the Klan at this point is ridicule. Don’t act like they want you to act. Don’t make their case for them. Don’t let them bait you into doing stupid things.

My sympathies are pretty much with the cops who are going to be caught in the middle of this idiocy. They are going to carry out their legal, moral, and constitutional duty to ensure that American citizens can exercise their right to free speech (on both sides) and to keep the peace.

I think the best thing for residents of Memphis to do on the day of the protest is go to that “Heart of Memphis” picnic and meet your neighbors. Find folks of different ethnicities who share common interests: music, sports, cars, collecting stamps, raising kids, needlepoint, TV shows, military service, food, movies, computer games, even hopscotch, and MAKE NEW FRIENDS.

There’s enough hate in the world. Take advantage of this event to make your world a better place.

  • Erika

i still want to know if Brock will make it :P

and to the people showing up who oppose the KKlueless Klan, please don’t react to their provokation with violence
