Be an ambassador for change

The CRG x SPLC Ambassador Program aims to boost civic engagement among 18-34-year-olds in Georgia’s Black Belt and SW/SE regions. It builds future leaders by educating and mobilizing people in those communities to increase voter turnout, raise awareness to key meetings and connect with businesses and community spaces to strengthen diverse representation in local government.

What you’ll do

  • Canvass to identify key issues in the Black community.
  • Engage voters on registration, education, and mail-in voting.
  • Organize community meetings for surveys and discussions.
  • Host voter registration tables.
  • Promote diversity and equal opportunity.

How you’ll do it

  • Effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds.
  • Follow all required reporting procedures along with adhering to safety protocols.
  • Occasionally operate equipment, read technical information.
  • Spend long periods of standing, walking or sitting – sometimes outside.

Where you’ll do it

  • The focus of this work will be in the following Georgia counties: Bibb, Chatham, Dougherty, Houston, Muscogee, Putnam, Richmond, Stewart and Terrell. (Familiarity or residence in those areas is preferred.)

What is required

  • Know and follow Georgia’s voter registration laws.
  • Flexible schedule of up to 30 hours per week. Some weekend events necessary.
  • Passion and enthusiasm for promoting civic engagement within the Black community.
  • Legible handwriting and ability to operate a keyboard.
  • Able to lift up to 25 pounds.

What it pays

  • $20/hr
