The Civil Rights Memorial Center, located at 400 Washington Ave. in Montgomery, Alabama, offers student and teacher groups guided tours lasting approximately one hour.

Tours are available by appointment, Monday through Friday, between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. and Saturday between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Admission fees are waived for student groups in grades 4-12.

Students should be exposed to age-appropriate materials about the Civil Rights Movement prior to visiting the Memorial Center.

Teachers and chaperones are responsible for the students in their groups. Gum chewing, smoking and use of cell phones are prohibited in the Civil Rights Memorial Center.

Buses should load and unload passengers on Decatur Street, east of the Civil Rights Memorial Center. Group members should leave all personal items on their bus, as everyone entering the Civil Rights Memorial Center must pass through a security system similar to those found in airports.
