Christine Henderson leads the advocacy effort in the Southern Poverty Law Center’s Florida’s office. This effort seeks to reform the state’s education and juvenile justice systems. She joined the SPLC in 2009 as a community advocate with the SPLC’s Mississippi office. She worked with community leaders and youths to promote juvenile justice reforms in the state. As an advocate for Mississippi youths, she helped expose inhumane living conditions and physical abuse occurring in juvenile detention centers. She also assisted SPLC lawyers in their efforts to reduce the number of incarcerated youths throughout Mississippi. She has experience as an advocate for at-risk youths in Florida and has served as case manager at a residential facility for juveniles.
