Another ‘Sovereign’ Sentenced in Tax Fraud Scheme

A federal judge in Seattle had a short, simple message for a 70-year-old “sovereign citizen” accountant who persuaded other antigovernment activists to file fraudulent tax returns that called for refunds equal to their personal debts.
The tax fraud cost the government $700,000 in erroneous payments. For his work, Bell received a 10 percent cut of the refunds paid to others and a flat fee for each bogus return he filed. He also received a fraudulent refund on his own taxes of approximately $35,000.
“Your scheme … is fraud at its core,” U.S. District Judge Ronald B. Leighton told Raymond Leo Jarlik Bell. “You are hurting people intentionally, regardless of your adherence to [your beliefs].” ( continue to full post… )

Fox News Host Tells English Extremist: ‘We Got Your Back’
Brian Kilmeade, one of the wise men of Fox News, recently told Tommy Robinson, aka Stephen Lennon, the leader of the immigrant-bashing, Muslim-hating, police-clashing English Defence League (EDL), who recently spent time in jail for using a false passport to illegally enter the United States, that “it’s great what you’re doing.”

Cut from Haley Camp, CCC Board Member Denies Knowledge of Group’s Racism
Roan Garcia-Quintana is a board member of the Council of Conservative Citizens, which opposes “all efforts to mix the races of mankind.”At 62, Roan Garcia-Quintana is a worldly, retired college professor and longtime South Carolina political operative with deep roots in the Republican Party. That’s why what he recently told the Charleston City Paper sounds like such a bizarre story. You know: BS.
In an interview with the paper, he was trying to explain himself after he was forced to resign from Gov. Nikki Haley’s 2014 re-election campaign steering committee last month shortly after Hatewatch revealed that Garcia-Quintana is a lifetime member and current board member of the white nationalist Council of Conservative Citizens (CCC).
Bomb-Maker Case Highlights Links Between Domestic Extremists and Jihadists

A young man from Clarkston, Wash. – who idolized Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh and nearly died exploding a test bomb before becoming interested in radical jihadists – was sentenced Tuesday to 12.5 years in federal prison.
The federal investigation and prosecution of Joseph Jefferey Brice shines a spotlight on the antigovernment, anti-Semitic links shared between Islamic jihadists and white supremacists.
“Tim’s characteristics are nearly the same as myself, physically (and) politically,” Brice, 23, wrote in an Internet message posted on Jan. 14, 2010. ( continue to full post… )
Would-be White House Crasher Wanted to Paint ‘Patriot’ Snake Symbol

An unoccupied black Jeep Patriot rolls down the street and crashes into a light pole and steel bollard of a guard booth near the White House shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday.
A block of wood had been affixed to the accelerator with Velcro. Inside the vehicle – its motor still running, its airbag deployed – are 200 rounds of ammunition, eight knives of various sizes and two machetes.
Heavily armed Secret Service agents, including an emergency response team and a counter sniper team, immediately scramble into action. ( continue to full post… )
Usual Suspects Blamed and Blasted at CCC Conference
“The only people who can be trusted to be in charge are white people.” Keith Alexander at CCC Conference, 2013What do you call a weekend spent immigrant-bashing, democracy-dissing, race-baiting, Holocaust-death-toll-denying, pistol-packing, and calling for “bigots to come together?”
If you guessed two days at the nearest funny farm, you weren’t far off.
The correct answer, however, is the 2013 national conference of the Council of Conservative Citizens (CCC) held last Friday and Saturday at a downtown hotel in Winston-Salem, N.C. About 75 people attended, some of whom carried pistols strapped to their hips.

Study Debunks Claim That Kids of Same-Sex Parents Do Less Well
In the latest blow to anti-gay forces, a major study conducted at the University of Melbourne in Australia has found that children of same-sex parents do as well or better than children raised by heterosexual parents. The Australian Study of Child Health in Same-Sex Families collected data on 500 children up to the age of 17 who grew up in gay or lesbian households across the nation.
An interim report on the study released earlier this week noted no statistical difference between children of same-sex couples and the population at large on such indicators as self-esteem, emotional behavior, and time spent with parents. Children of same-sex parents, however, scored higher than the national average for overall health and family cohesion. ( continue to full post… )
