Lida Orzeck co-founded the lingerie company Hanky Panky in 1977 and is currently Co-CEO of the company which the co-founders restructured as an ESOP in 2017. Born in Brooklyn, New York, she is a graduate of Barnard College and holds a doctorate in Social Psychology from Columbia University’s Teachers College. She began her career at the NYC Police Department, conducting research on and recommending changes to the Sex Crimes Unit detectives’ interview process, and then led research on a federally funded grant to Health and Hospitals Corporation focusing on emergency medical services delivery.
Lida’s activities are guided by her interest in the arts and her philanthropy is dedicated to educational equality and social justice, with a focus on racial equality. She is a trustee of Barnard College and has served on the board of the SPLC since 2012, where she is chairperson of the Finance Committee. She is also a board member of the International Organization for Women & Development, whose efforts are directed at the repair of obstetric fistula in Rwandan women.
