David Dinielli spearheads the SPLC’s LGBT Rights Project.  He joined the SPLC after a long career with the Los Angeles law firm, Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP where he specialized in complex litigation and played lead roles in numerous important LGBT rights cases, including the California Supreme Court challenge to Proposition 8 and the federal court defense of California’s groundbreaking legislation prohibiting the practice of gay-to-straight “conversion therapy” on minors.  Mr. Dinielli also spent time in the United States Department of Justice as special counsel hired to help prosecute the United States’ antitrust action to block the merger of AT&T and T-Mobile.  Mr. Dinielli served as a law clerk to the Hon. Cynthia Holcomb Hall of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.  He earned his law degree magna cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School, where he was the Managing Editor of the Michigan Law Review and elected to Order of the Coif, and his undergraduate degree magna cum laude from Harvard College.
