Cuts & Care Pop-Up Shop Series

The Cuts & Care Pop-Up Shop Series is a community-rooted youth engagement initiative restoring the barbershop and salon as spaces of care, conversation and connection. Throughout January, youth ages 11-17 are invited to enjoy free haircuts, self-care services, food and culturally centered dialogue in a safe, affirming space in Augusta, Georgia. Sessions will be held on Wednesdays from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturdays from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The location will be shared upon registration. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Each session includes free services from licensed local barbers and cosmetology professionals; youth-led conversations on civic engagement, conflict resolution, violence prevention, healing and the new civil rights movement; relationship-building tied to a long-term mentorship pipeline; and exposure to entrepreneurship, workforce skills and positive adult role models. Cuts & Care meets youth where they are and revives the barbershop and salon as trusted safe havens where young people are seen, heard and supported.
