Dylan Butler, 20; and Deryl Dedmon and John Aaron Rice, both 19, pled guilty in federal court to charges of conspiracy to commit a hate crime and committing a hate crime for participating in beating James Anderson, a 47-year-old black man, then running him over with his truck in June 2011. Dedmon had already pled guilty to state charges of murder and a hate crime and was sentenced to two concurrent life sentences in prison.
