Apply to the SPLC Advocacy Institute to learn how to make positive changes in Mississippi

The Southern Poverty Law Center’s Advocacy Institute is home to a series of training programs supported by SPLC staff, subject matter experts, community-based partner organizations, and other community stakeholders that offer hands-on policy and advocacy training to provide participants with the skills needed to create positive change throughout our communities.

About SPLC’s Advocacy Institute

Designed to serve as a breeding ground for change agents, participants will help galvanize people across the state around a common objective.  Learning opportunities are focused on best practices to build community power that results in local and statewide policy change.

What you can expect from our inaugural restoration and re-entry cohort

Over five weeks, participants will engage in a series of learning exercises to increase their understanding of the rights restoration process and re-entry programs in Mississippi. Participants will also engage with SPLC partner organizations that provide technical assistance and connections to resources to aid in restoring voting rights.

Participants of SPLC’s Advocacy Institute are eligible for stipends.

The application deadline for admission to the Advocacy Institute closed Tuesday, May 31, 2022.

Notice of acceptance will be sent by June 3, 2022.
